If you fancy one of Dell’s new multitouch capable computers, but want both the portability of a notebook and the scale of a desktop, then the new Dell Studio 17 Touch might fit the bill. As the name suggests, the notebook has a 17.3-inch 1,600 x 900 display with mutlitouch support, as well as up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, processors ranging from 2.1GHz Pentium dual-core T4300 up through to Core i7 processors, and of course Windows 7 as the OS.
MSI have pushed out another all-in-one in its Wind Top line, and this one offers both Full HD 1080p support and a touchscreen. The MSI Wind Top AE2220 has a 21.5-inch 16:9 display running at 1,920 x 1,080, multitouch support, a choice of Intel’s 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo T6600 or 2.1GHz Pentium dual-core T4300 processors, and NVIDIA Ion graphics.
A week ago we described HTC’s HD2 as the poster-child for Windows Mobile 6.5, despite HTC having to replace, rework or generally junk a lot of the Microsoft OS’ native functionality and replace it with their own. One such change – and a particularly welcome one at that – is multitouch support, but HTC have limited its use in the final build to the browser and a few other apps. Now there’s a nifty app which unlocks multitouch support in every app system-wide.
Zooomer for the HTC HD2 will work with any .exe executable file on the Windows Phone, and basically add in multitouch control. That’s going to be of mixed use, of course, since not all apps will really benefit from it, but we’re glad to at least have the choice ourselves. The functionality is selective, too, which means you can turn off Zooomer’s multitouch on an app-by-app basis if you’re experiencing problems or just find the zooming frustrating (such as in certain games, perhaps).
Twelve months ago HTC shook up the Windows Mobile world with the launch of the Touch HD, a smartphone that offered a vast touchscreen, lashings of connectivity and the latest version of their UI tweaking, TouchFLO 3D, to produce what was hitherto thought impossible: an alluring Windows Phone. Now, the company have attempted just such a revolution with Windows Mobile 6.5 in the shape of the HTC HD2. They’ve upped their game with a speedy Snapdragon processor, even vaster display and a fresh UI that’s been educated by their recent work on Android. Can the HTC HD2 again do the unthinkable, and give us a reason to love Windows Mobile?
Microsoft’s Courier project – a dual-display “book” style electronic journal – has been intriguing us since it first leaked back in September, and the latest spillage of UI details courtesy of Gizmodo’s mysterious tipster is doing nothing to temper our interest. The twin screens are both multitouch-capable and respond to fingers and the special stylus, the latter having two side-buttons (the upper one being an “undo” key), an eraser on the other end, and a rotating barrel that flips between different pen modes.
It’s fair to say that the last time we saw excitement to this degree about a Windows Phone it centered on the HTC Touch HD, and so it seems only right that it’s the company’s successor to that handset, the HTC HD2, that is prompting such interest in 2009. Announced last month after copious rumors, what makes the HD2 special is its 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, HTC Sense UI and 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. It’s taken a while, but the HTC HD2 has finally dropped onto the SlashGear test bench, so check out our first impressions and an unboxing video after the cut.

Having gone up for preorder in Europe midway through October, the upcoming multitouch-capable ASUS Eee PC T91MT has now shown up for preorder in the US. Amazon are listing the convertible touchscreen netbook – the T91MT-PU17-WT, to give it its full, catchy title – for $549, though they don’t have any specific release date.
Having heard over the weekend that the GSM version of the Motorola DROID – the Motorola MILESTONE – would be landing in Europe later this month on carrier O2, Mobile-Review’s always-on-the-inside Eldar Murtazin has pushed out a video of the handset in action. As well as swapping the CDMA of the Verizon DROID by Motorola for GSM/UMTS, the new MILESTONE also gains multitouch support in Android 2.0.

We’ve featured Ideum and their multitouch tables before on SlashGear, but the company have been in touch to flaunt their latest development: an ultra-wide touchscreen surface. Billed as “one of the largest contiguous multitouch tables ever developed”, the new table is based on the same optical touch recognition system as their standard MT-50 but has a 100-inch surface and an 86-inch viewable area, and can recognize over 50 different simultaneous touch points.

Acer has become the latest manufacturer to announce a multitouch-capable LCD monitor suitable for use with Windows 7. The Acer T230H is, at 23-inches, slightly larger than its Dell and HP counterparts, but offers the same Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. It recognizes one- and two-finger gestures, such as pinch-zoom and chiral-rotate, and has VGA, HDMI and DVI inputs.
