Nokia gets Windows Phone 8 fever: Lumia 920 and 820 wrap-up

We've been at Nokia's Windows Phone 8 event all morning, and the event has given us plenty to talk about. Most important is the reveal of the Nokia Lumia 920, which many figured was going to be officially announced at this event. The Lumia 920 is here at last, and it's definitely worthy of being called Nokia's new flagship device. Nokia's new Lumia 920 may not be PureView as we've known it, but that doesn't mean it's not some darned clever camera technology all the same: think springs in your smartphone for a start. Nokia's new flagship Lumia 920 is here, and for all the changes Windows Phone 8 brings it's a familiar beast, instantly recognizable from the Lumias that went before it. As before, the polycarbonate casing sits neatly and comfortably in the hand, though it's obviously - with a 4.5-inch display - a bigger phone than before; it also feels thicker, thanks to a bowed back panel. In a world that's all about the details, the displeasing ridge around the display of the Lumia 900 has gone, with a smooth blend into the plastic body.

Nokia Lumia 920 packs glove-friendly touchscreen

Nokia hasn't forgotten its Finnish roots with the Lumia 920, using a new "super sensitive touch" display that can be used even if you're wearing gloves. Unlike most capacitive touchscreens, which only recognize actual flesh in contact with them, the Lumia 920 has two different touch modes that are automatically switched between to suit what your fingers are wearing.
