Verizon intros new prepaid plans, Jetpack hotspot

Verizon has announced new prepaid plans that will let users avoid being bound to a two-year contract. The new prepaid plans will kick off tomorrow, May 1, starting with an offer that includes unlimited talk and text along with 1GB of data for $80 per month. Verizon $30 Upgrade Fee implemented for existing customers

Mobile device users at Verizon will have a new fee popping up on their bills starting later this month if they do so choose to purchase new equipment at a discounted 2-year price. This fee will be $30 and will be added on to whatever cost a new device purchased on a 2-year contract would have been - this price only added for people already working with Verizon Wireless service. Novatel patent infringement lawsuit against ZTE and FWC still stands [UPDATED]

This week the folks at Novatel Wireless have been allowed to continue a lawsuit against competitors ZTE Corp, ZTE USA, and Franklin Wireless Corp for patent infringement on key architecture and functionality of mobile hotspots. This case has been going on for several months and started more than a year ago, and today's ruling has both of the defendants' requests to dismiss the case shot down by the Judge presiding over the case. This ends up being a sort of preliminary plus for Novatel who could very well have lost quite a bit of money in legal fees if the case had been found void at this point. Read The Full Story

Verizon 4G LTE Jetpack hotspot launching April 12

Verizon announced today that it will be launching a new 4G LTE mobile hotspot on April 12. The device is called the Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MiFi 4620L and will be available through Verizon's website and stores as well as through Best Buy for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year service agreement. Nokia Lumia update to bring WiFi hotspot support

Nokia's Lumia Windows Phone handsets will soon be updated to support tethering, according to the FAQ section of the Nokia Connects website. This means that a Nokia Lumia phone can act as a mobile WiFi hotspot through which your other devices can connect to the internet. Verizon has confirmed that its 4G LTE network will support the new iPad's Personal Hotspot feature at launch. This means that Verizon's customers will be able to use the iPad as a mobile hotspot to which other devices can connect to access its LTE network. Clearwire has released information on price and release for a couple of new hotspots, both of them running on their current WiMAX 4G network. The first is a $99 wifi router mobile hotspot combination device called Clear Hub Express, it made for both your home and your mobile office. The Clear Spot Voyager, on the other hand, is a $124 device and the ability to run WiMAX wirelessly to eight devices for up to six hours on its own internal battery. AT&T Q4 2011: 7.6m iPhones activated, revenue hits $32.5bn

AT&T has revealed its Q4 2011 financial results, with incredibly strong iPhone activations - contributing 7.6m to 9.4m smartphone sales - helping boost revenue by $1.1bn year-on-year to $32.5bn.
