Lenovo ThinkPad X250: a small powerhouse laptop

Lenovo ThinkPad X250: a small powerhouse laptop

Lenovo makes sure those who need durable laptops have options available regardless of whether they need a big hulking device or a smaller one with a more portable display size. The ThinkPad X240 we reviewed in recent times is one example, and following in its footsteps is the similar ThinkPad X250, a relatively small laptop that doesn't compromise on battery life, durability, or power. All the ThinkPad trimmings are present -- the distinctly Lenovo keyboard, the dark design -- and joining it are some upgrades like the latest Intel processors.

ASUS EeeBook X205 Windows laptop now available

ASUS EeeBook X205 Windows laptop now available

Back in September we got our first look at ASUS's sleek budget-friendly EeeBook X205, a thin laptop running Windows 8.1 and offering users a so-called smartphone experience. Though we got all the details on the machine a couple months ago, ASUS was quiet on when it would launch the notebook, something that is no longer of any concern: the laptop is now available, and is priced at $199 USD. The device is poised to take on HP's recent similar offering, the equally budget-friendly Stream 11 notebook.

Acer V Nitro Black Series laptops gain 4K option

Back in late September we were introduced to Acer's V Nitro Black Edition Series of gaming-centric laptops. These machines came in two forms for those in the United States, both of them bringing Full HD 1080p resolution on displays measuring in at 15.6-inches and 17.3-inches, respectively. Those who need a display with a little more oomph will soon have a new option in the product lineup, the company revealed earlier this week: a 15.6-inch notebook with a 3840 x 2160 Ultra HD resolution.

Lenovo ThinkPad W540 Review – Old-School Pride

Lenovo ThinkPad W540 Review – Old-School Pride

The ThinkPad's distant history is pocked with no-nonsense business machines sporting plain designs and thick bodies. Those are largely a thing of the past, with the newest ThinkPads coming with a side dish of sleekness that make them stand out from systems of days gone by. Such isn't the case with Lenovo's new ThinkPad W540, a mobile workstation targeted at business users that in some ways harkens back to the old T-Series designs. That's not a criticism, mind you. There's something refreshing about a laptop that isn't partly based on being overtly stylish, instead zeroing in on functionality for those who care most about what the machine can do. Does the W540's functionality match its boardroom aesthetic, though? Read our full SlashGear review to find out!

HP Stream 11 Windows laptop now available

HP Stream 11 Windows laptop now available

Last last month HP rolled the red carpet out for its new colorful -- and more importantly, cheap -- Stream laptops. Their appeal is multi-fauceted, and though they aren't the most powerful machines out there, the mixture of a sub-$200 price tag and the inclusion of Windows 8.1 makes the HP Stream 11, in particular, a milestone machine for the company. When it was announced, HP stayed quiet on the laptop's launch date, and now about a month later it has quietly changed the machine's status to "available".

SlateGo Mobile AirDesk review: your laptop’s best friend

SlateGo Mobile AirDesk review: your laptop’s best friend

The term “laptop computer” is a bit misleading. Sure, your Macbook might fit on your lap, but it’s definitely not designed just for that. A flat, metal bottom that gets noticeably warm when you use it for prolonged periods only leaves you shifting in your seat, or shoving a pillow underneath. The last thing you want is to leave the comforts of your favorite chair and head to a desk. The SlateGo wants to help end your warm-legged shuffle, but does it really work? Let’s find out!
