Lumix GF2 HD Camera Gets Looked at Close Up

Mister Vlad Savov of Engadget got the chance to wrap his fingers around Panasonic's newest and smallest Micro Four Thirds and take a bunch of photos and video with it. It's full HD. It's very much excellence it does seem. This camera is reportedly 19% smaller than the Lumix GF1, and that's saying something. It's also 7% lighter, functions with a lovely touchscreen user interface, and takes video in 720/60p or 1080/60i recording in AVCHD format. Behold this cool maybe-bulky, maybe-tiny enough for a pocket large-sensor shooter.

Panasonic LUMIX GF2 official: Full HD, touchscreen & 19% smaller

Panasonic has officially announced the LUMIX DMC-GF2, their latest Micro Four Thirds camera and 19-percent smaller than the LUMIX GF1 it replaces.  The LUMIX GF2 has a 12.1-megapixel sensor which Panasonic is calling Live MOS, and reckons it offers the image quality of a CCD with the low power consumption of a CMOS; it's also capable of Full HD 1920 x 1080 60i video (or 1280 x 720 60p) with stereo audio recording.

The promise of 13.2-megapixels in a cellphone-sized package is a red rag to video-hungry bloggers, and so the SlashGear Japan team made sure to stop by Panasonic's booth at CEATEC 2010 this week to check out their new LUMIX phone.  To the untrained eye it could be mistaken for one of the legion of existing Japanese feature-phones on the market, but sure enough if you turn it around there's a 13.2MP sensor and a high-intensity flash.

Panasonic LUMIX Phone tipped for CEATEC 2010 reveal [Update: 13.2MP!]

Panasonic are preparing to extend their LUMIX digital camera brand to cellphones, with the company kicking off a teaser campaign ahead of a promised unveil at CEATEC next week.  Details on the handset are sparse, but Panasonic has confirmed the LUMIX Phone will have their Mobile VenusEngine, WiFi with DLNA media streaming and - according to one translation - a 3-megapixel Update: 13.2-megapixel camera with digital zoom.

Panasonic Lumix FZ100, FZ40, FX700, LX5 and TS10 all get official

Panasonic has outed a full five new digital cameras in its Lumix range, including rugged models, HD-video capable shooters and the company's first full hybrid.  The Panasonic Lumix FZ100 kicks things off, with a 14.1-megapixel sensor, Full HD video recording, 24x optical zoom and 11fps burst rates, while the Lumix DMC-FZ40 gets the same sensor and can shoot 720p HD AVCHD Lite video.

Panasonic Lumix GF1 updated with pink & silver versions

If you were tempted by Panasonic's Lumix GF1 micro four thirds camera last year, but put off by its intimidating black casing, excellent news.  The company has announced two new versions of the GF1, with the only differences being that they get silver and pink shells.  The two new Lumix snappers have the same 12-megapixel sensor as the original, together with the interchangeable lenses.
