Most people are familiar with repetitive stress injuries, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, that can develop over time if you do the same motions with your hands or other body parts repeatedly. Carpal tunnel syndrome can be very painful and can significantly affect your performance at work or at home. If you suffer from carpal tunnel or want to reduce the chances that you will suffer from the condition, there are some computer peripheral options out there that will help.

One of the biggest causes of repetitive motion injuries for computer users is the mouse. Moving your wrist back and forth for hours each day, day in day out can cause pain for many people. One way to treat this problem is with an ergonomic mouse that helps reduce those repetitive stresses. One of the more unique mice available out there promising ergonomics is from a company called Penclic.

Penclic has announced a new ergonomic mouse called the Bluetooth B2 Mouse. It looks rather like someone stabbed a pen into the top of a small mouse designed for portability. The mouse base has a little scroll wheel and the pen has multiple buttons. This particular mouse from Penclic eliminates the need to use a wire or take up a USB port with a wireless adapter by supporting Bluetooth.

If your notebook or desktop computer has integrated Bluetooth, you don’t need anything else to pair this mouse to your computer. The mouse will work with both Mac and Windows machines. The pen-style is designed to provide users with an intuitive user experience and the mouse is designed to work without a mouse pad.

The mouse feels and acts like a pen in your hand and uses a laser sensor to move the cursor with accuracy over most surfaces. The mouse has a total of five buttons and an integrated scroll wheel. The mouse is powered by an internal rechargeable battery good for up to two months of use on a single charge. The wireless range is up to 10 m and the mouse comes in white only. You can purchase the B2 Bluetooth Mouse now.

When it comes to computer gaming one of the most important peripherals for the gamer is the mouse. A mouse with too much or too little sensitivity can be very difficult to use during intense gaming sessions. Thankfully, there are a huge variety of gaming mice on the market today allowing the PC gamer to choose the mouse perfectly suited their needs. Another new mouse is set to launch from Gigabyte called the Aivia Uranium.

The mouse promises a battery life of up to 70 hours on a pair of AA batteries. These aren’t old-fashioned throwaway AA batteries, though presumably you could use those throwaway batteries in a pinch. This mouse uses a pair of rechargeable AA batteries that are charged by plugging the mouse into the included Ghost Macro Station that doubles as the wireless receiver.

That Ghost Macro Station also has a very interesting OLED monochrome screen integrated into the front. That screen gives the gamer details such as how the battery charging is going, the DPI setting for the mouse, and the current wireless frequency. The screen can also be used for customizing macros on the mouse.

One of the most important aspects of any gaming mouse is the sensitivity. That’s where things get a bit murky, so far we don’t know the exact sensitivity but odds are we’re looking at 5600 at least dpi. The mouse is also expected to feature 10 programmable buttons and multiple onboard profiles. The LED lighting system the mouse will also be color adjustable. The mouse is expected to launch in June with pricing unannounced. I’d wager we’re looking at over $100.

When it comes to controlling a computer from across the room, such as your home theater PC, finding a place to use a traditional mouse can be a challenge. The problem with using a mouse from the couch is that you often end up having to lean forward and use it on the coffee table or the curved arm of your couch, which doesn’t always work well. Genius previously offered the original Ring Mouse and the company has announced an updated version.

The new version is called the Ring Mouse 2 and Genius says it’s a cutting-edge ring style touch air mouse. The mouse is designed to be worn on the finger and can be used by business travelers, HTPC users and more. The ring section of the mouse is made from a flexible rubber material allowing it to attach securely to your finger during use.

The Ring Mouse 2 is also easy to remove and compact enough to fit in a pocket and have it ready to go whenever you need it. The mouse uses touch control technology on top allowing you to slide your finger on the touch panel allowing you to navigate web pages and documents. Cursor controls is done using the in-air mouse functionality.

The Ring Mouse 2 has left, middle, and right buttons and also supports the ability to drag and four-way scroll. Power for the mouse comes from an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Connectivity between the mouse and the computer is supported via a small nano adapter using 2.4 GHz technology. Wireless range is up to 10 m. The mouse comes in silver or titanium colors. Pricing and availability are unknown at this time.

According to a leaked build of the next-generation update to Windows 8 going by code-name “Windows Blue”, you’ll soon be able to sync not only some of your account information from computer to computer with your Microsoft account. What Within Windows describes here is a laundry list of elements you’ll be factoring in to your Microsoft account associations – everything from Bluetooth device recognition to Installed Apps. Soon you’ll be able to bring your account with you wherever you go, on whatever PC you happen to be logging in on!

With the rise of Cloud Computing we’ve seen more than a few businesses build their greatness on the idea that you should be able to access all of your digital bits and pieces from wherever you may be. With Windows Blue, you’ll be finding that not only your digital media and download approvals will be going with you, you’ll also have the ability to move from one PC to the next with your wireless accessories, too.

• Device Associations (including Bluetooth)
• Internet Explorer Tabs and Tracking Protection
• Picture Password
• File History
• Input Personalization
• Explorer Quick Links
• App Secondary Tiles
• Tethering
• Installed Apps

So say you’ve got a Bluetooth mouse that you love so very much, but you’re often switching from your home computer to your work computer, and your work computer is one that other people often use with their own login. With Windows Blue (the next big update for Windows 8), you’ll find that once you’ve logged in with your Microsoft account, you’ll be able to see your Bluetooth mouse right away – provided you’ve brought it with you.

