Logitech has outed its latest wireless peripheral, the Touch Mouse M600, and it’s gagging for you to stroke, tickle and generally caress it. Topped with a touch-sensitive surface suitable for both left and right handed users, the M600 can handle click-taps and swipes for gestures, and supports Logitech’s Flow Scroll software for smoother on-screen navigation.

In fact, Logitech reckons it’s as smooth as the scrolling you’re used to on your smartphone. Connectivity is via the company’s Unifying Receiver, a compact USB dongle that can pair with up to six Logitech wireless peripherals simultaneously.

Interestingly, the Touch Mouse M600 gives a choice of power options. The mouse is usually powered with two regular AA batteries, but users can choose to ditch one of them if they’d prefer a lighter peripheral. With two in place, you can apparently expected up to six months of use; half of that if you only use one.

The Logitech Touch Mouse M600 is available for preorder now, priced at $69.99. It’s expected to go on sale later this month.

The thing I don’t like about cordless mice that you have to charge is that they take so long to get a full charge typically. I always forget to plug them in and end up with no mouse for a long time while it charges back up. I generally like wireless mice that use normal batteries better, but if you run out of batteries, you are in trouble. Genius has a new mouse that is perfect for those that like to be green and not use throwaway batteries, yet want something that charges faster too.

The mouse is called the Genius DX-ECO, and it has no battery inside. The mouse uses a capacitor rather than a throw away battery or a rechargeable inside. The capacitor can charge and be ready to go in only three minutes. Other than the fast charging capacitor, the mouse also rocks 2.4GHz wireless connectivity. It has seven buttons and a 1600 dpi BlueEye engine.

The mouse promises to work on many surfaces including your couch, marble, and even glass that is dusty. The gold capacitor can be recharged up to 100,000 times. If 1600 dpi is too much sensitivity for you, the mouse can also operate at 800 dpi. Lefties won’t like that the mouse is a right hand only design. Pricing is set at $39.99, and the mouse is available now.

Logitech has revealed its latest mouse, the Logitech Cube, and it seems someone in the peripheral company’s design has been left with nothing but a ruler to design it. A palm-sized box doubling as a mouse and a wireless presentation controller, automatically switching between the two when you lift it off the desk, the Cube’s entire top surface is a touch-sensitive scroll pad.

While in presentation mode, clicking the Cube in the regular orientation moves forward a slide. However, flip it upside-down in your hand and click, and it backs up to the previous slide. Logitech also offers a “smoother scrolling” plugin to make on-screen motion more slick.

The internal Li-Ion battery recharges via microUSB, and there’s a handy physical power switch so that you can make sure it’s shut down in your bag. Connectivity is with Logitech’s USB Unifying receiver dongle, and up to six can be paired with the Cube at any one time; range is up to 25m.

We’re still not entirely sure how comfortable this new mouse might be for all-day use, but frequent travelers who can’t quite get to grips with a laptop trackpad could find plenty here to like. The Logitech Cube is up for pre-order now, priced at $69.99.

Genius has unveiled a new product called the Ring Presenter. The device slips onto the finger like a ring and has a control pad on the top that allows the user to control the cursor on the computer as they would with a normal mouse. The ring that wraps around the finger is made from rubber for grip and to fit more people.

The touchpad on the top offers full cursor control with what appears to be a d-pad style layout. It also has left, right, and center mouse buttons. The device has an on-screen display and is intended to be used with one hand while standing up. it also has an integrated laser pointer.

The connectivity between the computer and the mouse is via 2.4GHz wireless and the mouse comes in several colors. You can get green, orange, blue, pink, and mauve along with normal black or silver. Wireless range is 10 meters, and the device is available now at an undisclosed price.

3Dconnexion has been around for a long time making pointing devices that are much different from the typical mouse most of us use. Most of these 3D mice that the company makes are aimed at the professional user that designs things with CAD or CAM software. The latest mouse for the firm has now surfaced and it is called the SpaceMouse Pro.

This mouse has a ton of features that like it ideal for the pro user needing lots of functionality. The SpaceMouse Pro has a full size hand rest that is coated in a soft material. It sports 15 buttons that are programmable. Those programmable buttons can be linked to commands in applications, standard views, and all sorts of other unions. The SpaceMouse Pro also has an on-screen display.

The main feature is the wheel that allows for full 3D navigation with 6-degrees of freedom. The mouse also has keyboard modifier buttons with shift, esc, cntrl, and alt right on the ergonomic mouse surface. The SpaceMouse Pro will only work on Windows computers. You can purchase the SpaceMouse Pro for $299. The SpaceMouse Pro is shaped much like the SpacePilot PRO from 2009.

This week over at Dreamhack Winter in Jonkoping Sweden, the folks at SteelSeries have revealed two lovely black, white, and merigold (or orange, if you prefer) pieces of equipment, one limited edition Fnatic Sensei mouse and one 7H Fnatic limited edition headset. You’ll find first of all that both of these devices have an interestingly unique look to them, then you’ll find that their quality in attacking the gaming world is of course second to none. Inside the headset you’ll find 50mm dynamic driver units and SNDBlock ear cushions for sound isolation. Inside the mouse you’ll find a 32 bit ARM processor for its ExactTech settings and full customization abilities.

