The Fall of the Damned Pendant Lampshade

, Nov 14th 2007 Discuss [0]

Lighting doesn't always have to be obviously odd or twisted. Sometimes you can have lighting such as this Fall of the Damned pendant lampshade that appears perfectly elegant upon first glance but soon gives way to a much more sadistic meaning. Read The Full Story

ZeroHouse offers up very “Green” house

Sure, its just a concept, meaning its just on paper, but it sounds fairly plausible. It uses LED lighting, has a giant solar panel on top, and utilizes gravity pumps in place of electrical ones. I am sure there are a lot more green features inside, but those are all the major ones. The gravity pumps will push 2700 gallons of water all over the place, and the LEDs will last 100k hours before needing replaced. Read The Full Story

Super Mario Brothers Multi LED Mushroom Pumpkin

, Oct 30th 2007 Discuss [0]

If you're going to have a geek inspired jack-o-lantern then why stick to those pesky candles? Not only does it light up with LED lights it lights up in three separate colors. The video tutorial shows you step by step how to cut out the Mario mushroom and then how to hook up the shiny lights. A small suggestion, don't put it outside till it's completely dark because this is one design that looks really ugly with the lights on. You can't even tell the thing is a mushroom. Eco-friendly wind up lamp looks cool, saves energy

This cool lamp has a giant wind up knob on its back. I think it looks pretty cool, and the fact that the handle not only winds up the spring inside, but acts as a timer, I think that’s great. It will also be one of the few lamps that get its power from you, the winder. I don’t know what the deal is with Earth friendly lighting solutions, but this is the third this week, first it was the 8 watt 400 lumen LED, then it was the Firewinder yesterday, and now a wind up lamp. Firewinder is a spinning wind-powered light source

Tom Lawton designed this awesome thing that converts just a little breeze into a lot of light. It doesn’t get bright enough to be useful for work, but it will provide a little light, and act as a beacon of sorts. It will work with wind speeds as low as 3 miles per hour, all the way up to 40mph. The optimum speed is 5-7 mph though. Read The Full Story

LED from Seoul semiconductors could be world’s brightest

One LED, on average, will put out about 100 lumens, this new LED, four times that. That’s right, 400 lumens from one LED, I know what you are thinking, this thing must suck a lot of power, not so much, eight watts. The average light of the LED is actually 350 lumens and the maximum is 420 lumens. That’s still not bad, 350 lumens from a single LED at 8w means they can start implementing them for cheap hopefully, in the industrial and residential markets. Just imagine how much energy your city would save if they switched their street lights to this? Read The Full Story
