Motorola DROID RAZR

DROID RAZR in white comes tomorrow – can you guess why?

Though it may seem like an exercise in foolish re-reporting to speak on this white version of the DROID RAZR again when we announced it earlier this month, it's availability for tomorrow (the 15th of December) should strike you hard enough to bring about a bit more buzz than this device otherwise would. Since the DROID RAZR was released in its original black/gray form last month (our full review able to be found here), another color for the casing of this device is essentially just a paint job on the same cool sharpness: but besides the OTHER device you're more than likely aware is almost certainly coming to Verizon tomorrow, recognize this: the DROID XYBOARDs are being cross-promoted with this handset as a "one-two punch of media mastery and multitasking might."

DROID Razr torn down with Dozuki saw and video effects

DROID Razr torn down with Dozuki saw and video effects

While Verizon and Motorola assure us that the back of the DROID RAZR by Motorola is not meant to be removed and that the battery is certainly not meant to be replaceable, the folks at iFixit never ever take no for an answer, starting their traditional teardown process with no less than the traditional Japanese saw known as the Dozuki. Of course there was no real need for this since there actually is a fingernail hole at the top of the device and snaps all around the edges that a non-terrifying instrument like your finger could work apart, but the glue between the battery and the back will make for a more difficult take-apart process for you. Then take note of the Kevlar, and be sure to remember that Kevlar in this state is both flexible and definitely not bulletproof - iFixit reminds us that bulletproof Kevlar is actually layers and layers of similar material backed up with a ceramic plate -- in other words, no bullets please!

DROID RAZR ads cut to the chase: what do you want to know?

DROID RAZR ads cut to the chase: what do you want to know?

For the brand new DROID RAZR, Motorola and Verizon's newest hero device, ad spots appear to be continuing the trend of sparing no expense for high theatrics and above average action and adventure stylings. What you're about to see are two ads, one of them showing off how undeniably thin the device is as it cuts through the urban environment, dicing everything it flies directly through. The other, having just been released this week as we come ever so close to the 11.11.11 release date, emphasizes the tagline for the device "Too Powerful to Fall Into the Wrong Hands" and makes it clear that this smartphone is so awesome, only kung-fu Batman James Bond-type character is worthy of stealing it from the set of black-van drivers that possess it (we must assume that these vans represent either Verizon or Motorola, not sure which.)

Motorola DROID RAZR Review

Motorola DROID RAZR Review

Motorola's DROID RAZR has a lot to live up to - and a clear warning around how to drop the ball in mobile strategy. Named after the slimline clamshell handset that changed Motorola's fortunes in 2004, this new dual-core Android promises to be the world's thinnest smartphone with power and performance to match. Thing is, Motorola quickly milked the original RAZR to death, pushing out special edition variant after variant while the market left its underwhelming specifications behind. Is this new DROID worthy of the RAZR name? Read on for the full SlashGear review.

Motorola offers both Ice Cream Sandwich updates and Bootloader Unlockability

Believe it or not, all you lovers of both hacking of Androids and updating of Androids, Motorola has today offered clarification of its future with unlockable bootloaders and updates for its products to no less than Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It is Motorola itself that today speaks to the world saying that "without a doubt" the two "hottest topics in [their] world right now" are Ice Cream Sandwich and bootloaders. Imagine that! Having just spoken with Sanjay Jha this past week, I can tell you firsthand that it wasn't the first (and it certainly wasn't the last) time he'd spoken with someone about Motorola's bootloaders and their unlockability as a hot topic.
