We love this time of the year taking stock of newest and greatest displays get ready for CES 2009. LG for instance, has unveiled ultra high contrast with million-value rating Trumotion 480Hz panel and a 24-inch monitor for CES 2009, here’s another with two million to one contrast ratio LCD with World’s thinnest title to boost.

Few details slipped though a German site this morning revealed another ultra high contrast monitor, with a million to 1 dynamic contrast ratio, on its way to CES 2009 in a short couple weeks. This time, LG will be presenting the W2486L LED BLU 24-inch LCD monitor with a LED backlit technology.

LG has announced a prototype of a LCD panel that is illuminated by sunlight instead of the backlight unit when used in outdoors. Built for the use of notebook, the 14.1-inch sunlight-illuminated LCD can reduce power consumption by 75% with the new reflective mode; with a flip of switch, the multi-functional screen can toggle to the much-conventional transmissive mode as well, offers backlight support like the most of the laptops and cellphones for indoor-use.

Steampunk Monitor mod

We’ve seen Steampunk monitors before, but I’m a sucker for misappropriated piping and so here’s another, this time courtesy of Australia-based Mad Uncle Cliff.  Based around an LCD panel, the mod uses copper piping, a spray pump to hold the controls and a pair of endearingly-alien speaker horns.

Iiyama Japan just added a pair of 16:9 LCDs monitors to their new line up. Available in both white and black color, the Prolite series Iiyama features a TN panel full HD 1920×1080 resolution with constricted viewing angles of 160/170, on both 22-inch and 24-inch models.

Another batch of 16:9 LCD-panel monitors reveled today. Asus has announced a family of four monitors ranged from 18-5” to 23.6-inch with increasingly popular 16:9 widescreen panel that maximizing production efficiency, but crop out chuck of resolution compare to a 16:10 panel. All four piano-black models are capable of boasting 300 cd/ms2 luminance brightness, and are designed to deliver deep black movies playback and ultimate gaming experiences thanks to its aggressive dynamic contrast feature and ultra fast panel response rate.

princeton PTFBGF 19W monitorPrinceton technology announced today an entry level LCD monitor to its current line up. The PTFBGF-19W adopts the increasingly popular 16:9 aspect ratio widescreen panel, measures in at 18.5-inch and can support a 1366 x 768 resolution. Deficit in resolution but the TN panel boasts a Dynamic Contrast of 5000:1, with brightness up to 300 cd/m2 and has a fast response rate of 5ms.

This monitor is as basic as it gets, there are no built-in USB ports and the screen is not adjustable. Connectivity is limited to a DVI port that is HDCP-enabled, and a VGA input. The viewing angles, as expected, are rather constricted at 160/170 degrees, which is quite typical for all 16:9 panel we’ve seen.

The affordable PTFBGF-19W is expected to be launched in mid December with an estimated price tag of 14,800 yen ($162).

Dell just added a new LCD monitor to their current line up. This one is called the UltraSharp 1909W and it offers all the features to suit most people’s viewing preferences. And the best part, is its available now, just in time for the holidays.
