Griffin’s PowerMate USB controller may be a few years old, but it still manages to pull in buyers.  Anyone not willing to spend $45 on a glorified volume knob, though, might find something to occupy them in MAKE’s weekend project, the Powerfake.

Evergreen USB Mini Trackball

By Chris Davies on Wednesday, Mar 25th 2009 No Comments

I’d wager there’s a special place in all of our hearts for tiny peripherals, and this Evergreen USB Mini Trackball certainly takes miniaturization seriously.  A blocky 30 x 30 x 20mm, with a retractable USB cord, the trackball fits in both left and right mouse buttons and a scroll button on its top side.

Gigabyte have released a range of new, not exactly attractive peripherals at CeBIT 2009 this week, including the bizarrely crystal-encrusted GM-M7800S wireless mouse seen here.  Obviously the one thing better than a 1,600dpi leather-clad mouse is one studded with a few Swarovski  crystals that you won’t even see when using it.

It may look like Apple’s ill-fated puck mouse, but the Cyber Sport Orbita Mouse is a whole lot cleverer under its silicone skin.  Free-rotating for super convenient scrolling, the Orbita can be as simple as a new way to navigate webpages or as complex as a 3D controller.  SlashGear strapped on the crash helmets in preparation for some serious spinning.

Cyber E-Style’s Orbita Mouse caught some attention last month with its promise of full-spinning, squeezable flexibility.  Fitted with a digital compass, the Orbita can be free-rotated for as much scrolling as you like, yet will always know which direction is up.  Promising stuff, so SlashGear was keen to get the Orbita in for a play; it landed on our desk today, and so we’ve thrown together an unboxing video and preliminary gallery to keep you occupied until the full review.
