Apple has discontinued its 20-inch Cinema Display, informing distributors that, effective immediately, “all backlog will be cancelled and there is no automatic order conversion.”  Listings of the monitor have already been removed from Apple’s own online store, and stock at third-party suppliers is already very low; the company is believed to have halted production of the 20-inch display late in 2008.

While many people are still struggling to find the desk space (and money) for a dual-monitor setup, according to Fujitsu and the Fraunhofer IAO laboratory we should actually be squeezing three displays into our workspace if we want real performance improvements.  Compared to users completing tasks on a single 19-inch LCD, those with three such screens linked together saw a 35.5-percent jump in efficiency.

Princeton has today announced a 22-inch LCD, PTFBGF-22RW, to join its basic monitor line-up in Japan. Nothing ground-breaking, just another environmental friendly 16:9 Full HD panel with entry-level spec, but more pixels resolution than its 19-inch sibling.

Taiwanese based Lancer Link Corporation has announced an USB monitor expander device with features similar to bus-powered DisplayLink, but supports HDMI video output and up to 7.1 channels of audio.

Mitsubishi has announced a wide color gamut 26-inch (25.5-inch) H-IPS LCD panel, RDT262WH, in Japan. Its specification, including the of claim of 97% Adobe RGB color range are closely resembling the new NEC 26-inch MultiSync LCD2690WUXi2 we reported early.

dell 2209waWith recent releases like S2209W, S2309W and SP2309W, We lost faith at some point if all DELL Ultrasharp has gone with cheaper TN film panel fabrication, boosting ridiculous dynamic contrast and fast panel response rate for the expense of color accuracy. Not so, apparently, there’s love left from IPS advocate in Dell marketing.

Dell has released UltraSharp 2209WA, a 22-inch widescreen format 16:10 LCD with 1680 x 1050 resolution. For the record, we’ve not seen any 16:9 LCDs to date equipped a with better panel type rather than the TN film technology.

The manufacturer has quietly announced new G series monitors on their global site, dished out a sum of 10 LCDs, ranged from 15.5-inch to 24-inch with a variety of resolutions to choose from.

The G Series offers five 720p (20” G2020HD/HDA, 18.5” G920HD/HDA, and 15.6” G610HDA) and five 1080p (24” G2411HD/HDA, 23.6” G2410HD, or 21.5” G2220HD/HAD)
models. All models come standard with an exclusive image enhancement engine, Senseye+photo feature, and optimized preset modes to display Standard, Dynamic, Photo and Movie pictures. Dynamic contrast rating boasts from 10,000:1 to 40,000:1 with ultra fast panel response rate from 2ms (GTG) to 5ms.

Westinghouse Digital unveiled full a range of LCD TVs and monitor displays at CES last week, ranging from 60 to 120Hz Full HDTVs, to WXGA and WUXGA resolution LCD monitors. These, together with a number of digital signage displays and Westinghouse Digital’s proprietary custom ad-builder applications, were hosted inside the private showroom at the Sterling Club, behind the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, and SlashGear was invited along to take a look.

Eizo have announced two new 22-inch monitors, each covering 95-percent of the Adobe RGB color space and 92-percent of the NTSC space.  The FlexScan S2232W-E, which runs at 1680 x 1050, and the FlexScan S2242W-H, which runs at 1920 x 1200, are tipped as ideal for graphics professionals; each can accept either VGA or HDCP-compliant DVI input, and they both support 10-bit hardware LUT.
