Optimus 3D vs Optimus Tab: Not all HD 3D video is created equal

When we caught up with LG earlier today, to check out the freshly announced Optimus 3D and Optimus Tab, we couldn't help but wonder about the discrepancy between the smartphone's 1080p Full HD 3D recording capabilities and the tablet's 720p HD 3D recording. Turns out, there's more to a 1GHz, dual-core chipset than just its ARM cores: the Optimus 3D's Texas Instruments OMAP4430 has native support for Full HD recording in 3D, while the NVIDIA Tegra 2 in the Tab doesn't.

LG Partners with YouTube 3D

LG announced at their press conference this morning here at Mobile World Congress 2011 their new Optimus 3D smart phone.  This device's claim to fame is that it can capture and play back 3D content without the need of 3D glasses.   They also announced a partnership with YouTube's 3D channel for easy upload and sharing of captured 3D content from the Optimus 3D directly to YouTube's dedicated 3D channel.

LG has officially announced the LG Optimus 3D, the company's 3D-capable smartphone based on a Texas Instruments 1GHz dual-core OMAP4 processor and a 5-megapixel dual-lens camera for 3D video capture. The Optimus 3D has an autostereoscopic 3D glasses-free display measuring in at 4.3-inches and WVGA resolution.

LG Optimus 3D leaks ahead of MWC 2011 debut?

We're already expecting the LG Optimus 3D to be made official at MWC 2011 next month - after all, it's already been given one patchy pre-order listing and LG's "new dimension" teasing invite isn't hard to interpret - but now what's believed to be the handset itself has seemingly leaked. Phandroid's tipster doesn't confirm what exact LG this is, but the best guess is that we're looking at the 3D Android phone.