The mouse has a light-up Fnatic team logo and contains the ability to be the most customized mouse on the market. For example the logo and the rest of the lighting on the device has three zones of 16.8 million color illumination options. Light it up in green if you’re using it with a computer with an NVIDIA processor, for example. Inside you’ll also find a 32 bit ARM processor for calculations on the mouse itself, you needing no software drivers to do so, no computer needed! Of course you’ll need a computer to do anything with the mouse, but have a peek at this: sensitivity settings that can be changed in increments of one from 1 to 5,700 CPI and an “overclocked” Double CPI that’ll let you bump it all the way up to a massive 11,400 DCPI. This mouse will cost you a cool $99.99 / €99.99 MSRP.

The headset contains 50 mm dynamic driver units for fabulously detailed and rich sound, fabulous “mood setting music” as they say, and critical 3D positionable sounds and alerts. The padding around your ears is made to block out all ambient noise and the SNDBlock hybrid ear cushions as they’re called are made of both cloth and leather. WHat we’ve got here is sound isolation from the inner leather layer and comfort for your head with the outer cloth layer. You can dismantle the whole set into four pieces for compact transportation and ease in cleaning if that’s something you do with your headsets, and the whole set will cost you right around $139.99 / €114.99 MSRP.

HP has quietly begun shipping its X7000 Wi-Fi Touch Mouse a tad earlier than the expected launch later this week. The X7000 Wi-Fi Touch Mouse connects to your computer or laptop via its built-in Wi-Fi receiver and doesn’t require a wireless router. This way the Wi-Fi-enabled mouse also doesn’t take up one of your USB ports with a dongle, such as is needed with corded or Bluetooth mice.

The X7000 Wi-Fi Touch Mouse features a sleek black finish and an ergonomic design with a rubber side grip, but appears to be shaped and contoured only for right-hand users. It has a touch-sensitive scroll button instead of a scroll wheel and also sports 6 customizable buttons, including one dedicated Facebook button.

The mouse can work on almost any surface and can be used at a range of up to 30 feet away. It also offers up to 9 months of battery life, which is twice the battery life of Bluetooth alternatives. However, the X7000 Wi-Fi Touch Mouse will only work for PCs running Windows 7. It is available now for $59.99.

Logitech has announced the availability of two custom themed peripherals for PC gamers that are fans of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game that will be launching soon. The first of the peripherals is a version of the G9x gaming mouse and the other is a custom version of the G105 gaming keyboard. Both of the peripherals have special COD graphics on them.

The G105 gaming keyboard has green backlighting to help you see the keys in the dark. It also has six “G” keys that the gamers can bind macros and commands to if they want. The keyboard has anti ghosting tech to keep keys from continuing to make the character on screen move around after they are released.

The keyboard supports five key presses at one time and it has a bunch of instant media access keys. The keyboard is available for $79.99. The G9x gaming mouse is available now for $99.99 on pre-order. It has adjustable weight and on the fly sensitivity adjustment, it is good for sensitivity up to 5700dpi down to 200 dpi. The mouse also has onboard memory to recall your game profile no matter what computer you are on.

SteelSeries has announced that its latest gaming peripheral is now shipping to buyers. The peripheral is the Sensei Pro Grade Laser Mouse and it is aimed directly at the avid PC gamer looking for all sorts of features and tweaks specifically to make gaming more fun and the player more accurate. This mouse has an inside sensitivity setting at the high-end thanks to a 32-bit ARM processor inside.

The sensitivity can be cranked all the way up to 11,400 DCPI. The default sensitivity is 5,700 CPI and the double CPI range will take things up to 11,400. I have no idea if a CPI is the same as a DPI as most mice are rated in. That ARM processor inside the mouse is as powerful as the original Pentium processor from 1994. The mouse is for Windows gamers only.

The mouse also has advanced macros to support long macros. SteelSeries again stops short of saying exactly how long the macro can be. The mouse also has a little LCD on the bottom that you can put your own unique image on. The idea is that it looks cool and might prevent theft if your name is on the bottom of the mouse. The mouse also supports 16.8 million different color combinations and has eight buttons total.

This new version adds a rubberized coating for improved grip and durability, a revised button layout for improved remote control operation, and a longer battery life.

Besides these improvements, the Chameleon X-1 looks relatively the same as when we first saw it back in December of last year. It still has the 16 buttons, two analog sticks, and force feedback support. It also maintains a five-stage adjustable 1600dpi optical sensor

The Chameleon X-1 includes a nano transceiver that can be stored in a compartment inside the mouse and it requires one AAA battery to power. It will ship starting October 1, but can be pre-ordered now on Amazon for $59.99. It comes in three colors of red, gray, and purple.

