Verizon’s Lumia lifeboat could buoy Nokia

Verizon’s Lumia lifeboat could buoy Nokia

The mobile device and data carrier Verizon is often considered the one to beat in the United States, making this week's report of a possible exclusive release with Nokia a ray of positive light for the smartphone manufacturer. Sources have mentioned the possibility of a device coming to Verizon in the very near future by the name Nokia Lumia 928, one we've heard rumors of before. This device would take the successes of the Nokia Lumia 920 and bring a Verizon-tuned setup to the market with 4G LTE, aiming for a win with Windows Phone 8 while the majority of the devices carried by this top US mobile provider run iOS or Android.

Nokia Lumia 928 tipped for Verizon with aluminum body

This week the folks at Verizon and Nokia appear to be closer than ever to releasing a Windows Phone 8 machine to beat the rest - an upgraded version of the Nokia Lumia 920 with 4G LTE. This new model will have 4G LTE as the AT&T version did, but with Verizon backing it up it'll have a whole new aluminum body, Xenon flash for its back-facing camera, and a new name, as well. Welcome today - unofficially, for now - the Nokia Lumia 928.

Nokia Lumia 720 USA release imminent: FCC tapped

Nokia Lumia 720 USA release imminent: FCC tapped

Today the Nokia Lumia 720 has been spotted running through the hoops at the FCC, this being one of the prerequisites for a USA release and a generally OK indicator that a launch here in the states is imminent. We got to take a peek at the Lumia 720 just a week ago at Mobile World Congress 2013 and found it to be a rather impressive machine - especially considering how inexpensive the company aims for it to be. We're to understand that this device may be heated to AT&T first, with the other major carriers coming up quickly behind.

Nokia Lumia 928 spotted in Verizon Wireless’s inventory

Nokia Lumia 928 spotted in Verizon Wireless’s inventory

Those of you on contract with Verizon Wireless may be excited to hear that the Nokia Lumia 928 has been spotted on Verizon's inventory log. The Lumia 928 has actually been placed there way back in January 17th, and it should be coming out sometime in the near future. Verizon's customers have been waiting anxiously for the Nokia Lumia 920 to make it to their carrier ever since it launched on AT&T's network, and while there is the Nokia Lumia 822 on Verizon's Network, it doesn't have the same aesthetic appeal as the Lumia 920.

Nokia Lumia 520 hands-on: the new high end of low

Nokia Lumia 520 hands-on: the new high end of low

In the Nokia Lumia 520 you've got Nokia's newest low-end of great, including their renewed dedication to a pure aesthetic, Windows Phone 8, and a rather inexpensive price point. This device is a bit of a shell in the way it appears in the hand, with the front being more of a flat experience while the back bubbles out, and the edges are sharp. Of course no Nokia would be a real Nokia if the edges were actually sharp as a device could be, so you'll find this device "pillowy" when compared to the rest of the smartphones of the world made by non-Nokia OeMs.

This device has what Nokia calls high-end innovation while it does so with 3G connectivity - like the Lumia 720, this is another device made for the non-LTE networks around the world.

This device is one of two new Lumia devices to be showing up at Mobile World Congress 2013, the other being slightly smaller and coming in quite similar with the name Lumia 520. The Lumia 720 works with a lovely S, otherwise looking quite similar to the already launched Lumia 820 - on the market in both the USA and abroad.

Nokia tablet tipped by CEO on heels of Surface

Nokia tablet tipped by CEO on heels of Surface

This week the CEO of Nokia Stephen Elop has hinted that they've once again begun considering the possibility of a tablet PC in the near future. This word comes from an interview Elop did with the Australian Financial Review in which he says the company is not announcing a tablet, but is watching the Microsoft Surface tablet specifically to see how the market will respond to Windows 8 in tablet form. Though this is not an official announcement of a tablet being created by Nokia, it does remind us that they've got tablets in mind as a potential future pathway.
