AOC have announced a super-skinny new LCD monitor, the V17, which measures less than 12mm in depth.  Based around a 17-inch panel, the V17 runs at 1,440 x 900 with a contrast ratio of 5,000:1 and 10ms response time.  Despite the compact dimensions, it also manages to include a VGA webcam in the bezel.

NEC has unveiled its second EA series of MultiSync desktop monitor with EA221WM, a 22-inch premium enterprise display built with top-performing panel technology at $390 retail price. The ENERGY STAR(R) compliant monitor has a native resolution of 1680×1050 with LCD panel capable to produce 250 cd/m(2) brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio at 5ms pixel response time.

Attempting to demonstrate a new, ultra-fast refresh 120Hz LCD monitor with a still image is tricky, so ViewSonic have done the next best thing a slapped a big dragon on there instead.  The VX2265wm is a 22-inch prototype with Professional Color Certification, 1680 x 1050 resolution, 300 nits of brightness and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio; it also boasts a 3ms gray-to-gray response time.

Aside from the new mobile workstations, HP has also announced two ENERGY STAR compliant widescreen displays for workstation users.  The LP2475w is 1,920 x 1,200 resolution and has a 102 percent color gamut, while the LP2275w is 1,680 x 1,050 resolution with a 92 percent color range.

Samsung’s two new ‘Touch of Color’ LCD monitors, the T260HD and T240HD, which began shipping last month promised the best of both worlds: hook up to your PC or Mac for work, enjoy the ATSC / ClearQAM tuner and dual HDMI ports for play.  However users are reporting that the displays’ HDMI ports are not HDCP compatible, leading to problems playing Blu-ray content.  [Updated with Samsung's response - the monitors are HDCP compatible - after the cut]

AOC seem to be on a roll with fresh displays, with a further three new models arriving today.  Most interesting, perhaps, is the 2230Fm HD3 display, which combines a 22-inch 1080p LCD with a built-in media player. Plug a memory card or USB stick into either the USB port or 4-in-1 card reader, and you can access any photos or video stored on it through the HD3 menu system.
