HTC’s next big thing will be rolling out on T-Mobile this July 2011, and now we’ve got a real solid date on this newest in the relatively long line of well-received devices with the same name. Ever hear of the myTouch 3G? Sounds sort of familiar. Also take a look at this review to see what we think of myTouch as it existed in the past. Now for this newest version, we’ve got a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, lovely construction all around, and a price sitting right at the usual $199.99 we’ve come to expect from big pink.

This device will be coming out for you on the 27th of July, 2011, and you’ll be able to pre-order the device by the end of this week. The myTouch legacy hits hard in the photo department, and what do you know, the non-slider is still one of T-Mobile’s most popular phones right now on the market. Imaging that! Of course THE MOST popular phone on T-Mobile right now is the HTC Sensation, and with good reason – it’s a sweetie.

Will the myTouch 4G continue to reign now that there’s a slider in town, or will the slide push the screen-only off the cliff? Also what about this Apple VS HTC legal business? Will Apple continue to try to touch HTC, or will the myTouch touch Apple so much there’s just a touchiest going on the likes of which we’ve never seen before?

And what about that sweet camera?

And did you know there’s still some stragglers by other names coming out in other parts of the country and the world? How about the HTC Panache, a myTouch device with a 13400 mAh battery (that’ll never run out!) Stay tuned with us here on SlashGear, we’ll have a myTouch 4G Slide review for you up before you know it!

Bizarrely, T-Mobile have reskinned HTC’s own reskinning effort, with a customised version of the HTC Sense widgets we’re familiar with from HTC-branded handsets. A 600MHz processor keeps things running smoothly, and there’s a new “Genius” button which triggers voice-recognition functionality.

The T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide will arrive in stores on June 2nd 2010; it’ll be priced at $179.99 with a new, two-year agreement. More details – and hands-on photos – over at Android Community.

T-Mobile USA have thrown up their latest Android handsets, though don’t get too excited: we’re looking at a basic refresh with nothing more than a 3.5mm headphone jack to tempt you. The T-Mobile myTouch 3G has been updated with that much-prized socket, rather than demanding you use either HTC’s ExtUSB handsfree kit or the cumbersome adapter.

Update: Pricing details and news on more memory after the cut

What we don’t know yet is how much the new versions – which will be released in black and white – will cost. Nor have T-Mobile confirmed release dates; both smartphones are merely shown as “coming soon”, and there are no product pages as yet.

It seems likely that the new myTouch 3G will be significantly cheaper than the myTouch 3G Fender Edition, which currently retails for $179.99 with a new contract, if only because it comes with a microSD card that, at 8GB, is half the size. We’ll keep an eye on the T-Mobile site to see if they add up any more information.

Update: T-Mobile USA have been in touch to confirm that the new myTouch 3G is available from today, priced at $149.99 with a new agreement. As well as the 3.5mm headphone socket it now has 288MB of memory and Swype preinstalled.

Ugly. Sorry, but it’s word-association-Friday here at SlashGear, and we’re singularly uninspired by what’s tipped to be the T-Mobile myTouch Slide, headed to the carrier in mid-May. Initially described as the hardware-keyboard version of the HTC Magic (aka myTouch 3G), Droiddeveloper’s source delivered not only front and back shots of the Android handset but a few specifications too.

The phone apparently has a camera with LED flash (of unspecified resolution), microSD card slot accessible without taking out the 1,300mAh battery, and an ARM11 CPU that’s probably the same 528MHz Qualcomm chipset as in the Magic. The display is an HVGA 320 x 480 panel, again, the same as the Magic, and HTC have replaced the trackball with an optical trackpad that doubles as a select-key.

According to the most recent rumors, T-Mobile will be dropping the myTouch Slide on May 17th. Let’s hope the rumored plans to dump Sidekick in favor of the Slide aren’t true.

Finally a Dell device is also suggested for the T-Mobile network, though TmoNews’ tipster reckons it’s not a cellphone like the Dell Mini 3 for AT&T. That’s prompted speculation that the carrier may be offering a 3G-integrated netbook from Dell’s Mini range, though right now there’s no confirmation either way.

We first heard about the limited edition myTouch 3G Fender handset back in October. The device was delayed and didn’t launch as quickly as we expected. T-Mobile has finally announced the official launch date of the handset.

T-Mobile says that the Fender edition of the myTouch 3G will be available starting on January 20 for $179.99 after a new two-year agreement. The phone looks really cool and underneath the attractive guitar-inspired theme of the phone, it’s the same myTouch 3G that has been around for a while.

