This morning the folks at Mojang have activated Minecraft Realms on Android - in Alpha mode. That means it's probably going to be broken when you play it - but you get to play it early! How neat will that be, playing a game well before it's made its final release? Never did that on Minecraft before I bet, right? This release comes as a side-update to Minecraft Pocket Edition for Android, but you're going to need to go through a short process to make the activation official. Then you'll be online, chopping trees to your heart's delight.

Minecraft is popular, perhaps even notorious, for all the expressions of creativity and man hours lost in its open-ended, blocky, digital world. It is, however, perhaps a little known secret that that isn't the case for all versions of Minecraft. The original PC, not Windows 10, version of the game holds all those promises, but the mobile "Pocket Edition" and Windows 10 edition, which is a lot like the mobile edition, are a lot less capable. Minecraft VR for Android will make Gear VR a monster

The Samsung Gear VR (powered by Oculus) is set to get its own version of the upcoming VR version of Minecraft. This Microsoft-owned game was previously announced to be coming to the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset as well as the Microsoft HoloLens holographic headset - now it's coming to the mobile VR universe as well. This will not be the first time the non-VR version of the game hits mobile - that's been out for several years.

Minecraft is really coming to the Gear VR, date still unknown

Whispers about this has already been circulating for a few months or so, but now Microsoft is finally confirming the rumors, at least according to a spokesperson. At GDC 2016, the new owner of Minecraft will be announcing that Minecraft is indeed coming to the Samsung Gear VR in addition to the Oculus Rift. Considering both VR headsets have Oculus' mark on them, it isn't that much of a surprise but still a very welcome confirmation. Details are still slim nonetheless, leaving just enough room for speculation and wishes.

What this program does is to put control of MinecraftEdu, a program that already exists, into the hands of Microsoft. They'll be calling it Minecraft: Education Edition. It's very similar, but now it'll be controlled by Microsoft.

A 10-year-old has won the world’s first Minecraft National Championship, beating out more than a thousand gamers from across the nation. Julien Wiltshire is a 10-year-old hailing from LA, California; in Minecraft, he goes by the name SuperKraft11. The championship was held by Super League Gaming and took place over the course of 6 weeks in the United States.
