Metal Gear Survive debuts at Gamescom 2016, first Metal Gear post-Kojima

It was only a matter of time before Konami made a new Medal Gear Solid game following last year's departure of series creator Hideo Kojima, but few probably expected it this quickly. The Japanese game developer has announced Metal Gear Survive at Gamescom this week, describing it as a four-player, online co-op survival game that's set after the events of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, the 2014 prequel to MGS5: The Phantom Pain.

Metal Gear hero Solid Snake stars in goofy new Ford ads

Metal Gear hero Solid Snake stars in goofy new Ford ads

Long-time fans of Metal Gear Solid, Konami's stealth-action video game series, know that the original voice actor for hero Solid Snake was unceremoniously replaced in the recent MGS V titles. While none other than TV star Kiefer Sutherland was brought in as the new voice, to many players, David Hayter — who played the character for roughly 10 years — and his distinctive growl will always be synonymous with Snake. Out of the blue, however, Hayter is reprising the role, not for a new MGS game, but for a Ford commercial.

Metal Gear Solid V multiplayer DLC detailed, dated

Konami's Metal Gear Solid V debuted last fall, and while it was a big hit among critics and fans, there's been little in the form of new content since then. Players who enjoy the game's multiplayer component, called Metal Gear Online, will be happy to finally hear about an upcoming expansion that will introduce new maps, a new playable character, and even a new game mode. One of the best parts is that the DLC, titled "Cloaked in Silence," is even coming to the older-gen consoles alongside the PS4 and Xbox One.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Review for NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Review for NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV

Today you're going to be able to play Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on your NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV machine. You, too, can live the glory days of the PlayStation 3 and chopping up your enemies with two-button combinations and ninja running. This game looks pretty gosh-darned good, and not just for a so-called "mobile game", as it's still called. That's just silly - this is a full-fledged release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and you're about to chop it up.

Konami leaving the AAA games business (save soccer)

Konami leaving the AAA games business (save soccer)

No more Metal Gear Solid from Konami - that's what the publisher is said to be executing this season. Right after the release of Metal Gear Online, that is - that'll take place October 6th. Earlier this morning it was made official that Fox Engine (the engine behind Metal Gear Solid) director Julien Merceron was leaving the company, and now it's become apparent that they're leaving MGS behind entirely. They'll still be making Pro Evolution Soccer... so don't worry about that.

Metal Gear Solid V PC disk is just a Steam installer

Purchasers of the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain physical edition have found that their disks do not contain the actual game. Instead, the install disk contains an 8.78 MB version of Valve's Steam installer. While this is not the first time this sort of situation has happened, it is the first time many Metal Gear Solid fans have seen such a disk without actual game files. Some of them are displeased.

Metal Gear Solid V custom PS3 shows true depth of obsession

Metal Gear Solid V custom PS3 shows true depth of obsession

This week we're not the only ones getting pumped up about the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. One fan has gone the extra mile to customize their PlayStation 3 for the release. While we're a bit more partial to the shape of the PlayStation 4 at this point, the customization of this PS3 unit makes us wish we'd had the time to make such a beauty a reality. Sprayed and painted, brushed and polished, this is the coolest (unofficial, one of a kind, believe it or not) MSGV:TPP PS3.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain E3 trailer crosses the line

The newest trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is also the bloodiest. It's not something you're going to want to watch if you've just eaten lunch. Here you'll see the story of being "a child when we were raided by soldiers." Behold the tape, as well. There lies the song "From the man who sold the world" - whether or not it's a song or an invitation, we'll find out soon enough. "His country, his family, his face, his identity - everything was stolen from him."

Head transplant doctor’s MGS5 similarity spawns web of conspiracy

Head transplant doctor’s MGS5 similarity spawns web of conspiracy

The Internet knows no limits to its imagination and the drama it stirs up, and now the doctor best known for his head transplant plans has been swept up into it all. The hoopla started about a week ago when an innocent post was made on NeoGAF comparing a picture of Dr. Sergio Canavero with a doctor character from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (pictures after the jump). This similarity — which is indeed striking — then took off in what has become nothing short of a web of conspiracy, with huge amounts of Internet sleuthing weaving together a massive web of speculation that seems really crazy.

Asia to get rare MGS 5 PS4 model in honor of Snake

It won't be long now and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be landing in the market. And to celebrate that momentous occasion, Sony and Konami have worked together to come out with a special limited edition of the PlayStation 4 that bears the unmistakable markings of the franchise' protagonist, Snake. Now, while it isn't yet sure what will be bundled with the console, though best guess is MGS 5: The Phantom Pain, that might not matter to those in the US and Europe, as the variant will be an Asian exclusive.
