Lexus GS450h F SPORT: The best hybrid Toyota won’t sell you

Lexus GS450h F SPORT: The best hybrid Toyota won’t sell you

Toyota's best-selling hybrid car is the Prius; it's best hybrid car period could well be the Lexus GS450h F SPORT. While Toyota hybrids have capitalized on the earth-friendly, fuel-sipping potential of models like the Prius, over in the Lexus stable the addition of electric has been with more driver-friendly enhancement in mind, emphasizing the marque's legendary smooth drive with the lashings of quiet torque the technology can deliver. None represents that green madness better than the GS450h F SPORT, and so unsurprisingly we jumped at the opportunity to test out a car that had been specially shipped over to show us what the US is missing.

Toyota recalls Prius and Lexus hybrids over brake issues

There's been quite a few recalls throughout the past year, and Toyota isn't new to them at all, as today's recall is the company's third major one in under a year. Toyota is recalling 242,000 Prius hybrids, as well as hybrids from the car maker's Lexus division, specifically the HS hybrid. 2014 Lexus IS Prototype Test Drive

2014 Lexus IS Prototype Test Drive

Lexus has come a long way since the days of the buffed-up Toyota luxo-barge, and the 2014 Lexus IS is arguably the best illustration of that. True, the new 3-Series rival may not have the same wealth of outlandish madness as the LFA sportscar (though it does borrow some of the $375k limited-edition's cabin features) or the brutish luxury of the LS, but the striking design and eager pricing make for a freshly competitive car. Lexus brought us out to the Rockingham Speedway to see how the 2014 IS ticks.

Lexus teases striking new IS ahead of Detroit reveal

Lexus has taken the wraps off of its new IS sport sedan, including previewing a meaty looking F SPORT variant, ahead of the car's official launch at the Detroit Auto Show next week. The new IS 250, IS 350, and IS 300h - the first hybrid in the IS series - feature a far bolder spindle grille upfront, distilled from the company's larger models, with more dramatic styling that ramps up the sense of drama from the somewhat conservative current model.

TMG Sports 650 hones Lexus luxobarge into Japanese monster

TMG Sports 650 hones Lexus luxobarge into Japanese monster

A Lexus sedan might not be the first donor car you think of for a beefy road-destroying super cruiser, but TMG's Sports 650 take on the LS 460 could well shatter the superiority of meaty Mercedes and BMWs. The independent performance brand is better known for crafting Toyota's F1 cars, but Toyota Motorsport Gmbh turned its hand to road-going cars with the Sports 650, a 5-liter V8 monster with a sub-4s 0-60mph sprint.
