Lexar today announced the industry’s first 1000x CompactFlash memory cards. Professional photographers and videographers will appreciate these blazing-fast cards, which offers a minimum guaranteed sustained read speed of 150MB per second of faster and a write speed of 145MB per second.

The cards support the Video Performance Guarantee (VPG-20) specification for professional quality videos at high frame rates without dropped frames. This enables capturing and storing 1080p Full HD videos and 3D videos as well.

The cards come in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB capacities and are priced at $169.99, $299.99, $529.99, and $899.99, respectively. They will be available in February.

New Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader Dramatically Accelerates Digital Workflow

Fremont, CA, May 19, 2011 – Lexar Media, a leading global provider of memory products for digital media, today announced the new Lexar® Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader, a high-performance card reader that enables professional and advanced amateur photographers and videographers to maximize their workflow with blazing-fast transfer speeds. The reader leverages SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) technology to deliver high-speed performance that supports the latest CompactFlash® (CF) UDMA, Secure Digital Extended Capacity™ (SDXC)**, and SD Ultra High Speed-I (UHS-I) memory cards. The versatile reader is also backwards compatible with standard CF, SD™, and Secure Digital High Capacity™ (SDHC) memory cards and USB 2.0 host devices. For additional information about the Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader, visit www.lexar.com.

“USB is the most popular connectivity option for PCs, and it’s critical that professional photographers and videographers have convenient and versatile tools to maximize their workflow and fully leverage the performance of their high-speed memory cards,” said Manisha Sharma, director of product marketing for cards, Lexar Media. “The Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader combines extremely fast performance with a versatile, innovative design to provide pro and hobbyist shooters with a reader that dramatically reduces image transfer time. The speed offered by the reader enables users to move large volumes of high-resolution images and HD video faster than ever, allowing them to spend less time at the PC and more time on other activities.”

The Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader features the new SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface, which operates at 500MB per second; while the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface operates at 60MB per second*. The Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader takes advantage of the performance of high-speed cards. Real-world tests prove that today’s high-performance cards can be read more than six times faster with the Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader than with previous generation USB 2.0 card readers, and future high-performance cards are likely to enable an even faster data transfer experience. The reader can transfer content from both SD and CF cards simultaneously, and allows for easy file transfer from one card to another. The USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader also features an innovative, pop-up mechanism that lets users close the reader when not in use, protecting it from dirt and debris. Its compact, portable design means users can take it on the go, and its smooth contours help it slip easily in and out of a photo bag or briefcase.

The Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader provides consumers with the quality and reliability they have come to expect from Lexar Media. All Lexar product designs are tested in the Lexar Quality Labs, a group of facilities where all Lexar product designs undergo extensive testing to ensure performance, quality, compatibility, and reliability with more than 800 intended digital devices.

The Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader comes with free, dedicated customer support and a five-year limited warranty. The reader is available now for purchase on www.lexar.com, and will be available from leading photo retailers in June, with an MSRP of $49.99.

Lexar Media announced today that it is releasing two new professional SDXC memory cards, including one that is the industry’s first to boast a 128GB capacity. Both the 64GB and 128GB cards should come to the delight of photographers and videographers as they are high-capacity and high-speed.

The Lexar Professional 133x SDXC memory cards will be perfect for capturing extended lengths of 1080p HD video and for shooting continuous rapid-fire images. The 133x rating means that the cards guarantee a minimum transfer speed of 20MB per second, which will significantly accelerate workflows when transferring images and HD videos from memory card to computer via a SDXC-enabled card reader.

These SDXC memory cards also include the latest version of the Image Rescue software to help recover lost or deleted photo and video files. Both the 64GB and 128GB versions are available now for $199.99 and $329.99 respectively at B&H Photo and Video, Adorama Camera, and on Lexar.com. We here at SlashGear will be getting our hands on the 64GB card at CTIA later this month, so make sure to check back for our extensive review.

As ever, there’s no real indication of how Lexar’s cards are differentiated from the rest of the gaming memory out there, nor from standard, non-gaming-targeted memory. Lexar say it’s all about performance and reliability, but we’d argue regular cards generally offer that too. Still, if you’re swayed by packaging then head on over to the company’s online store; prices start from $25 for an SDHC or $38 for a Memory Stick Micro M2.

