Maxell have announced a new range of flash memory, and rather than picking a format and sticking to it they’ve splashed out on a whole bevy of products.  The new storage includes a basic USB drive, through “Slider”, “360-degree” and “Style” models with retracting USB plug, flipping cover and encryption respectively, to microSD, SD and Compact Flash cards.

maxell dvd r recallI quitted achieving data in DVD optical recording media ages ago, but my Aunt Sally in Osaka still can’t get enough of the lowest cost per gigabyte’s optical storage. She wouldn’t be please though, to hear that stacks of al-cheapo Maxell DVD-R of hers are being recalled due to manufacturing error.

Hitachi has initiated a recall on its Maxell- DVR optical disk lineup due to labeling ink issues that could contaminate disk surface to dirt.

Hitachi Maxell have announced a set of noise-cancelling iPod earphones that require no batteries.  Instead, the Apple-only earbuds rely on the iPod’s own battery.  The HP-NC20.IPs have an iPod dock connector rather than a 3.5mm headphone plug, and use a separate volume slider on the plug itself as the PMP’s own volume control will not affect the headphones.

Maxell have updated their MXSP speaker dock to fit the latest iPod nano and touch models, as well as the iPhone.  The MXSP-1100 is compatible with all Apple’s iPod and iPhone range thanks to a universal cradle, and has twin 4.2W speakers with 80Hz to 20kHz frequency range.
