We love a little mystery, especially when that mystery is fuelled by a manufacturer themselves, and Lenovo have done us proud today with a new all-in-one PC.  While the company is no stranger to all-in-ones – we reviewed their IdeaCentre C300 back in August – what makes this unnamed model different is that it’s the first in the Lenovo ThinkCentre range, an all-in-one targeted at business users.

It feels like we’ve been waiting for Lenovo’s IdeaPad S12 with NVIDIA Ion graphics for months, probably because it has been months.  Announced back in May, demonstrated to us in June, then officially delayed in August until Windows 7’s launch, the arrival of the new Microsoft OS means Lenovo can finally push the IdeaPad S12 Ion out of the door.

Lenovo is known for making some robust notebooks that perform well but have zero sex appeal. The machines have looked basically the same since IBM owned the ThinkPad brand. Today Lenovo announced that it has added Windows 7 to a couple new machines called the SL410 and the SL510. The notebooks hit overseas already, but today is the official U.S. coming out.

multitouch 201x166 customWe’re just a few weeks away from the formal launch of Windows 7 and I’ve been using the final build for some time now. It’s very nice and I’m sure most of you have seen it, used it or read about it to death. What I want to talk about over the next few weeks is various parts of Windows 7. One of the most intriguing parts of the new OS that Microsoft has talked about for some time has been the integration of touch features. While vendors such as HP have done their own touch implementations in the past (HP has gone as far as to offer their own touch-based SDK for developers) this is the first time since Microsoft unveiled their touch platform offering, Surface, that we’ve seen the OS vendor incorporate true finger-touch features directly into the OS.

Lenovo has gone all officially official with the C100 all-in-one we scoped back in August. We already knew quite a bit about the machine like the fact that it would have an 18.5-inch 16:9 LCD and pack all its tech inside the monitor.

Lenovo's latest netbook tweak, the 720p high-definition display option for the IdeaPad S10-2, has seen its first video demonstration.  Netbooknews caught up with the ultraportable - together with its regular cousin - and gave them a side-by-side run through, 1,280 x 720 versus 1,024 x 600.

Back in July, we reviewed the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 and while we weren’t overly impressed (it is a netbook, afterall), it was a machine that we wouldn’t necessarily run away from, if we had some extra cash in our pockets. And now it looks like Lenovo has something else coming down the line, specifically for Japan. HD displays aren’t run of the mill quite yet for netbooks, so it’s always good to see an existing model getting a display upgrade.
