Verizon has needed a new Windows Phone 8 flagship, and Nokia was the obvious choice to deliver it. Don't mistake the Lumia Icon for a side-thought in Nokia's smartphone schemes, however. On paper, at least, it takes the key things we loved from AT&T's Lumia 1520, and distills them down to a more hand-friendly scale. Does reality live up to those high expectations? Nokia media-centric phone teaser likely to be Verizon Lumia 929 Icon

Nokia has begun teasing its latest device, promising something with an emphasis on audio quality that will be revealed soon. The clip - which opens with the tagline "Have you heard what's coming?" and then promises that soon Nokia fans will be able to "See and hear what you've been missing", over a backing track of engine and race-car noises - gives no real indication of what device it might be referring to, though some are suggesting it may be for the much-rumored Nokia Lumia 929 Icon with Rich Recording.

There's an update for the app called Cinemagraph out there this week that allows the user to export the media created by the app through the camera of the mobile device it's on. With the original release of Cinemagraph, users were able to share their moving-image creations with the ecosystem created for the app itself. Nokia's net sales in the last quarter of 2013 rose 18-percent compared to Q3, but the company still ended the year down €12.7bn ($17.4bn) compared to 2012. "The fourth quarter of 2013 was a watershed moment in Nokia's history" interim CEO Risto Siilasmaa said today, arguing that the three businesses Nokia will be left with after selling off its Devices & Services division to Microsoft all had "healthy" operating margins.

To show off the camera on its iPhone 5s, Apple partnered with Burberry to be the exclusive recording apparatus for the runway show. Nokia has revealed that it did something similar for its megapixels-packing Lumia 1020, which was used exclusively by famous photographer Joy Marie Smallwood to photograph and record a real wedding. Taking a look at the pictures, we'd say the little handset did a mighty big job.

Sygic: GPS Navigation, the offline nav-and-map app for iOS and Android, has added some new third-party integrations for discovering nearby deals and parking options. Already glutted with online and offline additions over the course of the company's decade-long history, the freemium Sygic app competes with Nokia HERE Drive, the offline nav-and-map app for Lumia devices. A ParkMe addition brings the older Sygic app back into parity with the Nokia app.
