Audiophile-PMPs are a pretty rare breed, especially if you don't want to empty your entire bank account to acquire one, and so the Nationite S:Flo2 has plenty riding on it. Priced from $119.50 (albeit only netting you a mere 2GB of storage), the S:Flo2's selling point isn't its touchscreen, video capabilities or games, but its excellent audio quality. Joker of the MP4Nation forums has reviewed the S:Flo2, and it turns out you really don't need to spend crazy money to get crazy-good sound.

Cowon D3 PMP tipped to run Android
Cowon's niche has generally been PMPs that offer significantly higher audio quality than rivals, but according to the latest rumors they could be throwing in some fashionable Android action with their next model. Journal Du Geek reckons that the Cowon D3 - the replacement to the venerable D2 - will eschew the company's proprietary OS and replace it with Google's open-source Android platform.

Sony B150 Series & W250 Series Walkman MP3 players launch
Sony has announced two new ranges of MP3 players, targeted at the budget market. The Sony B150 Series Walkman has the familiar memory-stick form-factor, with a 3-line LCD display and basic controls, while the Sony W250 Series Walkman squeezes everything into a set of earphones. 2GB and 4GB versions will be available of each, though only MP3 and WMA (non-DRM) files types are supported on the B150; the W250 can also play AAC and Linear PCM files.

Creative ZEN X-Fi Style, ZEN Style 100 & 300 PMPs launch
Creative have announced their latest range of PMPs, the ZEN X-Fi Style and ZEN Style, kicking off a new "Pure Audio" campaign in which the company look to be pushing their sound quality in an attempt to stave off the iPod. The ZEN X-Fi Style packs a 2.4-inch TFT LCD display, TV-output and X-Fi DSP, while the smaller ZEN Style gets a 1.8-inch TFT LCD, longer battery life (up to 32hrs audio) and smaller capacities.

Archos 1 Vision PMP reviewed: cheap but definitely not cheerful
While fanboi debates rage just as strongly as they ever did, in general gadgets across the board are better designed, better constructed and better performing than we could've hoped for five or so years ago. Premium HiSoundAudio Studio PMP found using disguised cheap chip
Nothing puts the quality cat among the audiophile pigeons like products billed as offering "premium" sound being found to use mainstream components. Latest to potentially fall foul is HiSoundAudio's Studio PMP, on sale for a whopping $345, but which - after MP4 Nation opened it up - was found to be using a Sigmatel 3770 chip as its main processor and DAC, something more commonly found in mid-range MP3 players.
