Nokia Lumia 720 hands-on: high-end on a budget

With the Nokia Lumia 720, the company continues with their unique design solution with high-end specifications on a low-cost Windows Phone 8 solution. Here we're finding this lovely device to be rather like the Nokia Lumia 820, complete with "pillowy" design elements. The glass up front is curved around the edges, software is swift and rather responsive, and the whole experience is, if we didn't know better, appearing very much to be the nicest Windows Phone 8 show of power on the market.

This week at Mobile World Congress 2013 the folks at Nokia have revealed the new Lumia 520, a device that's made to bring the Windows Phone 8 experience to the world along with the Nokia Pure design experience at an extremely low price point. This device has what Nokia calls high-end innovation while it does so with 3G connectivity - like the Lumia 720, this is another device made for the non-LTE networks around the world.

This week the Nokia lineup was expanded for Windows Phone 8 with the new Nokia Lumia 720. This device is one of two new Lumia devices to be showing up at Mobile World Congress 2013, the other being slightly smaller and coming in quite similar with the name Lumia 520. The Lumia 720 works with a lovely S, otherwise looking quite similar to the already launched Lumia 820 - on the market in both the USA and abroad.

With the Nokia 105 the company has introduced their new entry point - the least expensive device they're about to offer at just 15 EURO. This device has a lovely color screen - games - very basic games, that is - and a splash and dust-proof keypad. It's got a flashlight, "amazing" battery life, and a Nokia look. This device will take the most basic elements that make a Nokia device and make it inexpensive - extremely inexpensive.

This device will work with email with Exchange, it'll have upgraded web connectivity with Asha-like access. This week Qualcomm is stepping up to the plate with their AllJoyn software framework, driving with it connections between devices galore - creating interoperability for what they call the "Internet of Everything." This announcement takes the AllJoyn universe and extends it to devices with different operating systems and from hardware vendors from all directions. With the AllJoyn SDK, developers will now be given all the tools they need to create "dynamic, ad-hoc networks" between devices with advanced connectivity, discoverability, security, and management galore.
