Magellan RoadMate 1340 and 1440 PNDs

After the Magellan RoadMate 1470 PND yesterday, the GPS company have another two sat-nav devices looking for our favor.  The Magellan RoadMate 1440 slots neatly under the 1470, with a 4.3-inch touchscreen (down 0.4-inches), while the Magellan RoadMate 1340 (shown here) takes the bottom rung with a 3.5-inch 4:3 aspect touchscreen. TomTom ONE 140 & 140S, XL 340 & 340S PNDs

As well as the GO 740 LIVE, TomTom have announced four other new GPS models in their ONE and XL ranges, and we caught up with the company at MobileFocus to check them out.  The TomTom ONE 140 and ONE 140S both have a 3.5-inch touchscreen, while the TomTom XL 340 and XL 340S have a 4.3-inch touchscreen; in each case, the ‘S’ suffix indicates text-to-speech support for spoken street and place names.

Peek Pronto & Google Maps for Peek in development?

It looks as though Peek are developing Google Maps functionality, either for the existing Peek email device or for their upcoming Peek Pronto.  A SlashGear reader spotted a Peek user browsing Google Maps on the NYC subway, something the current emailer is unable to do.

Taping magnets to crocodiles could protect Florida residents

TeleNav GPS for G1 announced: Video review at Android Community

TeleNav have announced the first turn-by-turn GPS app for Android and the T-Mobile G1, complete with full color 3D graphics, speech recognition, one-click route recalculation and traffic alerts, together with weather updates, gas prices and restaurant reviews.  Over at Android Community they’ve already been playing with TeleNav, and have their full review up complete with a video demo of the navigation app in action.
