Tech groups using celebrities as spokespeople: a quick look
You may have noticed over the past few weeks that celebrities are quickly becoming the spokespeople for technology products, and not only just in the mobile landscape. Smartphones are being promoted by sports stars, reality TV “celebrities” are taking on product launches, and no less than MC Hammer is bringing forth the idea that web search can be much more deep than it currently is. Is this the obvious next step for technology startups as well as established groups across the board? Let me show you three examples of celebrities as spokespeople that’ve popped up over the past couple of weeks in the tech space and you tell ME what you think about it.
Motorola MOTOACTV hands-on
Motorola’s DROID RAZR wasn’t the only new Android device the company announced today; there’s the MOTOACTV packing Google’s platform too. It’s a brave move, launching a smart-watch, given the reception to the existing products that have attempted the market, and we’re not entirely convinced that the MOTOACTV will clinch things for Motorola, either. Motorolo MOTOACTV takes on iPod nano
Motorola has unveiled its own interpretation of the smartwatch PMP, the MOTOACTV, a 1.6-inch touchscreen Android gadget that packs GPS and up to 4,000 of your songs. Intended to track your fitness in a similar way to Nike+, the MOTOACTV is sweat resistant and includes both an FM radio and an integrated audio coach that tells you how fast you’re going and how far you’ve run.
MotoActive Tipped as Athletic Oriented Android Watch for Motorola
Motorola has has one other Android-based device in its potential ranks before, that being the seemingly very similar Tracy XL, this name being in place because it was to be aimed at the lovers of said last name of the original wristwatch-clad Dick Tracy, investigator deluxe. Now we're seeing several watches of a slightly similar build come through - back in December of 2010 we saw the Sony Ericsson LiveView, just this June the first we got to see a glimpse of the Tracy XL in part of its lovely glory, then even so recent as this morning we're privy to some hands-on feels for the WIMM Wearable Platform, again running Android.