No special setup on the camera is required, though the PC or Mac being used does need a specific piece of software installing before it can act as a remote depository. It doesn’t appear as though you can offload images via a WiFi hotspot, however, only your home network.

The Lexar Shoot-n-Sync 2GB WiFi Memory Card will begin shipping in October. It’ll be priced, as with the Eye-Fi cards, at $99.

Press Release:

New Lexar Shoot-n-Sync Wi-Fi Memory Card Gives Consumers Exciting Wireless Option for Uploading and Sharing Digital Photos

2GB SD-Compatible Memory Card Enables Users to Wirelessly Send Photos to Their Computers, Social Networking and Photo-Sharing Websites

FREMONT, Calif. –(Business Wire)– Sep. 18, 2008 Lexar Media, a leading global provider of memory products for digital media, is giving digital photo enthusiasts the opportunity to “cut the cord” with the introduction of its Shoot-n-Sync(TM) Wi-Fi(R) memory card — a convenient wireless solution for uploading digital photos to computers as well as sharing them via social networking and photo-sharing websites. The 2GB memory card, compatible with SD-compatible digital cameras, reliably records and stores digital photos in a camera just like a standard memory card, but adds the time-saving convenience and simplicity of wireless uploading from camera to computer — and directly to the Internet.

Easy, No-Hassle Photo Uploading

With its advanced Wi-Fi connectivity, the Lexar Shoot-n-Sync Wi-Fi memory card is a great product for a wide range of photographers from bloggers, web surfers, and social-networkers to busy parents, traveling executives, and students. The Lexar Shoot-n-Sync Wi-Fi memory card provides a simple and convenient solution for managing all their digital photos. Instead of removing the memory card from a camera, transferring it to a reader, connecting the reader, and then dragging each individual photo onto the computer, the Lexar Shoot-n-Sync Wi-Fi memory card offers users a much simpler solution.

How It Works

As an Eye-Fi Connected product, the Lexar Shoot-n-Sync Wi-Fi memory card features Eye-Fi technology and connects to Eye-Fi’s web service to wirelessly and automatically upload photos from a digital camera to the web and to a computer. Eye-Fi is dedicated to building products and services that help consumers navigate, nurture and share their digital memories. After the brief initial installation of Eye-Fi Manager software on your PC, the card is ready to wirelessly download copies of any photos stored on it, automatically to your computer, as soon as it comes within range of your home computer’s wireless network. Without removing the card from the camera, users can back up photos to a computer or transfer them to photo-sharing, social networking, or blog sites. After the digital photo copies are sent, all a user has to do is approve the transfers and they can be instantly shared with the world. Learn more about the Lexar Shoot-n-Sync memory card at http://www.lexar.com/digfilm/sd_wifi.html.

Manisha Sharma, Lexar director of product marketing, noted: “Lexar is committed to delivering innovative products that enhance people’s enjoyment of digital photography. The Lexar Shoot-n-Sync Wi-Fi memory card not only provides our customers the reliability and quality of Lexar memory, but the opportunity to enjoy a new level of wireless convenience — free from the hassles of cables and greatly simplifies transferring photos from camera to PC.”

Compatible with both Windows(R) and Mac(R) operating systems, the 2GB Lexar Shoot-n-Sync Wi-Fi memory card will ship in October.

Lexar has rolled out a pair of 16GB USB flash drives in its JumpDrive range, the FireFly and Secure II Plus. The FireFly is the more basic of the two, with a simple blue LED indicator to show drive activity and red colored casing. The Secure II, meanwhile, has a built-in capacity meter indicating how much storage space remains. It also includes 256-bit AES encryption software to secure whatever data is on it.

Both encrypted and unencrypted files can be kept on the Secure II, with switching between the two as straightforward as dragging documents in and out of the encrypted area. There’s also a file-shredder that can destroy unwanted documents beyond the clutches of file recovery tools.

The 16GB JumpDrive FireFly and the 16GB JumpDrive Secure II Plus will both be priced at $99. The former will be available on August 20th, while the latter will be released at some point in September.
