Lenovo have quietly introduced a new all-in-one nettop, the IdeaCentre C100, based on Intel’s N270 1.6GHz Atom processor and up to 2GB of RAM.  Initially hitting shelves this month running Vista and with a standard 20-inch display, the C100 will get an upgrade to Windows 7 once the new OS arrives in October, along with an optional touchscreen layer.

Scant details of Lenovo’s upcoming IdeaPad, the U450p, have appeared on the company’s site.  While full specifications, pricing and release availability are unknown, the IdeaPad U450p is known to have a “nice” 14-inch display and Core 2 Duo ULV processor (most likely from Intel’s CULV range).

Whew! The week is over already and this has been another busy one here at SlashGear with more new announcements and gear than we can shake a stick at. Things kicked off this week with a video of the LG BL40 Black Label feature phone hitting the Web. This was a good thing since we hate teaser campaigns. One of the cooler things from early in the week was the Fujifilm announcement of the FinePix Real 3D digital camera coming this year. The only downside is the camera is about $600 and the digital frame required to see the photos goes for another $200.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 Review

By Vincent Nguyen on Wednesday, Jul 15th 2009 1 Comment

As evolutionary updates go you don’t get more basic than a cosmetic refresh, so imagine our surprise to find Lenovo guilty of just such a relaunch.  The Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 takes the company’s original S10 netbook and, most obviously, reworks the casing; is that enough to keep the S10-2 near the top of the netbook leaderboard?  SlashGear set to finding out.

This has been a busy week here at SlashGear and lots of new items have appeared this week to stoke our geek lust. If you were on vacation or just didn’t get around to reading much this week here is our week in review. We heard rumors this week that Apple had purchased a huge order of cameras for its new iPod models. The rumor was supported by shots of new cases for the 5G iPod nano that surfaced with a cut out for a camera lens. Intel is also rumored to have penalized Lenovo and Samsung over cramming the popular Intel Atom processor inside a netbook with screens over the size limit that the parts are supposed to be used in. I guess Intel is still afraid of net books cannibalizing notebook sales.

It has been an eventful week in the geek world with all sorts of new products and important announcements turning up for the first time. The big story of the week was the launch of the iPhone 3GS last Friday. Word came on Monday that the 3GS sold a whopping 1 million units in its first three days of availability. Unfortunately, for some users, it took them an extra three days just to get their shiny new iPhone 3GS activated. Despite the fact that activation failures were on AT&T’s side of the iPhone equation, Apple offered users $30 in iTunes credit as a sorry AT&T sucks peace offering to new owners.

SlashGear stopped by the Pepcom Digital Experience in New York this week, and caught up with one of the more interesting netbooks on the horizon: Lenovo’s S12.  While it may physically resemble one of the company’s previous models, albeit with a larger 12.1-inch display, what makes the S12 really special is the NVIDIA Ion chipset inside.  The demonstration – which you can see after the cut – showed silky-smooth simultaneous HD encoding and playback.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad T400s has only just crossed the wire – check out our review here – but the company is already thinking one or two steps ahead to what its replacement might have.  According to David Critchley, a marketing manager at the PC maker, both multitouch display technology and an OLED panel are being considered for future models.