The phone will come with some nice features like a 16GB microSD card and music from Eric Clapton pre-loaded. The free Clapton tracks include “Layla,” “My Father’s Eyes,” “Rock ‘N’ Roll Heart,” and “Wonderful Tonight.” The handset also ships with Guitar: Solo and Music Light apps pre-loaded.

Back in August HTC confirmed that certain models in their Android line-up would eventually get an upgrade to HTC Sense, the UI debuted on the well-received HTC Hero. Now HTC Asia has pushed out Sense for the Magic; however it appears to be only for unlocked versions of the Magic (and potentially only Asian-language models) rather than carrier-branded versions such as the T-Mobile myTouch 3G.

Unfortunately that’s a side-effect of “with Google” branding, meaning that both the myTouch 3G and the Vodafone Magic are unlikely to be eligible for the update. It’s also unclear whether the original T-Mobile G1 (aka the HTC Dream) will be eligible for a Sense update.

HTC Sense not only tweaks the Android UI, increasing desktop panes from three to seven and adding various interactive widgets, but introduces social networking integration into the smartphone’s contacts app. Full details in our HTC Hero review.

Considered T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G but not yet convinced? The carrier understands your reticence, and so to swing things in their favor they’ve done the obvious thing and enlisted the help of Whoopi Goldberg. Yes, everybody’s favorite Sister Act star not only loves the myTouch 3G, but enough to grin aimlessly while playing with it on video.

Video advert after the cut

Whoopi is joined by Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson and TV personality/motorcycle maven (yes, that’s T-Mobile’s description) Jessie James. Each of them are keen – nay, overjoyed – to be able to share with you how they use the myTouch 3G, though they won’t actually tell you out loud (perhaps because that cost significantly more?)

So, Phil says the Android smartphone (aka the HTC Magic) “is a miracle tool” while Whoopi apparently uses it to find hot-dogs and Jessie likens the customized wallpapers and other fettling T-Mobile offer to his own tattoos. If this slab of celebrity endorsement has swung you over to the Android side, you’ll be ecstatic to know that the T-Mobile myTouch 3G is available right now, priced at $199.99.

It has been only a few weeks since RadioShack announced that it was rebranding itself as The Shack. Only a few weeks before that big name change the company announced that it would be offering T-Mobile phones in its retail locations.

RadioShack announced today that the T-Mobile myTouch 3G is now available to purchase in its 4,000 retail stores. That means if your area has no T-Mobile location you can finally get your hands on the cool Android device without having to order online and wait for it to get to your door.

The thing I wonder about is why RadioShack is still referring to itself as RadioShack rather than The Shack since the name change is official. The corporate name is still RadioShack, but you would think they would want to get the new name out there rather than making announcements as RadioShack. Android fans in Puerto Rico can also get the myTouch 3G in RadioShack locations there as well.

Since the HTC Hero debuted, owners of the company’s existing Android smartphones have been wondering whether they’d see HTC Sense – the company’s custom UI – released for their phones. Hopes were raised and then dashed back in June, when HTC confirmed that Sense would be available on certain devices, only those not “Google” branded; they’ve reiterated that at a Taiwan press conference, revealing that the unlocked HTC Magic will seen an update but the T-Mobile myTouch 3G and Vodafone HTC Magic will not.

The issue remains one of licensing and branding, with official “with Google” devices such as the myTouch 3G being ineligible for the extent of customization Sense brings thanks to Google’s T&Cs. However it seems that the Magic on sale in Taiwan is not a “with Google” device, and hence HTC can release their updated UI.

Sense will be available at an unspecified point in the future, just not for the Vodafone or T-Mobile devices, which also have less RAM than the unlocked version of the smartphone and thus might have struggled to run the UI anyway. Expect homebrew merchants to have a field day, however, and we’ve a feeling that if you still want Sense on your phone and you don’t mind rooting it and doing a little elementary modding, you’ll be able to have the UI unofficially at some point in the near future.

30-Day Free Trial on TeleNav.com

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – August 4, 2009 – TeleNav announced today that TeleNav GPS Navigator will be one of the first turn-by-turn GPS navigation services available to run on the T-Mobile® myTouch™ 3G with Google. TeleNav GPS Navigator will be available for a free 30-day trial beginning tomorrow, August 5, when the device goes on sale in retail stores and online. To sign up for the free trial, T-Mobile MyTouch 3G customers should visit TeleNav’s website.

“TeleNav GPS Navigator on the myTouch 3G turns the phone into a powerful GPS device,” said Sal Dhanani, TeleNav’s co-founder and executive director of marketing. “We invite all myTouch 3G customers to take advantage of the free trial and let us know what they think.”

