Samsung 4G-Enabled Galaxy Tab, Smartphone & Mobile Hotspot Announced at CES 2011

While HTC may have been first to pull the trigger on the Verizon stage at the Consumer Electronics Show, showing off the often-rumored about HTC ThunderBolt and making it official, Samsung is ready to announce three new 4G-enabled devices. They aren’t focusing on one market, though. They’ve just announced that they’ve got a smarphone, a tablet, and a mobile hotspot with the Samsung name coming to Verizon soon.

Sprint HTC EVO Shift 4G and Novatel 3G/4G MiFi get official

Sprint has officially announced the HTC EVO Shift 4G, as well as the carrier's MiFi 3G/4G mobile hotspot by Novatel Wireless. The HTC EVO Shift 4G will land on January 9 2011, priced at $149.99, while the 4G-capable MiFi hotspot will follow on February 27 for $49.99. Read The Full Story

T-Mobile USA is readying its first mobile hotspot, and the debut device will apparently support the high-speed HSPA+ 4G service offered by the network. One of two MiFi-style devices for the first half of 2011, the first model - codenamed "Lil Wayne" - is expected to arrive in February 2011 according to TmoNews' sources and support up to 21Mbps downloads. Best Buy offers iPad buyers a free mobile hotspot (with an agreement, naturally)

Best Buy is offering iPad buyers a "free" mobile hotspot to get online with the WiFi-only version of the Apple tablet. The deal, spotted by 9to5Mac, includes Verizon's FiveSpot, AT&T's MiFi 2372 or Sprint's 4G OverDrive, though each does require a new, two-year agreement. Read The Full Story

Novatel MiFi 4082 WiMAX mobile hotspot clears FCC

Novatel Wireless has been promising WiMAX-capable MiFi mobile hotspots since February this year, but it's taken until now for the 4G device to show up in any form. T-Mobile USA has announced that their previously-promised Tethering and WiFi Sharing add-on - which allows mobile hotspot functionality for an extra $14.99 per month - will be available from November 14, for those users on "4G Web – Unlimited" $30 monthly Even More plans or "4G Web – Unlimited" $25 Even More Plus plans. Sprint has announced the ZTE PEEL, a 3G-capable cradle for the iPod touch that basically turns it into a VoIP-capable mobile device. The PEEL - which will drop on November 14, priced at $79.99 with a month-to-month rolling data contract - is in effect a 3G mobile hotspot, capable of sharing its EVDO Rev.A connection with up to two simultaneous WiFi clients. Sprint CEO thanks iPad for hotspot sales; coy on Apple relationship

Neither Sprint 3G or 4G is inside the iPad, and - unlike AT&T and Verizon - the carrier doesn't even sell the Apple tablet in its stores, but that doesn't stop CEO Dan Hesse from being mighty thankful to the slate all the same.  According to Hesse, brisk sales of the carrier's 3G/4G Overdrive mobile hotspot are for the large part down to WiFi-only iPad users wanting to get online via Sprint's CDMA/WiMAX network.  However, he declined to talk to GigaOm about the iPhone and potential relationships with Apple. Verizon data plans refreshed: new $15 smartphone option

Verizon's new data plans have launched, offering smartphone data from $15 for 150MB alongside the original $29.99 unlimited data plan, together with a range of new tariffs for mobile broadband, embedded modems and hotspots like the Verizon FIVESPOT.  Announced earlier this month, the hotspot plans kick off at $20 per month, though there are also contract-free prepay options. Novatel MiFi 3352 and MiFi 3372 3G mobile hotspots spotted in testing

Novatel Wireless' next-gen MiFi mobile hotspots have been caught passing through GCF certification.  The MiFi 3352 and MiFi 3372 each support quadband GSM/EDGE and the 1900/2100 UMTS/HSDPA bands, with the 3352 throwing in 900MHz UMTS/HSDPA support and the 3372 having 850MHz UMTS/HSDPA support.
