Libratone, maker of felt-covered wireless speakers, has abandoned its obsession with Apple, updating three of its most recent models to support Android and Windows thanks to freshly-added DLNA support. The Libratone Zipp, Live, and Lounge models will all gain DLNA streaming capabilities, piping music from your smartphone, tablet, or Windows PC over your WiFi network. Wool-clad speaker company Libratone has outed its latest model, the Zipp, a wireless AirPlay-enabled model with battery life good for four hours of standalone streaming. Borrowing the fabric covered style of its felty predecessors, the Zipp supports direct AirPlay connections using Libratone's own PlayDirect WiFi technology, allowing the $399 speaker to hook straight up to your iPhone or iPad rather than requiring a wireless network in-between. The high-end wireless speakers feature a sleek and simple design fully covered with soft Italian cashmere in a variety of colors. Libratone Lounge and Live AirPlay Speakers hands-on [Video]

Boutique wireless speaker manufacturer Libratone has pounced on AirPlay, announcing a pair of new all-in-one units – the Lounge and the Live – back in July that each use Apple’s streaming technology, and we caught up with them at IFA 2011 this week to listen to the results. The Live looks identical to the Libratone Live we reviewed earlier this year, but swaps AirPlay for the company’s proprietary wireless, while the Lounge is a far larger system intended to be wall-mounted under your TV.

Danish wireless audio start-up Libratone brought their Beat speakers along to IFA 2010 a few months back and promised a January 2011 release; now it seems they've gone one better, and will have them on sale in December instead.
