Nokia N950 confirmed for MeeGo devs: 4-inch QWERTY slider

Nokia's N9 certainly looks like the device to reignite complaints over the company bypassing MeeGo, but what if you're a developer and you want some physical QWERTY goodness too? The Nokia N950 developer device has also been quietly announced, a 4-inch LCD TFT 854 x 480 slider with a tilting screen, the same 1GHz OMAP3630 processor and PowerVR SGX530 graphics as the N9, and what we're guessing is a form-factor very similar to the much-leaked photo shown here.

Nokia N9 official: 3.9-inch MeeGo smartphone

The Nokia N9 is official, the company's first MeeGo smartphone. Packing a 3.9-inch 854 x 480 AMOLED capacitive touchscreen into a monoblock polycarbonate chassis, the N9 has pentaband WCDMA for AT&T and T-Mobile USA 3G support, an 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss autofocus camera with 720p HD video recording, and a 1GHz OMAP3630 with PowerVR SGX530 graphics and 1GB of RAM.

Nokia N9-00 reportedly axed as MeeGo flails

Nokia has reportedly cancelled its first MeeGo smartphone project, believed to be the N9-00 QWERTY-toting slider first spotted midway through 2010. Reuters' sources couldn't give a reason for the decision to axe the phone, though a leaked memo believed to be the handiwork of Nokia CEO Stephen Elop blames slow delivery of new products, poor internal communications and lackluster leadership for the fact that only one MeeGo device might reach the market by the end of the year.