Also revealed this week was the fact that Windows Blue will have your Microsoft account bringing your Start Screen panels in the same configuration you left them, again no matter what PC your working with. Sound like the cloud is bringing you with it yet?

Are you convinced by Windows Blue yet? Perhaps you’d like more information on this upcoming Windows 8 build? Have a peek at the timeline below for more details!

When we think of Asus, typically we think of tablets and notebook computers. The company also makes a line of video cards and other computer hardware as well as gaming peripherals under its Republic of Gamers product line. Asus has announced a new aluminum cover gaming mouse called the Eagle Eye GX1000.

The mouse has adjustable sensitivity covering a range from 50 dpi up to 8200 dpi resolution. The mouse also has integrated LED lighting and ships with software allowing the user to customize the features of the mouse to meet their needs. The mouse is attractive and features brushed aluminum on the top rather than standard plastic, which is typically seen with most gaming mice.

That aluminum on top should mean the mouse stays attractive for longer. The mouse weighs 150 g on its own and users who want more weight can use the built-in weight adjustment system. Using the system and the five available 5 g weights users can customize the feel of the mouse. The GX1000 has a scroll wheel with LED illumination built-in and uses large ultra low friction mouse feet.

The cable for the mouse is braided for longevity and the mouse can be programmed with macros. The mouse supports six programmable macros and has three different function states. The mouse will sell for around $100 when it launches.

If you have ever had to purchase a new mouse, you probably noticed that there are hordes of different models available on the market today. There is a mouse for every hand and every need. Honestly, most of those mice are pretty much the same the side of brand name and color.

A company called IRIS has unveiled a new mouse that is significantly different from most mice on the market called the IRIScan. The mouse works like a normal pointing device allowing you to control your cursor on the screen of your computer. It also has a built-in scanner on the bottom allowing you to scan documents and images as you move around the page.

The mouse works in conjunction with optical character recognition software and if you use it to scan a document that content is turned into an editable document in Microsoft, Excel, or another program. The mouse has a scanning resolution of 400 dpi. The scanner is activated when the user clicks on the scan button and swaps the mouse in any direction on the paper document.

As the mouse is swiped around the page, the document text and images appear instantaneously on the computer screen. The software running on the computer stitches the image back together so you don’t have to swipe in a uniform manner. The scanned documents can be saved, e-mailed, or uploaded to the web. The mouse connects to a computer using USB and is available now for $79.

According to a recent study, one mouse click burns approximately 1.42 calories.

Sitting at your desk all day surfing the internet with a pile of unfinished TPS reports sitting in front of you probably isn’t a good sign, and even worse, you’re probably not doing yourself a favor and getting enough exercise, or aren’t you? According to a recent study, one mouse click burns approximately 1.42 calories.

An article title “Convert Anything to Calories,” which was published recently in PHP Science World, calculated the number of calories burned when clicking a mouse, and it’s said that the number is 1.42 calories burned per mouse click. The authors ended up calculating the “total volume of the muscles used to bend the index finger,” which is “10.8 cubic centimeters with a total weight of 11.7 grams.”

The authors note, however, that the calories burned per mouse click may vary, since the calculation used “assumes the muscle contracted completely, so the actual amount of calories used is a little less.” Either way, you can easily burn off that Burger King Whopper with just 450,000 mouse clicks, or a Big Mac with only 387,000 mouse clicks, since a calorie is more commonly referred to as a kilocalorie, or 1,000 calories.

The average male should burn around 2,000 calories per day, with the average female burning approximately 1,700 calories per day. Obviously with a strict exercise regiment, you would be able to burn even more, and while getting exercise purely through mouse clicks probably isn’t ideal, at least you know that you’re burning calories while making your way through your Facebook News Feed.

When it comes to computer input devices, there are a huge number of mice and keyboards out there. The sheer variety of computer mice available is incredible and one mouse may not do everything a computer user wants it to. Some people need a mouse for the office, a mouse for on the go, a mouse to use from across the room, and a mouse to use on the couch.

A new mouse is on Kickstarter called the Ego! Smartmouse and it looks like a single mouse that can do just about anything you might want a mouse to accomplish. You can use this mouse on the surface of your desk like you would any other mouse for controlling your computer pointer. You can also pick the mouse up, walk across the room, plop down on the couch and use the Ego! Smartmouse in the air like a 3-D pointing device to control multiple computers and devices.

The little mouse can even be used as a portable game controller for gaming from across the room. The mouse runs the Linux operating system and has an internal 400 MHz ARM-9 microcontroller. The mouse also has up to 4 GB of integrated memory along with a number of sensors including an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and an optical mouse sensor.

Wireless connectivity for the mouse is handled by an integrated Bluetooth chip. Other hardware features for the mouse include a VGA resolution camera, touch surface, a vibration motor, and LEDs. The mouse uses a lithium polymer rechargeable battery that gets power via a micro-USB port. I told you this mouse could do just about everything. Check out the video below to get a better idea of everything you can accomplish with the Ego! Smartmouse. The Kickstarter project is seeking £20,000 and has so far raised £14,249 with 36 days to go.

Genius has been making the Pen Mouse for a while now. This mouse looks like a fountain pen. The company has announced a new updated version of the mouse under the official name the Wireless Comfortable Pen Mouse.

The new version of the mouse features 2.4 GHz wireless technology and a 1200 dpi optical sensor. The mouse ships with a wireless pico receiver that is small enough to allow you to plug the receiver into the USB port of your computer and leave it. The mouse will work on just about any Windows computer and features three buttons.

