T-Mobile HTC HD2 price leaks, plus CLIQ XT and Nokia Nuron details

While we’ve pretty much known that T-Mobile plan to launch the HTC HD2 in the US sometime this month, what we haven’t been aware of is what sort of pricing we should expect. Thanks to a nifty leak from Tmonews, however, we now know figures for not only the HD2 but the CLIQ XT and the Nokia Nuron (aka the ExpressMusic 5230). Best news? The HD2 isn’t as expensive as we feared it might be.

Motorola DEXT and Milestone getting Android 2.1 too

Having seen their US arm confirm that the Motorola CLIQ, DROID and Backflip would see Android 2.1 firmware updates at some point, Motorola Europe have announced that the DEXT and the Milestone would get similarly updated too. The news was posted to the company's Facebook page, and also confirmed that the Milestone will be getting an intermediate update too.

Motorola Backflip official; CLIQ getting Android 2.1; DROID getting Flash 10.1

SlashGear is at Motorola’s press conference at CES 2010 today, and the company has just announced the Motorola Backflip. While they’re not mentioning carrier partnerships today, it’s worth noting that the Backflip image shown now is the same as AT&T showed earlier today. Meanwhile Moto also confirmed that the CLIQ (aka the Motorola DEXT) will be upgraded from Android 1.5 to 2.1, and that Adobe Flash 10.1 will be pushed out to the DROID in future releases.

Social networking and the mobile context

There’s a growing call to deliver desktop experiences on mobile devices, and in general that’s a good thing. I don’t want to be limited to cut-down, plain-text “mobile” versions of websites when I have a large smartphone display and speedy 3G connection that could readily handle the full version, and the push for full-HTML browsers (and things like Flash support) has already trickled down from a must-have on smartphones to a common feature-phone element. What’s lagging behind, it seems, is an understanding of how mobile device use differs from desktop use, and nowhere is that more evident than in social networking integration. Several devices promise to bring your online social life to the screen that’s always with you, but the experience is patchy at best.

Motorola surprise with Q3 financial report

We’ve been waiting for Motorola’s Android range to go on sale to turn around the company’s ailing fortunes, but it turns out just the promise of Android models seems to have done the trick. The company have announced their Q3 2009 financial figures, and they’ve surprised investors and analysts alike with news of net income amounting to $12m; that might not sound like much, but it’s a significant turnaround compared to the $397m loss in the same period twelve months ago.

Motorola CLIQ with MOTOBLUR now available on T-Mobile

If you are a T-Mobile customer and you have been waiting to get your hands on the slick Motorola CLIQ with MOTOBLUR today is the day. The device is now available on the T-Mobile network. The rest of us not on T-Mobile will have to wait until November 2 to get the CLIQ in our grubby little mitts.