LG has shown off a new mouse prototype that will come to market eventually called the LSM-100. The cool part about this mouse is that it can do more than one thing. The little mouse can also be used as a scanner and a pointing device. The laser sensor inside the mouse used to move the cursor around is also able to be used as a scanner sensor to scan pages up to A3 size.

Generally, a scanner has a sensor as wide as a page, how exactly you would use the mouse in this system is unknown. It appears that the user would have to swipe the mouse around the page on their own manually. The mouse has been tweaked to allow for faster pass rates too. The scanner can grab color images and saves the scans as photos.

It can also save the scans as PDF and other text document files. The mouse has optical character recognition tech inside. The prototype of this mouse was shown off at CES this year. The mouse will launch in Europe at the end of August for about $150. A global launch is expected as well.

If you are, a budget gamer that is in the market for new gaming mouse Logitech has unveiled one that might catch your eye. If you happen to be a lefty, you will really want to give this mouse a look because it is ambidextrous. That is relatively rare from Logitech since most of its gaming mice are for right-handed users only. The new mouse is called the Logitech Gaming Mouse G300.

The mouse looks really cool and it has a shape that looks like it would be comfortable in the hand. This is an optical gaming mouse, which should tell most gamers right away that it is a lower resolution rodent. The mouse has a 2,500 dpi optical sensor. Some geeks really like lower resolutions and if you are one of those people, you are in luck. For me 2,500 dpi seems like a snail’s pace.

The G300 has nine programmable buttons and three onboard profiles for your favorite games. The little band you see on the side’s right at the top of the side grip area is a LED that you can control the color of. The buttons are programmable with the included driver software. Logitech claims the buttons are good for 10 million clicks and the mouse uses USB for connectivity with 1000 reports per second. The G300 is up for pre-order at $39.99.

The latest oddity from Brando is this optical USB scale mouse. When the palm cover is in place it looks like your normal mouse. Pop that cover off and you have a digital scale underneath.

I guess the idea is that you can use the scale to weigh things like mail you need to send. The little digital scale can weigh 0.1g to 500g. It has a scale that can be changed to read in grams, ounces, gn, and ct. The scale needs a pair of AAA batteries for power and the first set is included. The display on the scale is backlit so you can see it in the dark.

The scale also has a calibration setting and a memory button. The mouse measures 120 x 64 x 35mm and the scale measures 59 x 59 x 20mm. If you need one of these for weighing things at your desk you can get one now for $22.

Generally computer gaming and wireless mice are not things that go together in the same sentence. Over the last year or so some nice wireless gaming mice have started to show up that have no lag to affect your game. One of these mice is the Rude Gameware Fierce 3500 wireless gaming mouse. Rude has announced that the mouse will be shipping soon and that it is up for pre-order now.

The mouse can be pre-ordered directly from Rude Gameware for $69.95 right now. The ship date is pegged as the middle of August. The mouse has a tiny 2.4 GHz nano USB adapter and uses 2.4GHz wireless tech inside. The Fierce 3500 has a 3500dpi engine inside. That isn’t nearly as high as some other mice on the market. However, it will be enough for many gamers.

The mouse has onboard memory to store settings so you don’t need software on the computer. There are eight programmable buttons on the mouse and the buttons support macros. The sensitivity can be changed on the fly and the mouse has an LED indicator for the DPI setting.

The gang over at Pocket-Lint went to the big Christmas in July event Microsoft put on recently in London and spied an interesting sounding mouse in the corner getting little attention. Microsoft has this event each year (if you are wondering) because it takes many print publications a good six months to ramp up their holiday coverage. At any rate, the mouse is rather cool and uses Microsoft’s BlueTrack tech inside.

BlueTrack is the special tracking sensor that naturally looks blue when you see the sensor. The big draw to the tech is that it will offer accurate tracking on any surface this side of a mirror. I have used mice with BlueTrack and it works very well, which is a big deal for mobile users that don’t like to travel with a mouse pad.

The mouse has a small USB receiver that is paired from the factory to save you time and that receiver stores away on the bottom of the mouse. The rodent has five customizable buttons and a haptic touch scroll pad is the cool feature of this thing. This same scroll pad was on the Arc Touch mouse a while back. Microsoft is aiming for the mouse to launch at the end of July for £69.99.

The gaming geeks over at Razer have been making some of the best computer peripherals like mice and keyboards for gamers for a number of years now. The company has more recently taken to releasing special edition mice rather than completely new designs. The favorite mouse to get the custom collector’s edition touch from Razer is its DeathAdder mouse. In fact, the last time we talked about the DeathAdder it was getting dressed up in Dragon Age II livery.

Razer is back and that DeathAdder mouse is getting dressed up for fans of the Transformers franchise. The mice are for the tie in to the new flick that opens this week in theaters everywhere. The DeathAdder comes in both Autobot and Decepticon versions with the good guy mice in red for Optimus Prime and yellow for Bumblebee. The bad guys are in silver for Megatron and purple for the new baddies that pop out of the dust on the moon.