The mouse supports hyperspeed scrolling, 4D scrolling, works in both hands, and has a touch scroll feature. Sensitivity of the mouse is also adjustable to both 400 and 800 dpi. The mouse sensor is designed to work on just about any surface. Genius says that the mouse will work on clothing, your hand, desktop, and just about anywhere else.

The mouse features a smart power saving function that automatically starts the sleep mode when the mouse isn’t in use. The user can press any key to wake the mouse up. The mouse is available in carbon gray or silver for $49.99.

Logitech has outed a new keyboard, the UC Solution for Cisco 725-C, complete with dedicated VoIP controls and a caller ID display. The new ‘board – which Logitech says pairs up neatly with its C920-C webcam and M525-C wireless mouse – is designed specifically to work with Cisco’s Jabber service, allowing users to throw out their desk phone and instead handle incoming and outgoing calls, voicemails, and more from their PC peripherals.

Dedicated buttons for answering/ending calls as well as muting are present, with illumination so that you can be alerted to an incoming call even if you have the volume shut off. The voicemail button also lights up when there are new messages.

As for the other companion peripherals, the M525-C mouse comes with one of Logitech’s Unifying receiver dongles, which can plug directly into the K725-C keyboard, and has a scroll wheel and rubberized grips. The C920-C webcam can handle up to 1080p video at 30fps, and includes stereo microphones and onboard H.264 encoding for reducing computer processor strain.

Obviously you’ll need a Jabber system in order for the bundle to be any use to you, but we can envisage Logitech developing another version of the keyboard targeting home users instead, perhaps with Skype controls instead. As for the K725-C, that’ll land in March 2013 priced at $269.99, complete with both webcam and mouse, while the C920-C webcam will also be sold separately at $109.99.

How many buttons do you have on your mouse? Two? Three? No wonder your friends laugh at you: Genius knows that, for any PC person to be taken seriously, they need a full twelve buttons on their mouse. The new Genius Gila Professional Gaming Mouse not only looks the part, thanks to metallic-finish inserts and LED lighting, but promises more customization potential than ever before.

That’s in both software and hardware, somewhat unusually. Each of the twelve buttons can be set to the function of your choosing, or assigned to one of up to 72 macros; they’re stored in the mouse’s own, onboard storage, rather than on your PC, so that in-game macro blocks won’t be able to prevent them from running, and meaning no setup time if you change system.

Five levels of precision – from 200dpi to 8200dpi – are supported, and the setting can be changed mid-game. Meanwhile, unlike a regular mouse (either computer or live), you can open up a panel on the base of the Gila and slot in up to six of the supplied weights, each 4.5g, to adjust the heft of the peripheral to suit your preferences.

As for the lighting, that can be tweaked from ubiquitous-but-perhaps-a-bit-2000s-now blue to any of 16m different colors, complete with selectable brightness and pulsation. A double-braided cable and gold-plated jack round out the key specs.

The Genius GX Gaming Series Gila mouse is on sale now, priced at $99.99.

A couple of days ago, Mad Catz teased their new GameSmart lineup of peripherals that focus on mobile gaming. We knew very little of these devices until today. At CES, the company showed up the new hardware, and we ended up getting some hands-on time with the new R.A.T.M and the M.O.U.S.9 gaming mice, the former which is the company’s smaller mobile version, and the latter being the bigger brother of sorts.

The R.A.T.M is surprising small, and while it may not fit comfortably in the hands of the larger folks, you’ll be certain that the mouse will fit perfectly in your traveling bag. The R.A.T.M is the first mouse to combine Bluetooth 4.0 with a gaming laser sensor, and a battery life that should last you for over a year.

The R.A.T.M is compatible with both Windows PCs and Macs, as well as a slew of smart TVs and tablets. The mouse also comes with a “Nano Dongle USB receiver” that clicks in snugly on the bottom of the mouse for increased portability. Lastly, there’s 12 action buttons (10 of which are programmable), and a 6400 DPI twin-eye laser sensor.

The bigger M.O.U.S.9 looks very similar to its smaller brother, but as aforementioned, it’s slightly larger than the R.A.T.M. It features the same Bluetooth 4.0 technology as well as the gaming-grade laser sensor. Just like the R.A.T.M, the mouse has a one-year battery life and is compatible with a range of products, including PCs, Macs, smart TVs, and tablets.

Razer has updated its Orochi gaming mouse with a new, more powerful sensor that provides better accuracy, as well as offering about double the battery life of its predecessor. You can grab the device now for the gamer on your gift list and get it in time for Christmas. The device is priced at $69.99 for those in the US, and €69.99 for those on the other side of the pond.

The Orochi can be connected two ways: wirelessly via Bluetooth 3.0, or wired for those who need a slightly more archaic connection method. The device runs a new, more precise laser, which Razer touts as the most powerful laser available in a mobile mouse. The laser sensor is a 6,400dpi 4G unit that “promises to take out the competition with deadly accuracy.”

For those who choose to use the Orochia via a Bluetooth connection, the unit is powered by two AA batteries. You can expect to get about 30 hours of continuous use, which is double the life of the previous iteration. The battery rating equals about three months of conventional usage, according to the press release.

RazerGuy Robert Krakoff offered this statement. “We want our dedicated fans to keep the ability to game at the high level they demand when they leave their home. Companies including Razer make mobile gaming laptops for that and, with those, there needs to be a mobile mouse solution. The Razer Orochi answers that need. We believe we’ve ushered in a new era of mobile gaming with the extreme performance and portability of our Blade laptop and Orochi gaming mouse.”

