From all the way over in China comes an advertisement for the Nokia N9 that will certainly have you questioning why you ever thought a short video about a smartphone could be anything less than ultra-epic. I'm certain Avi Greengart will agree that this ad spot far exceeds the device itself, encapsulating the device in a cocoon of over-the-top power and grace in a black and white video that will stop your heart. MeeGo is dead, Nokia has basically said, and yet the Finnish company seems reluctant to let the “ex-platform” go. Finnish magazine Tietokone claims sources at a retailer and an operator, each working closely with Nokia, have confirmed there is an N9 successor on the roadmap, though exact details as to what the device might be are unknown.

Spotify hits Nokia N9

Spotify has released a mobile app for MeeGo, allowing those lucky few with a Nokia N9 to access the streaming music service. The app - which also works on the N950 developer device - supports streaming over WiFi, EDGE and 3G, as well as support for offline playlists where tracks are cached in the N9's own storage for playback when you're without a data connection. Nokia could be readying two new N9 color variants, it's suggested, with white and green versions of the MeeGo smartphone spotted.