All of the mice have the same 3.5G sensor and 3500dpi sensitivity. You can pick up any of the four designs for $69.99 each. To complete your Transformers desk swag you can also get a Transformers Vespula dual sided gaming mouse pad with Optimus on one side and Megatron on the other for $44.99. Razer also has a line of laptop sleeve cases in Transformers style for $49.99 each.

When was the last time you used a mouse? The last time I used a mouse, it was the late 1990s and I was playing the MMORPG Diablo II. Sidenote: Diablo III is coming out soonish, (within the next year, we hope,) and I may need a mouse – any suggestions? Since then, essentially every person I know, my age or otherwise, has been using a laptop for all their computing needs. A desktop replacement, rather, with a trackpad and no need for a mouse. The manufacturing and distribution group Smartfish has just released a product that, by all means, should have been invented years ago: the Mouse Pad Travel Pouch. Will you partake?

Have a look back at a device we reviewed at the beginning of this year: the HP ENVY 17 3D, a desktop replacement notebook. This laptop was (and is) so gigantic and powerful that there’s no reason for you to own a separate device. There’s no reason for you to have a separate computer unless you want to be mobile, that is. And for times like that, what will you do? Will you go for a tiny laptop like a MacBook Air 11.6″? Or will you hit the center with a lovely burnt orange Lenovo U260 IdeaPad? We’ve all got decisions like these to make – but what about that classic symbol of the modern computer, the cursor controller, the clicker, the mouse?

There’s a gaming culture out there that still has mad love for the mouse. A few days ago we reported on a mouse-like device that uses all five fingers: the Double Research & Development Amenbo. A day before that, we spoke about the Kensington Orbit Wireless Mobile Trackball, a lovely mouse with a gigantic red orb that sits under your fingers for classical moving of the cursor in truly any direction. Then there’s items like the Toshiba DX1215 all-in-one PC with a full HD touchscreen – there’s a mouse in the press image, but what in the world would you want it for?

There’s a new HP Wi-Fi mouse on the market, Logitech introduced a brand new Optical Gaming Mouse at the beginning of this month, and the massively technical Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. gaming mouse is just about the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Did I just prove myself wrong? Is the mouse alive and well? There’s a WaterField Keyboard Travel Express bag for your Apple set of peripherals, too, so it’s not just relegated to PC computers.

What’s up, world, is the mouse dead, or will you purchase the oddly enticing Mouse Pad Tavel Pouch for $14.95? Or I suppose you could just put your mouse in the bag you’ve already got. Gaming around the world, or sticking in the house?

Priced at $49.99, the mouse has five programmable buttons and a tilting scroll-wheel for easier navigation.

There’s also adjustable sensitivity – from the 1200 CPI default to up to 1600 CPI – along with the promise of up to nine months use from a pair of AA batteries. HP has resisted the temptation to make the whole thing swoopy, and so it’ll apparently suit both left- and right-handed people.

Of course, it’s the WiFi connectivity that HP is most proud of, and it does mean that those without Bluetooth in their computers can use a wireless mouse without having to sacrifice a USB port for a transceiver dongle. You’ll need a Windows 7 notebook or PC – with WiFi, obviously! – in order to use it.

I particularly like the version of the mouse with the spikes on the side rather than the ring. The design looks really cool, but they aren’t exactly ergonomic. The actual mouse workings of the cool peripherals are a Logitech M305 wireless mouse. You do have to remove three screws from the top of the mouse to get at the battery that powers the Logitech rodent inside.

The Wireless Mouse Version 2 from Aaron Ristau comes in several painted colors. Ristau will even allow you to choose specific keys to use for the left and right mouse buttons if you want and assuming they are available. Each of the mice will cost $180 plus shipping. They aren’t cheap, but steampunk geeks will want one nonetheless.

Logitech has outed a fulsome bevy of tablet accessories, with a choice of wireless keyboards, keyboard docks, speaker systems and more for your iPad or Android slate. Unsurprisingly, perhaps, given Logitech’s peripheral obsessions, text-entry does monopolize the new range: there’s the Logitech Tablet Keyboard for iPad ($69.99), a folding Bluetooth ‘board and stand, and the Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+ ($69.99) which offers the same for Honeycomb.

There’s also the Tablet Mouse for Android 3.0+ ($49.99), a Bluetooth laser mouse for easier cursor control. No mouse for iPad, sadly, but you do get the $99.99 Speaker Stand for portrait or landscape use, and a snap-on Bluetooth Keyboard Case ($99.99).

Both platforms get a wireless speaker – the Wireless Speaker for iPad if you’re an Apple fan, or the Wireless Speaker Z515 for everyone else, though the specs look broadly the same – which hook up via Bluetooth A2DP and offer up to 10hrs of playback. There’s also a 3.5mm aux-in input.

HP is the largest computer maker in the world and the company has a bunch of very nice machines to its credit. The thing that most people will know from HP is its notebooks, but HP also has a line of accessories and desktop computers among other things that are popular. HP has announced some cool new peripherals today, one of them is especially intriguing, and it is called the HP WiFi Mouse. As you can gather from the name, the mouse doesn’t need a USB port or Bluetooth to operate.