Razer has always been a maker of premiere gaming peripherals, especially their mice. One of the biggest features of their gaming mice are the high dpi ratings (dots per inch) of the sensors. Most of their mice have over 3000dpi sensors, but their newest DeathAdder mouse has a whopping 6400dpi, making it the most precise mouse on the planet.

Razer is simply calling the new mouse the “DeathAdder 2013,” and it packs in a 6400dpi optical sensor, compared to the 3500dpi infrared sensor of its predecessor. It’s just in time for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and we can’t help but think that dedicated gamers who are wanting the slightest edge over their competition will want this new mouse.

Then again, we could only see the 6400dpi being useful for those intense gamers who might be able to tell the difference when gaming, but for everyday users, the DeathAdder 2013 (as well as pretty much any Razer product), might be a bit overkill for your purposes. The black and lime green color scheme is pretty cool, though.

However, the new DeathAdder 2013 costs $70, which is only $10 more than its predecessor, which means that if you’re in the market for a new Razer DeathAdder, you’d be stupid not to go for the extra dpi for only $10 more. Any way you look at it, 6400dpi is a lot of dots, and we’re really curious to see how much more accurate it is over inferior sensors.

Logitech has outed a new trio of peripherals for Windows 8, including a twinset of finger-friendly mice and a standalone touchpad. The Logitech Touch Mouse T620 and Zone Touch Mouse T400 each include stroke-sensitive surfaces for easier navigating around your Windows 8 PC, while the Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650 has a glass top plate for you to flick the new Microsoft gestures around.

The Touch Mouse T620 has a full touch surface, including around the edges of the peripheral, with laser tracking. It has a dedicated shortcut to the Windows 8 start screen, and uses Logitech’s Unifying Receiver; battery life is up to six months with two AA batteries, or you can ditch one of the batteries for a lighter mouse, and get up to three months runtime.

As for the Zone Touch Mouse T400, as the name implies the touch-responsiveness is limited to certain portions of the peripheral. In fact, the zone is limited to where the scroll-wheel might normally be expected to find, with a rubberized, textured surface. The same Unifying Receiver is used, and battery life is up to 18 months.

Like Apple’s Magic Trackpad of 2010, Logitech’s Touchpad T650 pulls the touch-sensitive square normally found in a laptop’s wrist rest out onto the desktop as a standalone peripheral. It supports thirteen Windows 8 gestures, and can be recharged via USB; a full charge is good for up to a month’s use.

The Logitech Touch Mouse T620 and Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 are up for preorder now, priced at $69.99 and $49.99 respectively. The Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650 is priced at $79.99.

There seems to be no shortage of odd gadgets and computer peripherals that come out of Japan. We have seen a number of peripherals over the years that you can plug into USB ports to keep you warm or cool. A new computer accessory has surfaced from Japan called the Massage Mouse from a company called Art Factory.

The mouse does exactly what its name implies; it vibrates to massage your hand or your body when you need a break from working. The mouse promises a comfortable and stylish design that appears to be ambidextrous. The mouse has a touch-sensitive surface for buttons and scrolling. It also has integrated LED lights along the edge of the mouse to make it look like it’s glowing.

The mouse itself is wireless and ships with a charging stand that connects to your computer via USB. The mouse has three different massage modes indicated by buttons on the side for A, B, C. There are 10 different vibration levels that can be accessed with button A. Button B allows the user to choose continuous vibration or pulsating vibration patterns.

Button C reduces the vibration level and when the vibration stops the mouse automatically goes back into mouse mode. It also goes back into the mouse mode within 30 seconds of massage mode being activated if the mouse isn’t picked up and used. The mouse uses optical tracking technology and will be on display at CES in January of 2013. Pricing and availability are unannounced.

Genius has pulled the covers off a new 2.4 GHz wireless laser mouse that is aimed at mobile users. The new mouse is called the Traveler 9010LS. One thing about using a mouse when you travel is that often you don’t have a mouse pad available leaving you forced to simply place the mouse on the surface next to your computer.

Genius says that this new mouse will work on just about any surface, including glass. Glass is one surfaced that typically will not work for a laser mouse. The mouse has a 1600 dpi laser engine and features a double injection grip for extra comfort.

Lefties will be glad to hear that this is an ambidextrous design suitable for use with either hand. The mouse is also designed to be able to get power from either an AA or AAA battery. The mouse uses the Genius DarkEye technology to allow tracking on clear and shiny surfaces accurately and easily.

The mouse ships with a wireless dongle promising a wireless range of up to 10 m from the computer. The mouse has adjustable sensitivity between three settings of 800/1200/1600 dpi. The little USB receiver can be stored inside the mouse for portability and is small enough to be inserted into a computer’s USB port and just left there. The little mouse is available right now for $39.99.

This machine is the most expensive of the all-in-one designs HP is offering up here at the start of the Windows 8 generation of PCs, and with its 23-inch flush glass display and 3rd generation Intel Core processor options, not to mention it’s lovely and sleek looking body, there’s no stopping it. This device will not, on the other hand, be launching with the rest of the October wave of devices – it’s coming in November.

You’ll find that this beast keeps the Spectre brand name hot with NFC technology to tap your devices together and share media wirelessly and utterly simply. You’ve got many of the same features the rest of this newest HP wave of machines have such as Beats Audio for enhanced sound. And HP Connected Remote, Photo, and Music are included as well – HP is presenting an experience here both in hardware and software, with HP technology making a unique experience for you both outside and in.

