Isis Mobile Wallet brings NFC to the payment counter, will roll out nationwide

Isis, the joint venture between T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T, allows for NFC-based tap-to-pay (and redeem) transactions at the counter. The service was initially rolled out in two locations: Salt Lake City, Utah, and Austin, Texas. Both initial locations were stamped as successful, and now plans have been announced to roll out the service nationwide sometime later this year.

There's an accessory line in the making said to be coming from Nokia in the form of a so-called "Treasure Tag" NFC dongle. This device has been tipped to The Verge as an invention strikingly similar to what we've seen from Tile, bringing NFC-enabled miniature pieces of plastic that attach to your every beloved device and valuable. Here with Treasure Tag, Nokia will allow you to track a collection of tags in real time, using none other than Nokia Lumia devices' LiveSight app to track these tags in augmented reality.

NFC ring aims to open doors, literally

It's not the first time we've seen NFC embedded in odd products - the folks at Geak have even tried to make ring of their own - but here with John McLear's invention, uses appear unlimited. Here with what's called - quite simply - "NFC Ring", McLear suggests that you'll be able to do anything a standard NFC tag would be able to to, including linking to webpages, sharing codes and URLs, and sending commands to phones (just so long as they've got the right app to do so). What's not to like?

It's time for Sony's second effort in the SmartWatch business, this time with a device that - once again - comes out well before any comparable efforts in wearable industry take shape. This device is appearing this week with Clove, an international web-based spot for sales of such devices, with the company suggesting they'll have the machine in-stock starting on the 15th of July. Sony VAIO Fit notebooks target back-to-school sharers with NFC

Sony has revealed its latest entry-level VAIO notebooks, the VAIO Fit series, with a choice of 14- and 15.6-inch displays, 3rd-gen Intel Core processors, and the option of dedicated NVIDIA graphics. Kicking off from $649 for the VAIO Fit 14 and $699 for the VAIO Fit 15 - which have 1600 x 900 and 1920 x 1080 displays, respectively - the new Fit range also throw in features like NFC for easier transfer of content between notebooks and Xperia smartphones.