The mouse is able to connect with and communicate with your PC via the integrated WiFi adapter inside the computer. The mouse has to be paired the first time and after that it will connect to the computer automatically. The mouse has up to nine months of battery life and has five customizable buttons. The scroll wheel is a four-way unit with side scrolling and more. The wireless range for the mouse is up to 30-feet from the computer and the mouse is ambidextrous.

You can pick the WiFi Mobile Mouse up in June for $49.99. HP is also talking about its new Link-5 technology too. This tech allows the user to connect up to five different HP accessories to their computer with a single USB adapter. Link-5 uses 2.4 GHz technology and has an intelligent sleep mode. The line of accessories that support Link-5 include the HP Wireless Mini Keyboard, HP Ultrathin Wireless Keyboard, HP Wireless Elite v2 Keyboard, HP Wireless Optical Comfort Mouse, HP Wireless Laser Comfort Mouse, and the HP Wireless Mobile Mouse.

In the world of peripherals and accessories for computers, Logitech has some of the best stuff around. The company makes everything from mice and keyboards to speakers and headphones. Logitech has unveiled a new wireless mouse for computer users looking to get something a bit easier to use with a notebook or a desktop.

The worst thing about a notebook for me is the track pad. The things just aren’t accurate and they lack the sensitivity I want in a pointing device. The M325 is an ambidextrous design wireless mouse that uses the tiny Logitech nano receiver that you can plug into a USB port and just leave. It has a special scroll wheel to offer precise scrolling and the battery promises to last 18 months.

That tiny nano receiver will also connect a Logitech keyboard as well so you only lose one USB port for both wireless devices. The wireless tech is 2.4GHz for less lag and interference. Logitech is mum on the sensitivity of the mouse, but it would be safe to assume 800dpi to 1200dpi max with my bet being 800dpi. You can pre-order the mouse right now for $39.99 and the ship date is unknown.

If you work in an office where you have lots of people sitting very close to you it may drive you crazy that most mice and keyboards are so noisy. If you want a mouse that makes no noise at all, that can be hard to find. Every mouse I have ever used has made clicking sounds when you hit a button or scroll the mouse wheel.

A company called Nexus has a new mouse called the Silent Mouse that has a new patented switch for the button that makes no sound when used. The mouse is also wireless with 2.4GHz tech for good range and low latency. The mouse uses a tiny nano receiver.

I really like the nano style receivers since you can plug them into a notebook and just leave them. The mouse has 1000 or 1600 dpi sensitivity with a switch to choose. That is more than your average mouse offers at 800dpi and will be welcome by users that have big screens on their computer. Check out the video below to see the mouse in action.

Verbatim has pulled a matched pair of smallish peripherals out of its pocket for those of you that need some small stuff to travel with caleld the Mini Wireless Slim Keyboard and Mouse. The new mouse and keyboard are sized for portability and the keyboard has a laptop style layout. The gear is wireless too.

Verbatim uses one unified small USB adapter that communicates with the mouse and keyboard both using 2.4GHz technology. The little adapter is one of the small ones that has only a few millimeters of adapter that stick out of the USB port on your computer. That means you don’t even have to pull the adapter out of your notebook when it’s time to move.

The keyboard has full media controls for playing your music from across the room and the mouse and keyboard are both very thin making them easy to pack in a crowded laptop bag of brief case. The keys are low profile and use a quiet-touch technology so they aren’t overly clicky. Verbatim says that the keys do offer nice tactile feedback.

Unlike many mice, which have a recessed nook where the laser lives, the M515 has a smooth, sealed base that Logitech says is to avoid picking up fluff and crumbs when you’re sofa-surfing. It also has easy-glide pads for swift navigation on fabric.

Otherwise there’s the same Unifying receiver, which allows you to use a single USB dongle with multiple Logitech wireless products, up to two years of battery life, and auto-sleep when you’re not gripping it. It’ll go on sale later this month, priced at $49.99.

While it may look similar, the Touch Mouse isn’t the same thing as the previously released Arc Touch Mouse from Microsoft. This time around, the Touch Mouse is meant to look more like a traditional mouse peripheral, but the distinction between a “normal” mouse and this one is pretty clear right off the top: there’s a “matrix of capacitive touch-sensing electrodes” right on the top, allowing for several different multitouch gestures.

For those who drop the money down to get the more traditionally-shaped Touch Mouse, they’ll be able to use gestures like pinch-to-zoom, flick, as well as have the ability to pan, right from the top of the mouse. It’s all the result of the Mouse 2.0 project.

Other features of the Touch Mouse include Microsoft’s BlueTrack technology, which means you won’t have to keep your mouse on the mousepad, but you’ll actually be able to use it on wood, or even carpet without hassle. It’s a 2.4GHz mouse, and there’s a small USB dongle that will be included in the package when it ships to retailers in June of this year. It should have a price tag marked around $79. More information in the release below.

Press Release

Microsoft Touch Mouse is the new multitouch mouse for Windows 7 that will let you click, flick, scroll and swipe so it’s easy and fun to interact with your PC.