You’ll get the computer itself along with a wireless multi-touch touchpad and a keyboard inside the box. With what may very well be a giant step forward for how we use PCs in general, <strike>HP has opted out of including a wireless mouse in the package</strike> you’ll be getting when you purchase the HP SpectreONE. The true test is at hand – can we bring the desktop world into the universe our notebook-loving hands have been working with for quite a few years already?

UPDATE: HP informs us that there WILL be a mouse in the package now. Good for you traditionalists!

HP might be taking a gamble here – even if it is a tiny one. If you want a mouse, you can buy one for next to nothing, after all – even a wireless mouse doesn’t cost a pretty penny if you know where to look. However, it’s the thought that counts. HP has thrown the mouse out the window here, and with it goes the last component that did not look flat. Now with the HP SpectreONE, HP can present a package that is, indeed, working with basically all flat hardware – and you’re going to love it.

This beast will be appearing on November 14th for a starting price of $1,299 USD MSRP – that’s an expected price and release date, of course, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the final word on that. You can start saving up now though, no harm in that! Have a peek at our HP tag portal to see the rest of HP’s new Windows 8 machine offerings from start to finish – great stuff on the horizon!

This week Microsoft has revealed a collection of hardware that’s made specifically for the next generation of software, Windows 8, including several new mice. Three new mouse units are coming your way to Microsoft stores immediately if not soon, the Wedge Touch Mouse, the Sculpt Touch Mouse, and the Microsoft Touch Mouse. The Microsoft Touch Mouse specifically has been out before, but is this summer prepared to be updates for gesture settings with Windows 8.

Microsoft Touch Mouse

This device is the same great unit you’ve loved in the past, here with a selection of new Windows 8 connections: gesture ready to go. You’ve got one-finger swipes for natural side-to-side and up-and-down movements on the screen. Two-finger movements will work for managing apps, showing app commands, and switching through apps as well. Three finger gestures allow for zooming in and out, and thumb gestures navigate backward and forward within apps.

The price for the new generation of Microsoft Touch Mouse is up for sale today for $79.95. You’ll be tracking on virtually any surface with BlueTrack Technology, you’ve got Bluetooth connectivity, and you’ll be rocking and rolling with Windows 8 very soon.

Sculpt Touch Mouse

With the Scupt Touch Mouse you’ll be working fabulously with the Sculpt Mobile Keyboard – have a peek at our outline of the keyboard units revealed today as well. Microsoft has created the Sculpt Touch Mouse is also made for Windows 8, Bluetooth and swipes ready to go. You’ve got a four-way touch scroll strip up top for gesturing up and down, left and right, and navigating through applications and documents as well.

Estimated retail price for the Sculpt Touch Mouse is $49.95 while the Sculpt Mobile Keyboard that goes with it will also ring up the same price.

Wedge Touch Mouse

The Wedge Touch Mouse may very well be the coolest of the mice revealed this week with a compact frame and, again, the ability to work rather well with Windows 8. This mouse works with BlueTrack Technology for use on virtually any surface as well as Bluetooth for wireless connections. This unit has a Backpack Mode that powers it down and puts it to sleep along with the computer that it’s paired to automatically – magic!

And of course it’s got four-way touch scrolling and navigation for Windows 8 as well. This unit will ring you up $69.95 USD while the Wedge Mobile Keyboard – it’s companion – will cost you $79.95.

SteelSeries has announced that it is now shipping a new gaming mouse called the SteelSeries Sensei [RAW]. The mouse comes in two versions including a glossy version and a rubberized version. The two versions of the mouse only differ in the covering on top. Either version of the mouse will sell for $59.99 and is available now.

The SteelSeries Sensei [RAW] differs from the previous SteelSeries Sensei gaming mouse in that the [RAW] version lacks the 32-bit ARM processor that the older Sensei about uses. The new mouse has professional grade laser sensor and an adjustable sensitivity range from 1 to 5700 CPI. The mouse has large DPE material feet on the bottom for smooth gliding action.

It also has a 6.5-foot anti-tangle black and white cord covered in braided nylon. Other features include bright white LED illumination in three zones that can be configured with different levels of pulsation. The mouse is designed to be ambidextrous for right or left-handed gamers.

What do you do when you break a sweat from all that PC gaming? You use a mouse that has an external fan mounted on it, that’s what you do. Thermaltake quite literally wants to blow you away with the new Tt eSports Element Cyclone gaming mouse, which is the first mouse for gamers that has a unique outside fan on it, designed to bring some cool relief to sweaty gamer hands.

Other mouse models have previously come with built-in fans, but the Cyclone Edition is the first to feature an external fan, making it really stand out against the rest. And if your hand gets too cold or the fan becomes a bit of a nuisance at any time, it can be detached from the mouse whenever you want. The fan operates pretty quietly, just at an output of about 21.7 dB.

The 30-millimeter fan operates at up to 6,000 RPM, and because it has to support the fan, it doesn’t work wirelessly. While it sure is unique, the reality is that it may only be super effective at cooling the top of your hand and leaving your palm still pretty sweaty.

No pricing or information on global availability of the Cyclone gaming mouse has been provided by Thermaltake just yet.

