Imagination debuts first PowerVR Series 6 GPU cores

Imagination Technologies has announced its PowerVR G6200 and G6400 CPU IP cores, which are the first in its PowerVR Series6 GPU core family. Samsung to overtake Nokia in 2012 mobile phone shipments

Samsung has already beat Nokia in terms of revenue, but now the South Korean company believes it will overtake the Finnish group in total shipments as well. Speaking to reporters in Las Vegas, Samsung CEO Choi Gee Sung revealed that the company had surpassed Nokia in revenue in the latest reported quarter and is confident it will be able to top Nokia in shipments, becoming the world's largest cellphone maker in 2012. Huawei Ascend P1 S and P1 hands-on

This week the folks at Huawei have dropped a bomb: they've got the new "world's thinnest" in smartphones with the Huawei Ascend P1 S - and we've got a hands-on look at both it and its slightly heavier brother, the P1 (with no S). These devices are, as they've told us at Pepcom, essentially the exact same as one another except for their size and price. The P1 S will cost slightly more than the P1 and is just a tiny bit thinner. Both models also run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a special "3D" home screen launcher working here in the demo units. Read The Full Story

HTC Titan II hands-on

This week we’ve gotten the opportunity to get our hands on one of the first Windows Phone devices in the world to run on an LTE network, the HTC Titan II carried by AT&T. This device has a massive 4.7-inch WVGA super LCD capacitive touchscreen, runs on a Qualcomm 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor, and works with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Perhaps the device’s most impressive specification is its utterly massive 16 megapixel camera.

AT&T HTC Titan 2 LTE revealed with 16 megapixel camera

Peter Chou of HTC stepped on the AT&T stage this week to deliver the next generation of Windows Phone devices for AT&T, noting that the leadership in Windows Phone and network technology leads them to the HTC Titan 2 at the start. He spoke on how the original HTC Titan brought Windows Phone users an experience they loved, so they improved it, starting with the camera. This device has a WHOPPING 16 megapixel camera on the back. The folks at Huawei are coming at the world of mobile strong this week with the Huawei Ascend P1 S, a device which they first and foremost tout as the world's slimmest Android smartphone. This device is 6.68 mm thick, has a fabulous 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD 960 x 540 pixel touchscreen, and has a Gorilla Glass panel on the front - the first panel, not the Gorilla Glass 2 revealed this week as well. Corning has come correct this week with their second big iteration of the glass that's almost certainly on the front of your smartphone if you purchased a device inside 2011 - Gorilla Glass 2 they call it, and details have been dropped. What you'll be getting here, basically, is a 20 percent reduction in necessary glass thickness with the same resistance to damage that made Corning's solution so popular through the last year. Samsung Galaxy Note press image leaks, hints at February 14 launch on AT&T

Samsung's Galaxy Note has surfaced in a leaked press image today, obtained by PocketNow. The image confirms a lot of what we've been suspecting, showing the device to be launching on AT&T, which the FCC filing had revealed a while back.
