During a lovely September week in 2011, Microsoft Windows 8 was announced and launched for developers. The event this launch occurred at was what Microsoft was presenting as a welcome to Windows 8, especially in regards to the 5,000 developers at BUILD, launching the platform with there eyes directly fixed on applications, the whole situation a large opportunity for developers. This is the beginning of Windows 8 as it exists in a sense that there’s no product launch here from Microsoft, instead there’s an opportunity for 3rd party developers to get on board here right at the start of the next-wave OS. What lies beneath is a living document which takes what Microsoft Windows 8 is at the start here in 2011 and how it will evolve over time.

AT&T promises Mango for existing Windows Phones

AT&T has confirmed that its current line-up of Windows Phone 7 handsets will all get upgrades to 7.5 Mango sometime this fall, bringing the range in line with the three new models announced this morning. The HTC HD7S and HTC Surround, the LG Quantum and the Samsung Focus are all in line for an update, with AT&T promising to be "among the first carriers to start" the process. AT&T Samsung Focus S and Focus Flash plus HTC Titan due Q4

AT&T has announced a trio of new 4G Windows Phone 7 Mango handsets, the Samsung Focus S, HTC Titan and Samsung Focus Flash. Each packing HSPA+ connectivity, the Focus S and Focus Flash both get a 1.4GHz processor while the Titan - which we played with earlier this month - has a 1.5GHz chip. HTC was Microsoft’s most ambitious partner at the original Windows Phone launch, and the company has a similarly strong line-up now that Mango is on the scene. HTC Radar Windows Phone Revealed

What we've got here is the second of at least two HTC Windows Phone devices that have or will be revealed this week at IFA 2011 in Berlin, Germany. What this device amounts to is a slightly less awesome version of the other Windows Phone we saw today coming from HTC as well. What this device has is a 3.8-inch display at 480 x 800 pixel resolution, HSPA and WXDMA connections along with Quad-band GSM, GPRS, and EDGE. HTC TITAN Windows Phone Revealed

One of at least two HTC Windows Phone OS devices being revealed this week at IFA 2011 was the HTC TITAN, a 1.5 GHz single-core having handset with an 8-megapixel camera on the back with f/2.2 aperture, a 28mm lens, and double LED flash. There's also a back-illuminated sensor and the back-facing camera is capable of filming 720p HD video. This device will connect over 3G networks, Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE included, HSPA/WCDMA as well. Nokia’s first Windows Phone spied in leaked photo with blurry specs

Nokia's very first Windows Phone 7 Mango handset has made an appearance in what's purported to be a leaked carrier presentation sheet. Codenamed "Sea Ray," the handset first surfaced in an internal company video of Nokia CEO Stephen Elop introducing the phone to employees. But since then, little has been revealed about the device, and now it has possibly turned up again as the Nokia 703 with specs listed, though conveniently too blurry to be read. Read The Full Story