This week Microsoft has re-introduced their own creation as a smaller version of itself: Microsoft Surface in the form of a handheld tablet. It was Steve Ballmer himself that came onstage at the start of this event, beginning his talk with a bit of a teaser with “cloud computing and entertainment” and ending up letting us know the big bang right from the start: “and in all that we’ve done, Windows is the heart and soul.” Ballmer let the audience know that Windows in all powers 1 billion computers (and more, we must assume) across the earth, and that “Windows 8 re-imagines the product.”

Ballmer souped up the software and let us know that Windows 8 was about to keep with Microsoft’s core values while expanding their horizons. In starting with talk like “It was always clear that what our software could do would require us to push hardware, sometimes where our partners hadn’t envisioned,” Ballmer perhaps attempted to surprise the audience with the following:

“Our number 1 revenue product when I joined Microsoft was a hardware product. Let’s take a look back at the role of hardware at Microsoft.” – Ballmer

Ballmer showed off everything from the original Microsoft Mouse to the Microsoft Natural Keyboard to the 2007 release of Microsoft Surface, noting “the same thing we did 30 years ago with software, we’re doing with new products.” Ballmer noted the Xbox, went to the Kinect, and came out on the other end with a Microsoft Surface tablet looking like a brand new product like we’ve never seen before.

“People want to work and to play and they want to be on their desk, and on the go. Surface fulfills that dream. Your passions, your creativity, and your enjoyment.” – Ballmer

Stay tuned for more on this next-generation tablet, we’ll have all the details for you soon – check below!

Logitech has outed its latest peripheral, the G600 MMO Gaming Mouse, encrusted with buttons to give massively multiplayer online gamers plenty to keep their fingers busy. The G600 includes a total of twenty buttons, a dozen of which are clustered together into a contoured panel on the side of the mouse, and while Logitech ships them pre-programmed by default, they can be customized to any choice of function or macro.

The three profiles pre-set include two for MMOs and one expected to be used in general gaming. No special drivers are needed, either, and there’s a G-Shift control to double the functionality for each key. The G600 itself has onboard key-memory, so that even if you plug it into another machine it will still have your personal settings.

All of the buttons are LED-backlit, and can be set to a choice of 16m different hues (or left to cycle through them automatically). The 6.5-foot USB cable is cloth-wrapped, which Logitech says makes it more resilient, and it’s possible to change the DPI accuracy on-the-fly with up to five presets per profile.

Finally, the scrollwheel is tiltable and clickable. The Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse is available for preorder now, priced at $79.99.

The folks at HP have brought everything from cupcakes to a lovely white mustache to your hand with the HP X4000 Wireless Laser Mice line. These mice are meant to connect to your computer wirelessly and give you no less than a perfectly comfortable ride while your fingers dance on the secured grip offered on both the left and right sides and back of the device. Along with 1600 dpi precision right here in every single model, you’ll be glad you picked up one of these little beasts here in the Spring of 2012.

These mice work with batteries which you can replace via a panel underneath each of them, and are using an amount of power so low that HP is saying they’ll last you up to 30 months without a charge. Designs here in this line are uni-grip for either the left or the right hand, this eliminating the need to create each different hand model for each different color mouse. If you’re the type that needs perfectly precise grips and are suspicious of dual-hand devices like these, head to your local electronics store and try them out, but here’s our take: they work fabulously no matter which hand you’ve got in play.

The colors and patterns you can choose from here include Heavy Metal, Scrap Metal, CowaBunga, Poppy, Cupcake, Zebra Fade, Color Patch and Stashe, and not a more diverse group of oddities has ever been seen. The whole line starts at $29.99 and will be available starting in May in the USA. Check out our HP portal for the rest of the gigantic drop of devices presented by HP this week!

Thermaltake is back with another product design made in conjunction with BMW Group Designworks USA. The last time we saw a design tie up between these two companies was the Level 10 case that was so cool. The new product is a gaming mouse the goes along with that Level 10 gaming case called the Level 10 M Gaming Mouse.

The new mouse will come in multiple colors, including black, white, and military green. The mouse has a laser sensor engine with 8200 dpi sensitivity and a graphical user interface to allow sensitivity adjustment between 800/1600/3200/5000 settings up to the max 8200 dpi. The mouse has four different lighting effects regions with seven color options each to allow for customization.

The angle and height of the mouse can be adjusted, and it connects to your computer with a USB plug. The mouse is 147 mm long, 67.5 mm wide, and 38.8 mm tall. The mouse also has an open design that allows air to flow through to keep your hands cool. There are open sections on top of the mouse that allow the air to reach your palm. The base of the mouse is made from aluminum, and it has seven buttons with five of them programmable. Pricing and availability are unknown; the mouse went official at CeBIT 2012.

Gaming mice range from the simple to the ridiculous, though they tend to unite on at least one aspect: “expensive”. In the world of gaming hardware, novelty is a constant struggle, and boutique manufacturer SteelSeries has something up their sleeves that certainly qualifies. The company posted two photos to their Twitter account today, showing off what appears to be the tail end of a gaming mouse with an integrated screen of some kind. Thousands of PC gamers’ wallets are already feeling lighter.

Of course, the purpose of a screen on a mouse wouldn’t be to display anything overly rich – for one thing, your palm would cover it most of the time, and for another, these screens (if that’s what they are) seem way too low-resolution to be of any use there. No, I’m betting that they’re a method of visually confirming polling and refresh rates. Most high-end gaming mice allow players to actively change the refresh rate of the optical or laser sensor, making for a tighter or looser control. Previously the only indication of this has been eithersome rudimentery LEDs on the mouse itself or a manager program on the PC, neither of which is an ideal method of checking in the heat of multiplayer online battle.

