Nokia reportedly unveiling Windows Phone 8 devices on September 5th

There’s not long to go until Nokia World kicks off in Helsinki on September 5th, but what exactly can we expect from the event? Chinese website WPDang has it on good authority that Nokia will be unveiled two Windows Phone 8 devices at the event, making them one of the first vendors to bring Windows Phone 8 handsets to the table. WPDang believes that the two handsets could be the Nokia Lumia 910 and Lumia 920.

Nokia has outed its new range of smartphones, and there are three new devices alongside the N8.  First up is the Nokia C6, a full touchscreen handset with a new CBD "ClearBlack Display" that, according to Anssi Vanjoki, is "blacker than black". Then there's the Nokia C7 - "the thin one" says Vanjoki - with the same functionality as the C6, a 3.5-inch display, more memory and a stainless steel chassis.

Nokia S40 Facebook app; new Facebook Connect for Mobile announced

Nokia and Facebook have teamed up to offer a new S40 app that allows for status updates together with providing a homescreen widget.  Intended to leverage Facebook's huge mobile growth - more than 65m mobile users in August alone - the app joins the company's existing offerings for S60 handsets such as the N97.  Facebook also announced Facebook Connect for Mobile Web, a service which - as already on the iPhone - allows developers to include integration with the social networking platform with their mobile apps.

Nokia Ovi SDK plus Navigation and Maps APIs launched

Nokia have announced a new set of APIs for mapping and navigation, which developers can use to add location-based information - such as showing nearby search results - and display location-based data.  The Ovi Navigation Player API and OVI Maps Player API are also joined by the new Ovi SDK, a platform which the company claims can be used by anyone with HTML, CSS and JavaScript coding skills.
