We’re used to our mobile devices flashing at us to let us know when there’s a missed call to be addressed, new SMS message or battery problem, but it’s less common for a notebook or netbook to blink for attention.  JustBlair decided to change that, adding a three-color LED to his Eee PC 901 that flashes whenever a new Twitter, email or IM message comes in.

LG have announced their first LED combination TV and monitor, the W2286L, a 22-inch display with whopping 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.  The 20mm-thick widescreen display supports up to 1,680 x 1,050 resolution and has two HDMI inputs.

LG have unveiled two new ”full LED” HDTVs, each with 55-inch LCD panels and 240Hz refresh rates.  The LG 55LH95 and LG 55LH93 both use 3,360 individual LEDs and boast a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1; the company’s backlighting technology can individually control 240 sections of the display, dimming or brightening as suits the image on-screen.

Samsung have taken the wraps off of their latest pocket-projector, the P410M, and while you’d certainly need reasonably-sized pockets to carry it, it perhaps makes up for things by offering higher than usual specs.  The P410M boasts up to 800 x 600 resolution and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, together with inputs that include VGA, composite and a USB port.

Paranoiacs and the easily intimidated, look away now; the Eyelight Dot Me may just be a lighting prototype now, but one day it could be following you around your home.  Designed by Simon Schiessl and Felix Hardwood Beck, the light uses an array of LEDs to create a moving eye suspended from your ceiling; if it spots movement, it spotlights that person in a cone of bright light.

Toshiba began shipping their Regza HDTVs today, which were initially shown off at CES earlier this year. However, another series was added to the line up today, called the XV648, which is certainly worth learning about.

Even a couple of years after its release, Philips’ Living Colors LED lamp remains one of the cooler ways to light up your living room.  Packing a rainbow of LED light into one remote-controlled unit, the biggest drawback is its price: around $180 if you can find it in the US.  Stepping neatly into the fray, then, comes this multi-colored LED bulb that slots into a standard MR16 socket and costs less than a sixth of the Philips lamp.

LG are looking to capitalize on their Q1 2009 successes with the TruMotion 240Hz LH90 HDTV series.  Now with official Korean pricing announced, the LH90 series will be available in 42, 47 and 55-inch sizes, each with that headline-grabbing 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

An animated poster made up of LEDs and OLEDs could be the next huge billboard frustration, if Dai Nippon Printing have their say.  The Japanese firm have built a prototype panel which mimics animation by selectively illuminating different parts of the printed image, in this case the home stadium of the Rakuten Eagles baseball team.
