This week at IFA 2011 we've been able to get our hands on more than a couple devices, taking lovely videos as we go - this particular device is certainly not like the others in that instead of a smartphone, tablet, Ultrabook, or pair of earbuds, we've got an odd little music player. This is the Creative Zen X-Fi3, and as Creative shows us, it's meant to be a competitor in the currently iPod-dominated portable music player market. It's got a several features that are sure to turn your head including X-Fi Crystalizer audio enhancement and the ability to play FLAC files, but are they enough to get past the fact that this device does not have a touchscreen display? We've come to expect as much from basically every little portable device like this on the market - does it need to be in tact in order for us to love a product?

Samsung reveals Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 music player

Samsung has announced a new portable media player called the Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 3.6. It follows after a long list of IFA 2011 announcements this morning from the South Korean company but doesn't fall into the smartphone or tablet category. Instead, it appears to simply be a 3.6-inch addition to Samsung's existing 4- and 5-inch Galaxy S Players.

Creative ZEN X-Fi3 media player is packed with cool features for under $100

Creative has trotted out its latest media player today and the little thing is pretty cool looking. The player is called the ZEN X-Fi3 media player and it has a 2-inch screen and measures 65 x 45.5 x 12.5mm. The little player has a microSD card slot to add more music and video when you get low on internal storage. The player uses the X-Fi Crystallizer to make your tunes sound better.

iRiver has been around for a long time making some interesting PMPs and other devices for music and video fans to take with them wherever they go. One of the last items that we talked about from iRiver was the small T9 MP3 player back in May. The new product that has surfaced from iRiver is much more interesting than the low-end T9. The P8 has a big 5-inch touchscreen and a very slick interface with widgets and more that looks like it came from Cupertino.

QNAP has outed its latest network media player, the NMP-1000P, a compact STB that offers Full HD 1080p video, Dolby and DTS digital surround sound, optional NAS functionality and internet media streaming.  Able to gobble up a 3.5-inch hard-drive in its internal bay - either for storing local content or acting as a backup drive for networked computers - the NMP-1000P uses Sigma Designs new 667MHz SMP8643 SoC video/audio decoder.