Here’s an up-close photo of what appears to be the screen:

Whatever SteelSeries has cooking, we won’t have to wait too long to find out: the company claims they’ll be unveiling something new next week, probably at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Will yet another method of input feedback woo famously finicky PC gamers? It all depends on what kind of utility the mouse or mice have, not to mention how much they cost.

I have seen all sorts of weird mice over the years with different rodents aimed at gamers and those that have carpal tunnel. Those mice are usually traditional designs that you hold in your hand and move around on your desktop. I have seen some nice designed for use in the air from across the room aimed at people who give a lot of presentations or need to control a media center PC from across the room.

A new mouse that has surfaced from a company called Ion Wireless may be the strangest I’ve ever seen. The mouse is called the Ion Air Mouse and it uses a glove style with little buttons worn on the finger for the right and left click. Apparently, the mouse does require little bit of set up on your computer by activating the clock in the control panel allowing you to using your wrist.

It appears that the click buttons for left and right, which are worn on the index finger are pressed using the thumb. The mouse also has a pause button underneath the left and right click buttons so if you need to type or get up from your desk you won’t need to take the glove off. The mouse is wireless and rechargeable via a USB port with a range of 35 feet. The mouse sells for $79.99 and is available now.

Logitech has outed its latest wireless peripheral, the Touch Mouse M600, and it’s gagging for you to stroke, tickle and generally caress it. Topped with a touch-sensitive surface suitable for both left and right handed users, the M600 can handle click-taps and swipes for gestures, and supports Logitech’s Flow Scroll software for smoother on-screen navigation.

In fact, Logitech reckons it’s as smooth as the scrolling you’re used to on your smartphone. Connectivity is via the company’s Unifying Receiver, a compact USB dongle that can pair with up to six Logitech wireless peripherals simultaneously.

Interestingly, the Touch Mouse M600 gives a choice of power options. The mouse is usually powered with two regular AA batteries, but users can choose to ditch one of them if they’d prefer a lighter peripheral. With two in place, you can apparently expected up to six months of use; half of that if you only use one.

The Logitech Touch Mouse M600 is available for preorder now, priced at $69.99. It’s expected to go on sale later this month.

The thing I don’t like about cordless mice that you have to charge is that they take so long to get a full charge typically. I always forget to plug them in and end up with no mouse for a long time while it charges back up. I generally like wireless mice that use normal batteries better, but if you run out of batteries, you are in trouble. Genius has a new mouse that is perfect for those that like to be green and not use throwaway batteries, yet want something that charges faster too.

The mouse is called the Genius DX-ECO, and it has no battery inside. The mouse uses a capacitor rather than a throw away battery or a rechargeable inside. The capacitor can charge and be ready to go in only three minutes. Other than the fast charging capacitor, the mouse also rocks 2.4GHz wireless connectivity. It has seven buttons and a 1600 dpi BlueEye engine.

The mouse promises to work on many surfaces including your couch, marble, and even glass that is dusty. The gold capacitor can be recharged up to 100,000 times. If 1600 dpi is too much sensitivity for you, the mouse can also operate at 800 dpi. Lefties won’t like that the mouse is a right hand only design. Pricing is set at $39.99, and the mouse is available now.

Logitech has revealed its latest mouse, the Logitech Cube, and it seems someone in the peripheral company’s design has been left with nothing but a ruler to design it. A palm-sized box doubling as a mouse and a wireless presentation controller, automatically switching between the two when you lift it off the desk, the Cube’s entire top surface is a touch-sensitive scroll pad.

While in presentation mode, clicking the Cube in the regular orientation moves forward a slide. However, flip it upside-down in your hand and click, and it backs up to the previous slide. Logitech also offers a “smoother scrolling” plugin to make on-screen motion more slick.

The internal Li-Ion battery recharges via microUSB, and there’s a handy physical power switch so that you can make sure it’s shut down in your bag. Connectivity is with Logitech’s USB Unifying receiver dongle, and up to six can be paired with the Cube at any one time; range is up to 25m.

We’re still not entirely sure how comfortable this new mouse might be for all-day use, but frequent travelers who can’t quite get to grips with a laptop trackpad could find plenty here to like. The Logitech Cube is up for pre-order now, priced at $69.99.

Genius has unveiled a new product called the Ring Presenter. The device slips onto the finger like a ring and has a control pad on the top that allows the user to control the cursor on the computer as they would with a normal mouse. The ring that wraps around the finger is made from rubber for grip and to fit more people.

The touchpad on the top offers full cursor control with what appears to be a d-pad style layout. It also has left, right, and center mouse buttons. The device has an on-screen display and is intended to be used with one hand while standing up. it also has an integrated laser pointer.

The connectivity between the computer and the mouse is via 2.4GHz wireless and the mouse comes in several colors. You can get green, orange, blue, pink, and mauve along with normal black or silver. Wireless range is 10 meters, and the device is available now at an undisclosed price.

3Dconnexion has been around for a long time making pointing devices that are much different from the typical mouse most of us use. Most of these 3D mice that the company makes are aimed at the professional user that designs things with CAD or CAM software. The latest mouse for the firm has now surfaced and it is called the SpaceMouse Pro.

This mouse has a ton of features that like it ideal for the pro user needing lots of functionality. The SpaceMouse Pro has a full size hand rest that is coated in a soft material. It sports 15 buttons that are programmable. Those programmable buttons can be linked to commands in applications, standard views, and all sorts of other unions. The SpaceMouse Pro also has an on-screen display.

