Take what appears to be plastic and case design left-over from an old VHS cassette, slap in a cheap looking keyboard and infuriating mouse, and then weep – yes, weep – to have designed the latest, tragic addition to the 8.9-inch netbook market.  What makes this particular model, the LaVie Light, even worse is that it’s the handiwork of NEC, a company whom while we may not associate with high design, at least hasn’t resorted to insulting our eyes in the past.

Newly announced is a NEC professional-grade 82-inch LCD display for corporate and digital signage application. The MultiSync LCD8205 is a full HD 1920×1080 LCD TV panel which has a screen response speed of 8ms to deliver a full HD grade picture quality. The panel also boasts the latest technologies, such as a maximum contrast ratio of 5000:1, 600 cd/m2 brightness with internal heat sensor for thermal protection, and 178-degree viewing angle based on a SPVA panel.

NEC has unveiled its second EA series of MultiSync desktop monitor with EA221WM, a 22-inch premium enterprise display built with top-performing panel technology at $390 retail price. The ENERGY STAR(R) compliant monitor has a native resolution of 1680×1050 with LCD panel capable to produce 250 cd/m(2) brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio at 5ms pixel response time.

NEC Wireless USB chipsYour Wireless USB peripherals could be whipping along at a much faster rate before long, with NEC’s announcement of their new uPD720171 Wireless USB PCI host controller.  The new controller can transfer data at up to 480Mbps within a maximum range of three meters, and will be included in both MiniCard or Half-Minicard expansion cards and ExpressCard formats.

NEC have taken the wraps off of the MultiSync EA261WM, a 26-inch desktop LCD monitor with WUXGA resolution.  That means a full 1,920 x 1,200 resolution widescreen panel that, in the EA261WM’s case, boasts a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, 400 cd/m2 brightness and 5ms response time.  Knocking Lenovo’s 22-inch WUXGA ThinkVision L220x Wide into the proverbial cocked-hat, the NEC display takes the top spot for high-resolution.

The NEC Display Solutions of America has announced a new series 3 AccuSync displays aimed for multimedia and high performance workhorse at competitive prices. The new line-ups are 17-inch and 19-inch featuring SXGA screen size of 1280×1024, 5ms response time, NaViSetTM user interface control as well as DVI and D-Sub inputs. Both has optional multimedia version with built-in multimedia speakers.
