New Nokia MeeGo duo tipped for Next Billion

New Nokia MeeGo duo tipped for Next Billion

Nokia is reportedly planning a further two MeeGo handsets, following the N9 with a pair of low-end devices that will slot into the company's Next Billion strategy for developing markets. The news, supposedly shared with them directly from a source in the Next Billion Group itself NetbookNews reports, would come as some relief to MeeGo fans, who had seen Nokia marginalize the platform in its smartphone push out of preference for Windows Phone.

Nokia N9 gets Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 dual-boot

Nokia N9 hardware and Android Ice Cream Sandwich: be still our beating hearts. The ongoing Nitdroid project to put Android on the MeeGo-powered N9 has come up with a new 4.0.3 alpha release, allowing owners to boot between the official OS and an unofficial injection of Ice Cream Sandwich. Nokia N9 Review

Nokia N9 Review

It's somehow fitting, running our review of the much-anticipated Nokia N9 smartphone on the eve of Nokia World 2011. The company is expected to reveal its plans for salvation, namely adopting Windows Phone, while the N9 runs what Nokia used to believe would save it, MeeGo. A splash of uniqueness never hurt any device, and the N9 has built up a vocal following, convinced MeeGo should have been the Finn's focus instead of a deal with Microsoft. Nokia World 2011: Crunchtime

Nokia World 2011: Crunchtime

It's been quite the month for mobile, and it's not over yet: Nokia is still yet to take the stage, following Apple and Google's respective plays for smartphone dominance.