Designed to enhance your Windows 7 usage, the Touch Mouse combines the virtues of a mouse with the rich natural language of gesture to offer a more intuitive way to navigate your PC. Touch Mouse also features BlueTrack Technology so you can track virtually anywhere, anytime.1
Behind the Scenes

Did You Know?
The Touch Mouse evolved from the Mouse 2.0 project, a Microsoft Corp. study that combined the standard capabilities of a mouse with multitouch sensing and resulted in five prototypes. Although all the Mouse 2.0 prototypes explored different touch- sensing strategies and form factors, the “Cap Mouse” was ultimately selected to become the Touch Mouse.

Multitouch Technology
The top of the Touch Mouse is composed of a matrix of capacitive touch-sensing electrodes to track the position of the user’s fingertips along its surface.

Meet Benko
Hrvoje Benko, one of the researchers behind the Touch Mouse, worked to create the technology and gestures for this new mouse. He is available for interviews if you are interested in learning more about the development of Touch Mouse.

Top Features and Benefits
- New! Multitouch surface lets you use natural gestures to snap, navigate and control content with a touch of a finger.
- New! Flick scrolling functionality lets you quickly scroll and pan through windows and documents.
- New! Improved task switching on Windows 7 gives you superior mouse performance and experience on the PC.
- BlueTrack Technology allows you to ditch your mouse pad and mouse on virtually any surface,1 including granite, marble, carpet and wood.
- Snap-in Nano transceiver gives you the option to leave the transceiver plugged into the computer or conveniently store it in the bottom of the mouse.
- 2.4GHz wireless technology gives you a confident wireless connection.
- Ambidextrous design for use with either hand.

Touch Mouse Gestures – Easy as 1, 2, 3
Touch Mouse lets you do everything you’re used to doing with a mouse, such as point and click, but also adds gestures with one, two or three fingers to amplify the Windows 7 operating system by creating simple shortcuts to the tasks you want to do most.

Shorter Shortcuts for Windows 7
With the Touch Mouse, you can use your mouse to do tasks that normally involve the keyboard.

Availability and Pricing
Touch Mouse will be available in June 2011 for the estimated retail price of $79.95 (U.S.).2 It will be available for presale starting today at Amazon.com and the Microsoft Store online.

Touch Mouse is backed by a worldwide three-year limited hardware warranty. The limited warranty and license agreement are available at http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/warranty.

Some information in this fact sheet relates to pre-release products, which may be substantially modified before they are commercially released. Microsoft makes no warranties, express or implied, with respect to the information provided here.

1 BlueTrack Technology does not work on clear glass or mirrored surfaces.
2 Estimated retail price. Actual retail price may vary.

There are a lot of different options out there for people who are looking for a particular mouse accessory for their computer. Touch controls are becoming popular, so here’s a concept design that not only has touch controls, but also a flexible touchscreen, and pressure sensitive controls to boot. Not only that, but the designers made sure that when you look at this Mouse for Men, you realize that a real mouse was used for the inspiration.

While the technology within the concept may be unique enough, there’s the fact that the “tail” of the Mouse for Men is actually detachable. It was conceived by designer Nitin Mane, the Mouse for Men is meant to be comfortable to use over long periods of time, thanks to its ergonomic design. The touch controls, along with the pressure sensitive design elements, are all meant to make sure that the user doesn’t have to exert any extra force to use the mouse.

As for the touchscreen display? It’s an OLED. It’s also meant to inform the user as to what type of “mode” you are in, at any given moment. You can change from a standard mouse controls, or to a multimedia mode as well. The controls on the front of the mouse will change depending on what you need. The Mouse for Men was designed for the LG cube Competition 2010.

Smartfish has unveiled an interesting new notebook mouse that has a design different from any other notebook mouse on the market. The new mouse is called the Whirl and it has what Smartfish calls an anti-gravity comfort pivot on the bottom. The pivot looks sort of like a stand that is built into the mouse.

The stand allows the mouse to pivot as you move it around with the idea that the pivoting motion allows you to keep your hand in a more comfortable and natural position to make mousing more comfortable. The Whirl uses laser technology and has an 800 dpi sensor.

The mouse will work with both Mac and PCs and has an ambidextrous design. That means righties and lefties can play with this thing. It uses 2.4GHz wireless connectivity and power comes from an included battery. It will be offered in carbon fiber, black, blue, silver, red, and white colors. You can order the mouse right now for $49.95.

These accessories are made not just for your already branded Lamborghini wares, but for the rest of your electronics as well. There are reportedly four different models of bags coming out including the handy sleeve (cover), sports bag for 12-inch notebooks, classic bag for notebooks up to 17-inches, and a large backpack with multiple compartments – all of these made in fabulous Sant’Agata Bolognese.

Then there’s the really sharp, super suave looking Lamborghini WX-wireless mouse with laser precision. It’s got a range of 10-meters (why on earth would you be that far away?) and has a scroll wheel that looks and feels like a tire. Cute! Finally, a set of external harddrives (not pictured) that’ll be in one size: 640GB and will be available in black or white, both with a fine gloss scratch-resistant coating. Sassy!

