NEC unveils new 23-inch MultiSync EX231Wp display

NEC has unveiled a new desktop monitor that lots of features that is thin and lightweight called the MultiSync EX231Wp. The new screen has a 23-inch panel. NEC calls the screen a minimalist design and it has a very thin bezel at 14.6mm with a depth of 14.2mm and a weight of 9.3 pounds with the stand. There have been a few 30-inch LCDs on the market for a number of years with one of the most popular for the professional graphics pro being the Apple Cinema display. NEC has announced a new 30-inch LCD that it is aiming right at that big Apple screen. The new NEC offering is called the PA301W and it comes in the PA301W-BK and PA301W-BK-SV models. The difference is that the latter version also ships with SpectraView calibration software and a sensor for calibration.

We may have a soft spot for NEC's PaPeRo robot because of his endearingly huge eyes and squat little body, but the Japanese company's latest research suggests that the companion 'bot does in fact have a tangible impact on elderly people it accompanies. NEC ran a month-long trial in late 2010, pairing up the autonomous PaPeRo with elderly testers, and found that when the robot fed them with up to date activity information, local events and news, over 80-percent reported more life satisfaction, and 25-percent actually began doing more activities outside of the home.
