SlashGear 101: What is Chromecast?

Google's Chromecast device is a Web media player, introduced by the company just a bit over a year after they first showed of a machine with very similar capabilities: the Nexus Q. Where the Nexus Q came into play as a bocce-ball-sized TV "box", Chromecast is the size of a USB dongle, small enough to fit in your pocket. It connects through a television's full-sized HDMI port and you'll be able to pull it up with the input button on your television remote, the same as you would a DVD player.

Arrested Development season 5 Netflix talks confirmed

Netflix is in talks to bring Arrested Development back for a fifth season, it's been confirmed, despite mixed reviews for season four when it debuted on the on-demand streaming provider back in May. "We are in conversations with [Netflix] to do another" Brian Grazer, CEO of production company Imagine Entertainment responsible for the show, told Bloomberg, describing Netflix as "interested in doing that."

Netflix and Amazon ink DreamWorks and Disney content deals

Netflix and Amazon's LOVEFiLM are each getting a burst of new content, its been announced, with DreamWorks and Disney each promising fresh on-demand titles for the cord-cutting favorites. On Netflix, a new deal with DreamWorks will see more than 300 hours of new programming based on existing and upcoming franchises such as Turbo added, while LOVEFiLM will get a mixture of new and classic titles like Dumbo, Ratatouille, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Netflix user profiles to tame multi-user recommendations this summer

Netflix finally intends to add multiple user accounts to a single subscription, ending the days of your kids' favorite shows skewing your action movie recommendations. The system is expected to launch sometime this summer, Netflix VP of Product Innovation Todd Yellin told Yahoo News, and will split users off into different profiles so as to keep their recommendations more accurate.
