Where netbooks go, their deskbound nettop brethren eventually follow, and as NVIDIA’s Ion GPU has made its impact on the graphics capabilities of budget ultraportables, so it has its sights set on compact desktops too. ASRock and NVIDIA worked together on the ION 330-BD, a Blu-ray toting nettop that pairs Intel’s Atom processor with NVIDIA’s ION platform, and sent one over to prove to SlashGear that just because the footprint is small, it doesn’t mean the performance is too.

SlashGear Week in Review – Week 35 2009

Another week has come and gone leaving us with memories and a hoard of cool stories to throw your way for weekend reading in case you missed them over the week. An Asus 900HA netbook was hacked into a touchscreen slate on Monday and we really liked it. DIY gear is so cool, especially when it turns out this good. The ASUS Eee Top ET2002T all-in-one - which slots NVIDIA's Ion GPU into the nettop - has made its official appearance on the company's US site, together with getting an official announcement along with its 22-inch ET2203T sibling..  First spotted on a French retailer's site last week, the ET2002T packs Intel's dual-core Atom 330 processor together with a 20-inch 16:9 aspect touchscreen display and DVD burner. Acer Veriton N260G nettop arrives in US for $399: No Ion, no love

Acer's Veriton N260G has been launched in the US, shortly after its arrival in the UK, but unfortunately the company hasn't seen fit to slot in the NVIDIA Ion GPU while it chugged across the Atlantic.  The Veriton N260G-U2802CP still packs Intel's 1.6GHz Atom N280 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM and a 160GB hard-drive, but unlike its Aspire Revo consumer cousin the business-focussed N260G uses Intel GMA 4500M graphics. And now it's time to get some of that NVIDIA goodness out there. Lenovo has launched the IdeaCentre Q100/Q110 nettops, which are housing the impressive NVIDIA Ion graphics processor. As if the NVIDIA Tegra wasn't good enough for the mobile market, it looks like company's like Lenovo know a good thing when they see it, and with the prowess that the Ion boasts, it's looking like the upcoming releases are prepped to be fantastic machines. Dell Inspiron Zino HD: nettop size, desktop power?

Dell's latest mini-desktop, the Inspiron Zino HD, has broken cover, but the company obviously has some blackmail-quality information about Engadget and Gizmodo as neither site are spilling the details of what's inside the low-profile box.  Known so far is that there's an optical drive, plenty of ports and interchangeable top covers with various patterns and finishes. Lenovo IdeaCentre C100 all-in-one: Vista now, touchscreen Windows 7 later

Lenovo have quietly introduced a new all-in-one nettop, the IdeaCentre C100, based on Intel's N270 1.6GHz Atom processor and up to 2GB of RAM.  Initially hitting shelves this month running Vista and with a standard 20-inch display, the C100 will get an upgrade to Windows 7 once the new OS arrives in October, along with an optional touchscreen layer. NVIDIA Ion LE 1080p GPU confirmed: cheaper, drops DirectX 10

NVIDIA have released a second graphics product in their Ion range, the Ion LE, intended for entry-level devices such as netbooks and nettops.  Ion LE is apparently exactly the same as the existing Ion - which boosts netbook video performance to handle 1080p high-definition - aside from it lacks DirectX 10 support.
