Anonymous turns its attention toward Zynga

Zynga has been in the news a lot lately, but the recent layoffs at the beleaguered social games company have caught the attention of more than just the media. Anonymous isn't all too happy with Zynga at the moment, and it's planning to do something about the company's perceived mistreatment of employees come Guy Fawkes Day. Zynga confirms layoffs, Boston studio shut down

Earlier today, we heard that Zynga had laid off a number of workers and had shut down its Boston studio. At the time, those were only reports, but this afternoon Zynga CEO Mark Pincus confirmed the layoffs and the studio closure to employees in an internal letter posted by Joystiq. In the letter, Pincus explains that not only will Zynga be closing its studio in Boston, but also reducing the workforce at its Austin branch. Read The Full Story

Borderlands Legends confirmed, out for iOS on October 31

Yesterday, we heard a rumor that claimed Gearbox was getting ready to launch a new Borderlands mobile game. It didn't take long for the studio to confirm it, as today it announced that this new game - dubbed Borderlands Legends - will be available for iOS devices on Halloween. ‘Vote!!! the Game’ lets you beat up presidential candidates

Infinity Blade developer Chair Entertainment has a new game it would like you to check out, but this one is quite a bit different than the games we're used to seeing from Chair. Dubbed Vote!!! the Game, this new iOS title allows players to assume the role of their preferred presidential candidate and the proceed to beat the tar out of their opponent. The presidency apparently won't be determined by who is the better orator, but rather by who is more skilled with an ice cream cone or a rubber chicken. Read The Full Story

PopCap co-founder confirms round of layoffs

Sad news for a number of folks working at PopCap today, as studio co-founder John Vechey has announced a round of North American layoffs. The bad news doesn't stop there either, as Vechey also says that the studio is being forced to "evaluate the future of our PopCap office in Dublin, Ireland." Electronic Arts planning to release games for Windows Phone 8

Electronic Arts has revealed that it is in talks with Microsoft to bring mobile games to Windows Phone 8. The new mobile OS is scheduled to launch later this year, and Electronic Arts apparently wants to have a presence when it does. Angry Birds Seasons getting a new pink-feathered character

Rovio has introduced a new character for Angry Birds Seasons, a pink-feathered fowl who apparently likes to blow bubbles. This new bird, named simply "Pink Bird," will be debuting in a new update for the immensely popular game. Gameloft reveals Wild Blood, drops first teaser trailer

Zynga COO John Schappert resigns after losing duties

Zynga has lost one of its biggest players, as it announced that COO John Schappert has resigned. In a statement sent to Fortune, Zynga CEO Mark Pincus confirmed that Schappert had left the company and its board of directors "effective immediately."
