Mac Pro 2013 3D printed for early side-by-side photographs

While the 2013 edition of the Mac Pro wont be delivered as a final market-ready consumable until later this year, the folks at Japan-based Mac People magazine have decided they couldn't wait any longer. They've taken what specifications they could gather of the Mac Pro 2013 and have taken to the 3D printing machines they had on-hand, creating what's not exactly the Mac Pro as such, but just about as close as we're going to get until Apple releases the real deal.

MacBook Pro Haswell refresh tipped for September

MacBook Pro Haswell refresh tipped for September

After the WWDC 2013 boost given to the MacBook Air range with Intel's 4th generation Core processor technology, it would appear that the end of Summer is appearing as the most likely landing spot for this team-up with the MacBook Pro. What better time to bring this Haswell action in a FULL reboot than the push for both Apple's mobile and desktop operating systems in the second half of this year? It may well be the (still unofficial) September 10th event where this all goes down.

Mac Pro 2013 teaser video suggests launch is near

The Apple device known as Mac Pro was reintroduced earlier this year with a promise that it'd be delivered before the end of 2013. Today a new video spot for the machine has appeared via Apple affirming the device to be appearing "this Fall". This video trailer also affirms that the device is still small and tube-shaped, with a circle up top that Apple assures viewers represents a ring of fire, the planet Earth, a human eye, a solar eclipse, and a hurricane.

Why the Mac Pro, Not the iPhone 5S, Is My Most-Anticipated Apple Product In 2013

Why the Mac Pro, Not the iPhone 5S, Is My Most-Anticipated Apple Product In 2013

With the possibility of Apple holding a special press event on September 10 looming large in the industry, the excitement surrounding the expected launch of the iPhone 5S has hit a tipping point. Everywhere one turns, they’re finding more rumors and more excitement about the possibility of Apple delivering a new smartphone.

Although I’m an iPhone owner and I’m all for investing in a new smartphone, the iPhone 5S isn’t nearly as important to me as it might be to others. Like it or not, the iPhone 5S promises to be a known quantity. So, perhaps that’s why I’m so excited for the new Mac Pro. In fact, that computer will be everything the iPhone 5S just isn’t.

Mac Pro 2013 glass case concept is impractical but lustworthy

Mac Pro 2013 glass case concept is impractical but lustworthy

Apple's new Mac Pro may be a lesson in rethinking workstation component layouts, but wouldn't it be better if you could actually see all that clever construction through a custom glass sleeve? Designer and 3D artist Martin Hajek thought so, and so cooked up some renders of the Mac Pro 2013 with its metal casing replaced, not only with glass - and reminiscent of the G4 Cube Steve Wozniak is so enamored with - but with perforated aluminum and even some sleek metallic finishes.

Dear Apple, here’s what I want from the new Thunderbolt Display

Dear Apple, here’s what I want from the new Thunderbolt Display

The Apple Thunderbolt Display is long overdue a makeover. Revealed in July 2011, the 27-inch monitor has watched generations of MacBook come and go - and, until this year at least, the Mac Pro stagnate with no compatibility whatsoever - and, despite the iMac aesthetic it originally echoed being significantly upgraded last October, still languishes with its original design. Sometimes, with Apple, you have to be patient. The company has, for the most part, a yearly refresh cycle, but the Thunderbolt Display is (in tech terms) old. Still, that arguably just gives Apple the chance to do something particularly special with the new Thunderbolt Display - so here's my wish list.

Steve Wozniak talks in-car tech, Google Glass, and the new Mac Pro

Steve Wozniak talks in-car tech, Google Glass, and the new Mac Pro

During Ford’s Trend Conference at the company’s headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak sat in during a panel about driving distractions in vehicles and what solutions we could see in the future to limit these distractions in the car. Are touchscreens in the dashboard really the way to go? Do wearables like Google Glass cut down on distraction? We ended up getting to speak with Wozniak personally about in-vehicle technology, Google Glass, and even the new Mac Pro.

What Makes Apple Different?

What Makes Apple Different?

I have a question for all of you that, for the life of me, I just can’t answer on my own: what makes Apple different?

Yes, I know it’s a question that’s been posed before, and some have said in the past that it was Steve Jobs or the company’s massive cash coffers. Others have said it’s a corporate culture. But I just don’t think any of those answers fully captures what truly makes Apple special and different.