The main feature is the wheel that allows for full 3D navigation with 6-degrees of freedom. The mouse also has keyboard modifier buttons with shift, esc, cntrl, and alt right on the ergonomic mouse surface. The SpaceMouse Pro will only work on Windows computers. You can purchase the SpaceMouse Pro for $299. The SpaceMouse Pro is shaped much like the SpacePilot PRO from 2009.

This week over at Dreamhack Winter in Jonkoping Sweden, the folks at SteelSeries have revealed two lovely black, white, and merigold (or orange, if you prefer) pieces of equipment, one limited edition Fnatic Sensei mouse and one 7H Fnatic limited edition headset. You’ll find first of all that both of these devices have an interestingly unique look to them, then you’ll find that their quality in attacking the gaming world is of course second to none. Inside the headset you’ll find 50mm dynamic driver units and SNDBlock ear cushions for sound isolation. Inside the mouse you’ll find a 32 bit ARM processor for its ExactTech settings and full customization abilities.

The mouse has a light-up Fnatic team logo and contains the ability to be the most customized mouse on the market. For example the logo and the rest of the lighting on the device has three zones of 16.8 million color illumination options. Light it up in green if you’re using it with a computer with an NVIDIA processor, for example. Inside you’ll also find a 32 bit ARM processor for calculations on the mouse itself, you needing no software drivers to do so, no computer needed! Of course you’ll need a computer to do anything with the mouse, but have a peek at this: sensitivity settings that can be changed in increments of one from 1 to 5,700 CPI and an “overclocked” Double CPI that’ll let you bump it all the way up to a massive 11,400 DCPI. This mouse will cost you a cool $99.99 / €99.99 MSRP.

For the products above and below, find out more about how to purchase at SteelSeries.

The headset contains 50 mm dynamic driver units for fabulously detailed and rich sound, fabulous “mood setting music” as they say, and critical 3D positionable sounds and alerts. The padding around your ears is made to block out all ambient noise and the SNDBlock hybrid ear cushions as they’re called are made of both cloth and leather. WHat we’ve got here is sound isolation from the inner leather layer and comfort for your head with the outer cloth layer. You can dismantle the whole set into four pieces for compact transportation and ease in cleaning if that’s something you do with your headsets, and the whole set will cost you right around $139.99 / €114.99 MSRP.

HP has quietly begun shipping its X7000 Wi-Fi Touch Mouse a tad earlier than the expected launch later this week. The X7000 Wi-Fi Touch Mouse connects to your computer or laptop via its built-in Wi-Fi receiver and doesn’t require a wireless router. This way the Wi-Fi-enabled mouse also doesn’t take up one of your USB ports with a dongle, such as is needed with corded or Bluetooth mice.

The X7000 Wi-Fi Touch Mouse features a sleek black finish and an ergonomic design with a rubber side grip, but appears to be shaped and contoured only for right-hand users. It has a touch-sensitive scroll button instead of a scroll wheel and also sports 6 customizable buttons, including one dedicated Facebook button.

The mouse can work on almost any surface and can be used at a range of up to 30 feet away. It also offers up to 9 months of battery life, which is twice the battery life of Bluetooth alternatives. However, the X7000 Wi-Fi Touch Mouse will only work for PCs running Windows 7. It is available now for $59.99.

The G105 gaming keyboard has green backlighting to help you see the keys in the dark. It also has six “G” keys that the gamers can bind macros and commands to if they want. The keyboard has anti ghosting tech to keep keys from continuing to make the character on screen move around after they are released.

The keyboard supports five key presses at one time and it has a bunch of instant media access keys. The keyboard is available for $79.99. The G9x gaming mouse is available now for $99.99 on pre-order. It has adjustable weight and on the fly sensitivity adjustment, it is good for sensitivity up to 5700dpi down to 200 dpi. The mouse also has onboard memory to recall your game profile no matter what computer you are on.

SteelSeries has announced that its latest gaming peripheral is now shipping to buyers. The peripheral is the Sensei Pro Grade Laser Mouse and it is aimed directly at the avid PC gamer looking for all sorts of features and tweaks specifically to make gaming more fun and the player more accurate. This mouse has an inside sensitivity setting at the high-end thanks to a 32-bit ARM processor inside.

The sensitivity can be cranked all the way up to 11,400 DCPI. The default sensitivity is 5,700 CPI and the double CPI range will take things up to 11,400. I have no idea if a CPI is the same as a DPI as most mice are rated in. That ARM processor inside the mouse is as powerful as the original Pentium processor from 1994. The mouse is for Windows gamers only.

The mouse also has advanced macros to support long macros. SteelSeries again stops short of saying exactly how long the macro can be. The mouse also has a little LCD on the bottom that you can put your own unique image on. The idea is that it looks cool and might prevent theft if your name is on the bottom of the mouse. The mouse also supports 16.8 million different color combinations and has eight buttons total.

This new version adds a rubberized coating for improved grip and durability, a revised button layout for improved remote control operation, and a longer battery life.

Besides these improvements, the Chameleon X-1 looks relatively the same as when we first saw it back in December of last year. It still has the 16 buttons, two analog sticks, and force feedback support. It also maintains a five-stage adjustable 1600dpi optical sensor

The Chameleon X-1 includes a nano transceiver that can be stored in a compartment inside the mouse and it requires one AAA battery to power. It will ship starting October 1, but can be pre-ordered now on Amazon for $59.99. It comes in three colors of red, gray, and purple.
