According to DigiTimes' industry sources, RIM looks to be positioning Motorola's Android-based XOOM tablet as its primary target; previous leaks suggested Motorola was expecting initial shipments of up to 800,000 XOOM units. Motorola is expecting strong sales of its XOOM tablet, and has ordered as many as 800,000 units for Q1 2011 alone, according to the latest supply chain leaks. According to DigiTimes, four color options make up the 700,000 to 800,000 unit orders Motorola has placed, with suppliers expecting total orders this quarter to near one million. Motorola XOOM UK launch confirmed

Verizon is hogging the limelight when it comes to Motorola's XOOM tablet this week, with the 3G/4G-capable slate expected to hit the US network this quarter, but now we also know the 10.1-inch device is headed to Europe too. Motorola DROID XOOM tablet to have optional 4G LTE, go on sale February 14?

Motorola's incoming Android 2.4 Honeycomb tablet is expected to launch as the Motorola DROID XOOM, according to sources, though it will not come with Verizon 4G connectivity as standard. Droid Life's tipsters confirmed the name and the fact that the Tegra 2 slate won't automatically be able to log onto the new LTE network that so impressed us earlier in the month; however, Android and Me has separately heard that the XOOM will be able to use an optional embedded 4G modem instead.