TeleNav GPS Navigator on the T-Mobile myTouch 3G includes full-color 3D moving maps along with voice and on-screen turn-by-turn driving directions. Navigation is available in both landscape and portrait mode. If drivers miss a turn, they will automatically be rerouted. TeleNav GPS Navigator also includes speech recognition for both address entry and business search. On the T-Mobile myTouch 3G, customers simply press one button and say the name of a business or the address and TeleNav GPS Navigator will provide directions. Subscribers can also preplan trips online by accessing their account through My TeleNav. TeleNav GPS Navigator includes listings of more than 10 million businesses and services, including restaurants, hotels, shopping malls and movie theaters – providing users access to restaurant ratings and reviews as well as phone numbers for business listings.

Once on the road, TeleNav GPS Navigator monitors each specific route and will proactively search for known traffic congestion or incidents. Customers will be alerted to traffic problems, both audibly and on-screen, and can choose to find another route to their location by just pressing one button. TeleNav customers also have the ability to set daily traffic commute alerts. At the requested times, TeleNav GPS Navigator will send an email alert with a summary of current known traffic conditions and delays for their routes, helping users decide when to get on the road in order to avoid traffic congestion.

Additionally, TeleNav GPS Navigator includes location-based weather information. Customers can see current weather conditions as well as a five-day forecast for their present location or for a destination of their choice in the U.S.

Finally, with advanced preference enhancements, TeleNav customers have the flexibility to choose whether to avoid high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes and toll roads. In addition, subscribers can pause and resume the navigation at any time they choose, as well as set the map display colors to a ‘nighttime’ mode for easier viewing at night.

HTC have confirmed that they are looking to develop an upgrade package to deliver HTC Sense, their latest UI as demonstrated on the new Hero smartphone, to earlier Android models. However, due to licensing issues, devices which are “with Google” branded – such as the T-Mobile G1 and Vodafone Magic – will not get the upgrade.

The limitation comes as part of Google’s three-tiers of Android deployment, and their insistence that anything branded with their name should deliver the full, unmodified Android experience. That insistence has meant that other HTC developments, such as Exchange support on the Magic, have not made it to Android devices officially on sale in the US and Europe. The upcoming T-Mobile myTouch 3G will also be a Google-branded phone, and as such not get Sense.

According to HTC, there are potential logistical and R&D cost issues that might scupper a more limited Sense roll-out to non “with Google” existing devices, however, so an upgrade is by no means definite. It may be that cracked ROMs are the only way for existing owners to beautify their Android device.

The Huawei U8230 has a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a 3.2-megapixel camera and use a Qualcomm chipset. The manufacturer has stated that the runtime from the 1,500mAh battery will be longer than any other Android phone.

There’s no word on whether it’s the U8230 that’s being called the G1Touch, or if – as has been expected so far – it’s actually the T-Mobile version of the HTC Magic. That smartphone is already on sale in the UK, as the Vodafone Magic, and was expected to arrive on T-Mobile USA at least as the myTouch 3G. We may have to wait until next week to get some solid clarification on which handset is which, and what all the official names are.

“Next week, T-Mobile will share more details about its next Android-powered phone, the follow-on device to the T-Mobile G1 with Google. More details on additional T-Mobile smartphones for this summer will follow.”

The myTouch 3G is set to be just the first of T-Mobile’s new smartphone range, seemingly, with more models promised after its announcement. According to the PR-speak, while we may only be seeing a debut, not a launch, of the next Android smartphone next week, it’s set to arrive sometime over the summer.

The phone is expected to be little different from the HTC Magic already on sale in Europe, though obviously with the necessary T-Mobile USA 3G band support. For full details on the phone, check out our review over at Android Community.

It seems T-Mobile USA have decided on a name for their launch of the HTC Magic, and it’s one of the suggestions the carrier tested out in last month’s survey. The HTC T-Mobile myTouch 3G is the same underlying device as the Magic smartphone Vodafone Europe launched recently, but will go on sale in the US as the follow-up to the T-Mobile G1.

The screenshot above, from T-Mobile’s own inventory system, suggests that three color options will be on the table: black and white, as we’ve already seen, and a merlot (i.e. red) option. Still no word on release date or pricing, however.

The T-Mobile myTouch 3G has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G HSDPA. It runs the Google Android OS, and differs predominantly from the T-Mobile G1 in that it solely has an on-screen keyboard, rather than a hardware ‘board.
