UK radio manufacturer Revo have announced their latest model, the DOMINO D3, a DAB/DAB+ digital radio with integrated iPod/iPhone dock and internet radio streaming.  The DOMINO D3 also supports Last.fm streaming, and the whole thing has a soft rubber coating that, while stopping short of making it waterproof, at least does make it fetishistically touchable.

Yes, it’s just a box, and yes, we realise someone – some very dull, poorly-occupied person – could have knocked it up themselves and be laughing at us from behind their camera, but we’ll take the simple route and say this is the first sighting of Qualcomm’s FLO TV Personal TV packaging.  The upcoming device is tipped to be Qualcomm’s attempt to drive adoption of their terrestrial digital TV service, a compact touchscreen slate with integrated speakers.

Cowon have outed their latest PMP, the iAudio 9, complete with a 2-inch QVGA display and voice-recorder functionality.  While it may not have the outright style of some rival devices, one thing Cowon have always impressed with is codec support and the iAudio 9 is looking like it’ll be no different.

While integrated 3G connectivity was tipped for inclusion in the PSP Go back in its rumor days, in the end Sony went for the simple route and just gave their handheld WiFi and Bluetooth.  Thanks to PSP update v6.10, that Bluetooth can be used to tether the Go to a cellphone, meaning connectivity isn’t just limited to wherever you can find a WiFi hotspot.

Networked media players are, if not quite ten-a-penny, then at least increasingly common these days, so it takes more than an ethernet port and an HDMI output to impress us.  QNAP are hoping their NMP-1000 will do just that, however, thanks to its onboard 3.5-inch hard-drive (up to 2TB), Full HD 1080p output, YouTube and Flickr support, automatic NAS backup functionality and UPnP streaming.

apple remote mockupSalt at the ready – and you’ll need a pretty big handful this time around – because according to the Boy Genius Reports’ tipster you’re looking at a “product mockup that may coincide with the launch of a revised Apple TV“.  If you reckon it looks like a touchscreen remote control then you’re not alone.

The device – about which little is known – does show a Safari option, which has led to suggestions that it could be a WiFi tablet in its own right.  Alternatively, if it really is a true companion device to the refreshed Apple TV, it could be a trigger to loading Safari on the mediaplayer, with the remote then working as a touchscreen keyboard and mouse pad to control browsing on your HDTV.

It's not the biggest photo, nor the clearest, but since it shows Qualcomm's FLO TV personal TV mediaplayer in the wild we'll make do.  Initially tipped back in August, the FLO TV PTV handheld is Qualcomm's attempt to push their terrestrial digital TV service which is streamed over a separate chunk of the spectrum in the US.

Apple iPod touch 3G Review

By Ewdison Then on Tuesday, Sep 22nd 2009 No Comments

Apple surprised many people at their recent iPod launch event by focusing on the iPod nano rather than their flagship touchscreen PMP, the iPod touch.  Still, they saved a little magic for the third-generation model, including a lower starting price and some games-focused speed boosts higher up in the range.  Does the iPod touch 3G stay ahead of the pack, or did Apple miss a trick by not tweaking further?  Check out our review after the cut.

iriver’s latest product is out, and unlike their more traditional range of PMPs they’ve branched off into “eco-friendly bike navigation”.  The iriver NV mini bike edition is a sliced-down version of their NV classic, keeping the touchscreen, GPS and media playback but dropping the integrated DMB TV tuner.
