Microsoft temporarily stops publishing new Windows Phone apps

It appears that Microsoft is having some issues with a few new Windows Phone 7.5 apps, and as a result has decided to stop publishing new ones as it works on delivering a fix. According to a recent post on the Microsoft blog, there's a glitch with the digital certificates used to sign apps, meaning that some apps which were published in the last few days aren't installing properly. Microsoft also says that the problem has nothing to do with your phone, so at least you don't have to worry about that. Read The Full Story

Microsoft: Windows Phone legacy users update, or else

In an update that comes down from the top, straight from Microsoft's Windows Phone officials that is, users will have to move to the Mango update for the mobile OS or get cut off entirely from the app Marketplace. This move is specifically for the smartphone-based software while large apps and games will still be able to be downloaded using Zune software as noted by Windows Phone's Mazar Mohammed. This update is being pushed so that Windows Phone can have a uniform update to their Marketplace and so they can "pave the way for new store features and new apps in the months ahead." Smartphone seekers brand-loyal to the Microsoft-made mobile operating system Windows Phone will be glad to know that the Nokia Lumia 900 is out now - and reviewers are loving it. Everyone including our own Michael Crider seems to be lauding Nokia's effort in this device which takes their well-received Windows Phone lineup thus far and boosts it to what might be the perfect chassis size with a 4.3-inch display inside. AT&T confirms Windows Phone Tango update soon

Windows Phone users working with AT&T-connected devices for the past few weeks and months have been in a bit of a pickle as the carrier has not sent out a Microsoft-made software update made available this January. This update fixed several bugs in Windows Phone 7.5 Mango including a "disappearing keyboard" issue - all of this will now instead be fixed by a slightly more grand update instead. AT&T representative Anne Marshall spoke up this week about how AT&T has decided to skip smaller, incremental updates to Windows Phone in the short run and stick with larger updates like Windows Phone Tango, which is up for release next.
