Logitech have unveiled a new headset and mouse, each intended for gamers.  The Logitech G-Series Gaming Mouse G500 takes the G5 mouse and throws in on-the-fly adjustable accuracy up to 5,700dpi, a more comfortable shape and a weight-adjustable body for improved hand-feel.  It also has a “battle finish” which Logitech reckon will put you in the right frame of mind for a bout of online gaming.

It would be, perhaps, too easy to write off the Mouse Blister as a gimmicky, ridiculous idea, and so we’ll leave any value judgement up to you.  Intended to prevent your mouse from slipping out of your hand, shooting off across the desk or leaving you with a twisted, withered claw, the system consists of 25 self-adhesive pads that give the peripheral a “moth-eaten armadillo” appearance.

Logitech isn’t the only company with new PC peripherals today; Microsoft have announced their new keyboard and mouse set, the Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000, which bundles a “comfort curve” keyboard and their Wireless Mouse 5000.  As well as promising reduced discomfort from regular use, the set include various Windows 7 features.

Logitech have announced a new “unifying” USB receiver for use with its latest wireless keyboard and mice, which allows up to six of the company’s compatible devices to be connected with the one receiver.  The Logitech Unifying Receiver will land in the US and Europe in September 2009, bundled with the new Wireless Keyboard K350 and K340 models, the Marathon Mouse M705 in early 2010, and the Wireless Mouse M505 in August this year.

More and more notebooks and netbooks are getting multitouch-capable touchpads, but if you’re chugging away with your existing machine and you want some straightforward multi-directional scrolling then you may need to take things into your own hands.  As you can see from the newly-acquired nubbin in the right palm-rest on this Eee PC 901, modder Dave Astolfo decided to extract the trackball from an Apple Mighty Mouse and implant it into his netbook.
