Acer may have lost a CEO over arguments whether tablets and ultra-mobility was the future, but the company isn't acting too conservatively even with a PC stalwart at the helm. According to the latest rumors, Acer is phasing out netbook orders in favor of tablet production, with slates like the Acer Iconia Tab A500 - which went on sale today for $449.99 - replacing Aspire One netbooks. ASUS has officially confirmed its two new AMD Fusion APU-based netbooks, the 10.1-inch Eee PC 1015B and the 12.1-inch Eee PC 1215B. ASUS CEO: 3D quadcore tablet in 2011, maybe Windows Phone in 2012

ASUS has confirmed plans to launch a 3D tablet running a quadcore processor sometime in 2011, though the slate will not have 3D cameras like the LG G-Slate. Speaking to hi-tech.mail.ru, ASUS CEO Jerry Shen said that quadcore chips - presumably NVIDIA's Kal-El - will be essential for smooth video playback at Full HD resolution or higher. The research firm has significantly downgraded its sales growth forecast for 2011 and 2012, notching off almost six points to predict a 10.5-percent rise this year and 13.6-percent (down from 14.8-percent) the next.