Back in 2008 we talked about the Movea Air Mouse that would allow you to mouse on your HTPC or when giving a presentation with actually having a desk to mouse on. This sort of tech is very important in the living room where mouse input is needed, but hard to pull off in most instances.

Movea has announced a new app that will turn your iPhone 4 into an Air Mouse for presentations and for HTPC use. One of the coolest things about the app that runs your iPhone into the Air Mouse is that the app is dirt cheap. You can pick it up on the App Store for $1.99. When that Air Mouse first debuted back in 2008, it sold for $99.

The app works with MotionTools software for the Mac and PC and lets the user customize, activate, and control desktop apps with a flick of the wrist. The app allows for scroll, pan, and zoom. It also allows pen drawing, image stamps, and a highlighter function. The cursor of the mouse can also be turned into a laser pointer or pen with the software. Gesture recognition also allows a swipe to launch apps and you can skip songs in a playlist as well.

Remember those TRON: Legacy peripherals that Razer unveiled a few months back? If you thought that you could probably find yourself buying one this year, then you’ll be happy to know that Razer stuck with their fourth quarter estimates, and have officially launched the gaming mouse. It’s obviously a TRON-themed accessory, and sure enough, the lights on the accessory light up just as we would want them to.

The mouse is available now for purchase, and it will run you a cool $99.99 to get your hand on it. The mouse itself is pretty standard, but you can expect to find 5,500dpi, and 3.5g laser sensor. There are 7 “hyperresponse” buttons. And, as you can tell, it’s themed to look like it came right out of the TRON world. Those lights on the mouse do light up, and it even features sound effects.

Elecom is on a roll with wireless gadgets lately, especially those that take advantage of Bluetooth connectivity. After yesterday’s unveiling of their brand new Bluetooth wireless keyboard, featuring integrated left- and right-click mouse buttons and a trackball, this new wireless mouse seems to be the perfect addition. It’s part of Elecom’s M-BT6BL series, and if you like color options, the new mouse has them.

Of course, we should also point out that, just like the Bluetooth keyboard before it, this new mouse is scheduled to land in Japan well before it launches anywhere else. So, if you’re liking what you see, then you’ll have to make a trip to get your hands on it, at least for now. But, to get your hands on Elecom’s first Bluetooth 3.0 wireless mouse, it may be worth it, right?

Features wise, the mouse measures in at a small 74.3mm x 52.3mm x 33.4mm, and it weighs only 43g without any batteries installed. But, if you need to put batteries in it, you’ll need to find yourself a pair of AAAs. The mouse features 800/1600 DPI resolution, and it will be made available in Japan some time in December. You’ll be able to choose from red, white, or black.

Razer has been making some slick and cool gaming peripherals for a long time now. Back in August, the company pulled the wraps off its latest gaming mouse with the Naga that has tons of buttons and was aimed at the MMO gamer. Razer has now announced a couple special edition Naga mice for gamers.

The new special editions include the Naga Maelstrom and the Naga Molten Special Edition. Functionally the two new special edition mice are the same as the original. They have 17 buttons that feature macro capability, 5600dpi resolution, and the color scheme of the special edition mice is much cooler than the plain black of the original.

The Maelstrom version has what Razer calls a “whirlpool of entrancing blue light” and has blue backlighting behind the buttons and the scroll wheel. The Molten edition has a cracked lava looking finish with red backlighting for buttons and the scroll wheel. Either of the special edition mice will set you back $79.99 and they will ship globally in November.

A new Apple patent application for an Ambidextrous Mouse has been submitted, describing a wireless, user-configurable mouse that could automatically recognize whether it was being held by a left- or right-handed user and adjust its virtual buttons and other controls accordingly. Perhaps more interestingly, however, Apple suggests that the peripheral could also be used to identify the current Mac user by the touch-pattern of their hand.

The mouse Apple has in mind sounds a lot like the current Magic Mouse, with “a unibody housing having a buttonless touch sensitive surface” which would be “divided into an array of independent and spatially distinct sensing regions.” The various button zones – which could be customized in terms of layout, number and purpose – are then set out according to that user’s previous settings.

Such a mouse could be grabbed and used no matter which side of the hardware you were holding; meanwhile Apple also suggest that there could be a number of physical controls – such as track-nubs or scroll wheels – and sensors other than capacitive touch could be used. We don’t really mind giving a second’s thought to how we hold our mouse right now, but having us automatically logged in to the correct use account as soon as we grab it would be great.

Final Fantasy XIV is coming to the PC on September 30th, and with a large title like a Final Fantasy title, it’s expected that accessories with the logo on them would break into the wild. And, sure enough, we’ve got not only a keyboard, but plenty of other peripheral goodies for you PC gamers who plan on spending a large amount of hours plugging into the Final Fantasy universe.

