New images purported to be of the Nokia Ace 900 Windows Phone have accidentally been leaked via a Christmas card distributed by a Microsoft partner. Get your salt out, ladies and gentlemen, because although this device may well be a real-deal object set for the 2012 event already set in place by Nokia for CES, it's also only appearing in a single photo which very well could have been doctored to look like an attempt by Mr Blurrycam at capturing a unique glace for himself. Nokia begins Belle roll-out; Updates from Feb 2012

Nokia has begun shipping updated versions of the N8, C7 and C6-01 with Nokia Belle, aka Symbian Belle with a newly fettled UI, while an upgrade program for existing owners will begin in February 2012. Apple App Store sees 6x revenue versus Android in top apps

Apple’s App Store generates six times the revenue of Google’s Android Market for the top 200 grossing titles, app analysis firm Distimo has calculated, while in-app purchases account for 65-percent of revenues for the top grossing 200 Android software. The findings, part of Distimo’s January to November 2011 report, also include news that the Windows Phone Marketplace, Microsoft’s mobile download store, has overtaken Nokia’s Ovi Store and RIM’s BlackBerry App World for games, and is now the fourth largest app store in that category.

Microsoft and Nokia discussed a potential takeover of beleaguered BlackBerry manufacturer RIM, leaks have revealed, while RIM itself has approached Samsung, HTC and others about potentially licensing the new BlackBerry 10 OS. Talks between Microsoft and Nokia began several months ago, the WSJ reports, though while executives from the two firms apparently regularly meet with top brass at RIM, it's unclear whether the Canadian company has been involved in potential acquisition planning. Nokia's multi-million efforts to push its Windows Phone based Lumia 800 still hasn't resulted in strong holiday sales, according to the latest UK stats, with Apple's iPhone continuing to dominate the mobile market. Although the newest iPhone 4S was an unsurprising success, sales tracking firm GfK says, the aging iPhone 3GS still managed to make it into the top 15 handsets chart despite dating back to mid-2009. Nokia's ambitious and expensive launch promotion for the Lumia 800 has fallen flat, according to European market research, with only a little over 2-percent of those surveyed saying they firmly intended to buy the new Windows Phone. The results of the Exane BNP Paribas poll prompted the brokerage firm to cut its quarterly sales estimates for the Lumia 800 to 800,000, Times of India reports, down from previous expectations of around 2m units. Nokia plans to distribute as many as several thousand free Lumia 800 smartphones to its developers, SlashGear has been informed, with the shipping process set to begin early next week. The pre-holiday coder reward is the latest part of Nokia's Launchpad scheme which gave out free E7 handsets earlier in the year, and is now trying to persuade developers to jump ship to Windows Phone.