You can choose from a themed keyboard, speakers, mouse, and gamepad to pre-order right now. There is a router included, too, but that’s not on the list quite yet. But, if you take a look at the keyboard above, you’ll notice that the designers effectively forgot one main part of creating a new piece of hardware. Any kind of attractiveness. They look almost military in their design, and the sad part is, that the keyboard doesn’t actually include any features that will help MMO players. It’s just your standard keyboard.

The keyboard will cost you $26, while the gamepad is $46, and the mouse is $59. The speakers, though, those will cost you $61. The router will run you $116 when it goes on sale later this year. We’re not going to say that they look completely terrible, but they could certainly look better. Any Final Fantasy XIV players out there going to pick any of these up?

Microsoft just officially announced their brand new Arc Touch mouse, but it looks like that’s not the only peripheral the Redmond-based company is hard at work on. If this leak from Russian website TheVista.ru has any merit, then it looks like Microsoft is getting ready to add another gadget to their Metro line-up. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of details to be had at this point, but the listing does give us a couple of noteworthy bullet points.

The first of which is Microsoft’s usage of BlueTrack technology. Offering up the reliability of a wired mouse, but giving it to you in a wireless package. What’s also interesting, thanks to that BlueTrack tech and the fact that the mouse is rumored to only launch for $20, it would make this Metro mouse the cheapest of the BlueTrack lineage.

As you can probably tell from the image, the mouse is built to be for both right- and left-handed folks. Which means that it will probably catch the eye of a few people out there. No word on color options, though, but hopefully we’re not stuck with just one bright shade of pink when it launches in March of next year. If it turns out to be a real device, that is.

Asus has been lucky enough to use the Lamborghini name for a few of their popular gadgets over the years. Dating all the way back to 2008, when their laptop broke cover, and even their ZX1 smart phone made its debut. And, the name and product placement must be working pretty well for the pair of companies, because a brand new member of the lineage has just made its way through the FCC. Please welcome the XW-Lamborghini Wireless mouse into the family, everyone.

The mouse is of the wireless laser mouse variety, and as you can see from the image, it sports a very unique and distinctive look. There’s lots of sharp edges and a definite angular appeal to it. Just from looking at it, it doesn’t look all that comfortable, but when you’re travelling at high speeds, clicking repeatedly, who wants to be comfortable, right? Well, probably everyone, but it has the Lamborghini emblem on it, so that should make everything all better.

It will have a nano USB receiver, to make sure that your connection doesn’t waver. The mouse itself will be powered by a single AA battery, so hopefully the lifespan on this guy isn’t too bad. There’s no word quite yet on when the WX-Lamborghini wireless mouse will be ready for retail shelves, or for how much.

The Arc Touch mouse was one of the teased, and re-teased devices that we were generally interested in seeing more of. After the launch of Apple’s “magic” trackpad, seeing what Microsoft could come up with to counter-act Apple’s endeavor was an interesting thought. And, now that we’ve got an official announcement from the Redmond-based company, we can say that we’re happy to see that the mouse is still in tact, even if there are plenty of touch options in there to make any future lover happy.

As we’ve seen, the Arch Touch is a mouse that lays flat more often than not. But, it’s when you fold it upward, and it snaps into place to enact that curved design, that it powers up. But, as we’re sure you’re wondering, where does the “touch” aspect come into play, because there are two mouse buttons present on this mouse. That would be between those buttons, which comes in the form of a strip, as well as sensor areas around that capacitive touch strip. You can use it to scroll down, as well as customize those sensors to do what you want. The mouse will also feature BlueTrack laser, to make sure it stays right on track, as well as use a small USB receiver to skip over the whole Bluetooth entirely. Battery life is estimated at six months, with the AAA batteries tucked inside.

The mouse will indeed cost $69.95 when it comes to the market later this year. But, if you feel like you need to pre-order it, you can do that later today, at Best Buy, Buy.com, and Amazon. You should see it hit the mail and head towards your mail box at the beginning of December. If you can wait for it to hit store shelves, Microsoft says that will be some time in January. So, who’s getting one?

Considering some of you out there are probably heading back to school around this time (or if you’re already there), you might be looking for a new electronic toy to buy. And hey, if you can write it off as a school-related purchase, why not, right? That’s what Genius is hoping to rope you in with, as they’ve just announced their new Navigator 905BT wireless mouse, featuring Bluetooth technology inside.

The wireless mouse is capable of connecting (without wires!) to any PC or Mac, and Genius says it’s instantly, so that’s pretty impressive. If you do decide to connect to your computer courtesy of the Bluetooth EDR 2.0 technology, then you’ll be happy to know you can go up to 10m from your PC or Mac and still have a functioning device. And, if you don’t happen to have any Bluetooth connectivity on your PC or Mac, then you can plug in the Stick-N-Go mount to your USB port, and still utilize that wireless goodness.

Interestingly enough, because when we think mouse peripherals, we also think anti-virus software, Genius is including a 60-day free trial of Norton Symantec anti-virus software, which will come on a CD. You have two color choices: ruby red or cold silver, and it will retail for $32.99. Check out the full press release below for all the extra juicy details.
